Reading comprehension of the Czech texts among foreign pupils - Level A1

This master theses deals with certain aspects of Czech as foreign language. It comprises of 2 parts. The first one is theoretical background and explains key concepts as e.g. migration, foreign pupil in czech school, teaching of foreign pupils, reading comprehension, characteristic of level A1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It introduces European language portfolio and vocabulary for level A1. The second part is focused on field research that was realised at primary school in Prague. For this qualitative research were chosen 10 pupils from Slavic and Non-Slavic countries. The aim of this research was gaining of compact information about chosen pupils by analysing their individual educational plan, interviews with pupils, teachers and headmaster, analysing their tests and observation. The reseach was concentrated on reading comprehension. 3 different texts were made. One from them was made according to vocabulary for level A1. The other texts were text from textbook and it's simplified version. Each text had a few questions that pupils had to answer. The results of two texts were compared and commented. We cannot say that if pupil is longer time in Czech environment, he or she has better command of Czech language. Comparison of two types of texts did not bring...
Issue of Integration of Foreign Pupils with Focusing on Their Origin Country

The aim of this thesis is to analyze and evaluate the current situation of the integration in the Czech education system focusing on the issues and specifics inclusion of foreign pupils and on consideration of the impact of pupils' country of origin on the process. The theoretical part of diploma thesis mentions the reasons for the integration of foreigners. Moreover, it highlights why and from where they are coming to the Czech Republic. It captures the current legislation and the rights of foreigners who want to settle permanently in the Czech Republic. Further, it shows the analysis of different ways of educating pupils with special needs, the placement of foreign pupils at Czech elementary schools and intercultural differences, which may have impact on pupils' integration. The practical part focuses on comparing the available theoretical knowledge and the everyday reality of Czech teachers who teach foreign pupils and can work on their daily practice. Based on the comparison of theoretical and practical knowledge the author explains the personal point of view on the integration of foreign pupils and suggests some ideas how to overcome mentioned shortcomings....
Czech as a second language for a pupil with a different mother tongue in primary school

This thesis deals with teaching Czech as a second language for pupils with a different mother tongue at primary school. Collects and presents professional findings on this topic. Diploma thesis explains the difference between Czech as a second language and Czech as a foreign language and compares them. The thesis examined what is necessary when the teacher is planning the lesson. Further, describes in detail the various materials and textbook Domino 1 in terms of a beginning teacher of Czech for foreigners. In the practical part of the thesis submitted to analyse three topics. Based on this analysis and complete analysis of theoretical knowledge, textbooks, and materials originated recommendations for a beginning teachers. The thesis also deals with a utility of textbooks of Czech as a second language in a regular classroom. The practical part includes ideas for games in a lesson or samples of worksheets. The result of the work is to evaluate teaching materials and sample other tools that can be used in the Czech lessons for foreigners. Interventional approaches to pupils of younger school age with different mother tongue

The diploma thesis deals with intervention approaches used in the educational system of foreigners and pupils of younger school age with a different mother tongue. It focuses on the position of pupils with a different mother tongue in the Czech educational system and their schooling. It also refers to the concept of migration and presents the current legislation applied in the education of pupils with a different mother tongue. The thesis introduces the organizations that provide support to children with a different mother tongue during their primary school studies. It also mentions support, supporting measures, intervention approaches and strategies for an inclusive approach. The diploma thesis describes through interviews, examples of inspiring practice and case studies the intervention approaches to primary school pupils with a different mother tongue. Building of Sociocultural Competence of Migrant Pupils in the Czech Environment

The thesis deals with the issue of integrating foreign pupils. Especially by creating socio- cultural competence in the Czech environment. It is primarily aimed at the primary school environment and second grade pupils. It consists of two parts. The theoretical section defines the concept of socio-cultural competence and puts it in a broader context. It also deals with a foreign pupil and the acquisition of a foreign language. Las, but not least, it represents a set of factors that are crucial to the acquisition of a foreign pupil's socio-cultural competence. The Common European Framework of Reference and its individual levels are also presented. A qualitative research investigation is described n the practical section. The aim of the investigation is to answer the main research question, namely: How is the socio-cultural competency of a foreign pupil in a Czech school created? A semi-structured interview method was chosen for research. Respondents were selected on the basis of defined criteria. Through their testimony, it was concluded that specific situations were to be taken into account when working with a foreign pupil. Improving teaching of pupils with different mother tongues at primary school

The diploma thesis deals with possibilities of improving the teaching of pupils with a different mother tongue at primary school level. The theoretical part analyzes the available literature on the subject. The thesis answers questions as: How is it possible to support pupils with a different mother tongue? Which approaches and methods can be used while teaching foreign pupils to improve and facilitate the education of pupils with different mother tongues? How to ensure that all the pupils in the class develop the same skills at the same time? The gained knowledge from the theoretical part of the thesis is used to create interventions and empirical part of the thesis. Empirical part of the thesis is based on a research to test methods and practices to improve and facilitate the teaching of the pupils with a different mother tongue. In the course of several months of intense collaboration with a particular pupil, the ways to improve the quality of teaching have been investigated. It turned out not all of the methods and practices are effective. Furthermore, it has been also confirmed that the achievement of some specific goals for improving and facilitating teaching is a long-term process.
