Okurka, Tomáš ; Jančík, Drahomír (advisor) ; Vošahlíková, Pavla (referee) ; Šouša, Jiří (referee)
Industrial and Universal Exhibitions in Bohemia during 1891-1914. Participants and Their Motivation Abstract At first, the work defines four participant groups in connection with industrial and universal exhibitions in Bohemia before the First World War: a) organizers and promoters, b) exhibitors, c) the public, d) "suppliers". In doing so, it examines in particular the institutional base (associations, chambers of commerce, municipal and land authorities, civil service etc.) and the socio-occupational structure. Consequently, there follows a thorough analysis of the most significant motives and goals that led these parties to take part in the exhibitions: a) promotion of industry, crafts and trade, b) edification and entertainment, c) benefits for the town and presentation of municipal politics, d) national motives and country patriotism, e) social prestige. The thesis concludes with the question of to what extent the exhibitions served the function of communication medium among the individual socio-occupational groups on the one hand, and across the ethnic border on the other hand.

Kvasnicová, Sandra ; Halada, Jan (advisor) ; Vošahlíková, Pavla (referee)
Diploma thesis "Czech Socialistic Advertising in the First Half of 1980s"deals with advertising (or propagation) industry in socialistic Czechoslovakia. The advertising of this age had different signs than commercials we know now. The commercials were quite specific, thanks to the centrally planned economy and no competitive environment. There were no classic supply - demand market, therefore the commercials and advertising itself were made to increase the product's awareness, often because of its surplus. Not to differ it from similar ones. The socialistic advertising, apart from offering products, had to educate the Czechoslovakian population to think both in state and ideological way. The main part of this work deals with ideological theories of propagation and to the process of creating such commercials. Quite a strong role played promotion companies, such as Rapid, Merkur or ČTK-Made in Publicity. Important part of the bachelor thesis is a television propagation symbolized by legendary character called Pan Vajíčko (Mister Egg).

The Czech doctress MUDr. Anna Bayerová and her friendship with Libuše Bráfová-Riegrová (text editing of diary and correspondce)
Beranová, Martina ; Vošahlíková, Pavla (referee) ; Ebelová, Ivana (advisor)
MUDr.

The image of the American woman on TV screen in 1950's
Blažková, Michaela ; Vošahlíková, Pavla (referee) ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor)
The 1950s in the United States of America brought about not only political, economic and cultural changes, but also a social change on a massive scale. The way of perceiving men and women, their work, leisure and personal ambition, changed significantly. This change was influenced by further medical, sociological and psychological discoveries, but the crucial influence came from the movies and television. The middle of the 20th century was the time when mass media became a part of everyday family life and took a firm hold in the majority of American households. The entertainment industry became involved in forming the social reflection and became influenced by it in turn. Based on the analysis of selected products from the entertainment industry which represent a sample of differing approaches in film and television, this diploma thesis explores the depiction and reflection of the perception of the family, the depiction of women, childhood, the home, relationships etc. The thesis focuses on the reconstruction of interpersonal relationships in film and television, with the emphasis on the role of women, in the context of social development in the United States of America after the Second World War and in the 1950s.
Comparison of Prague and Budapest at the turn of the 19th and 20th century
The statute of domestic servants in Prague's middle class households in the turn od the 20th century. Identity, social mobility and the way of their lives
Machková Prajzová, Naděžda ; Kubů, Eduard (advisor) ; Vošahlíková, Pavla (referee) ; Macková, Marie (referee)
This thesis deals with the social group of domestic servants, concretely with the maids in Prague's households at the turn of the 20th century (untill the twenties). The servants were the integrant part of the households until the recent times. This social group appeared in various kinds of forms, in various kinds of roles and settings. To have the servants was the symbol for beeing a part of prestigious level of the society. The reasons for keeping the servants could, however, be also pragmatic for many not so rich households - there was a need of employment, resp. ocupation for all the adult members of those families in the (family) trade or farming. The second half of the 19th century is the time of big changes for this social group. The progressive industrialization and the modernization and the urbanization of the society lead to the falling of traditional form of the self-supporting family, further to the restriction of the working load for women and also to the lesser need of the family servants. The domestic servant demand started to be determinated with the social status instead of the economic situation of the family. This demand defines the Maid and also her new duties. There was about one third of the Czech households and one half of the German ones in Prague keeping a housemaid around 1900....
The Honzak's sisters: the family background of the first university female students
The Czech un-film advertisement being published in film periodicals between years 1918-1938
Hradec, Vít ; Vošahlíková, Pavla (advisor) ; Groman, Martin (referee)
Film press, as well as any other kind of press, depends on advertising. Commercial success of a periodical reflects its ability to attract as many good advertisers as possible. This press is popular with readers as well as the film phenomena itself. The advertisers use its potential for offering their products or services. The purpose of the research is to find out how offered products are connected to the film periodical in which these are advertised; or which persuasive strategies are used so that a consumer can associate a product with some of the film culture aspects. The followed thesis says the Czech "un- film" advertisement being published between years 1918-1938 uses specific communication strategies to enforce, depending on a sort of a periodical itself. The "un-film" advertisement is defined as a commercial content that offers a product or a service with no logical connection to film. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
