Daneš, David ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The present thesis deals with the subjective dimension of social stratification, more specifically subjective class and subjective status. The author begins by pointing to the subjective aspects of traditional theoretical backgrounds of class and hierarchical conception of social stratification. Then he analyzes subjective class and status as their analogous concepts and describes their application in empirical research, both foreign and Czech sociology. The analytical part presents its own secondary analysis of data from a representative survey ISSP 1992, 1999, 2009 and Social distance 2007 for the Czech Republic. Through this analysis author describes the differences between the two approaches and changes of their distribution and relation in time. Whereas subjective status is relatively stable in selected period, subjective class goes through a lot of changes. These changes are caused primarily by subjectively identified working class, whose representation weakens in time and approaches the class to subjective status. The author also deals with the differences of the declared reasons for identifying with class. Olbertová, Lenka ; Kabele, Jiří (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with finding an answer to how socialistic complaints worked as an instrument of remedy and also as an instrument of governance. It proceeds from the theory of Albert O. The issues of complaining are put into period context in the diploma thesis and it is supplemented about a brief elucidation of ruling manners considering the district level. The empirical part is based on qualitative and quantitative content analysis of complaints that were solved by the leading secretary at the District Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in Beroun from 1985 till 1989. It is not only focused on a survey of complaints but also interprets the procedures of solving that are related to the chosen theoretical findings. The thesis also explains the relationship between the communist party and its critics with their objections and the relationship between the party and people that were criticized in the complaints.

Parents returning to work after parental leave in the eyes of recruiters
Marková, Kateřina ; Křížková, Alena (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
Work, and more particularly paid work, is an essential part of decent human existence. Current conditions on the Czech labour market cannot be considered friendly towards parenthood and parenting duties. The common pressure to fully adjust to the employer's needs and very limited opportunities of family-friendly forms of employment together with other factors have led to a situation where parents of small children (and particularly mothers) find themselves in a disadvantageous position. Family policies do not aim to improve that position and institutional child care does not have sufficient capacity. The qualitative research undertaken for the purpose of this thesis therefore focuses on personal managers as representatives of employers in the employee recruitment process, more precisely on conceptions (stereotypes) personal managers have of men and women, of parents in general and most importantly of parents returning to the labour market after their parental leave. It is very important to research these conceptions (stereotypes) because they are an integral part of the employee selection process and are reflected in the decision-making about hiring/not hiring an individual for a position.
What does aging and old age mean for women?
Roedlová, Adéla ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
This master thesis deals with the subjective view of middle aged and older Czech women on problematic of old age and aging. In connection of old age and aging they focus more on the aging of the whole society or relation between the generations, but not on a subjective perception and experience of this life stage and process. The aim of this work is to find out what women consider as the key elements of old age and aging and also to create a comprehensive view of aging from the women perspective. It is also essential to the thesis to determine the differences and similarities in the perception of aging in terms of age and life stage. In this thesis is used a method of qualitative research, which is grounded in the phenomenological approach and data collection is carried out using the ZMET research method. This projective technique of data collection, whose theory and practice is described in the work, is based on the idea that people do not think verbally but in images. Tobacco Dependence Treatment and Depressive Disorder. Treatment Outcomes in Patients with Depression History
Štěpánková, Lenka ; Králíková, Eva (advisor) ; Šteflová, Alena (referee) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
Success rate of tobacco dependence treatment among patients with and without a history of depression Introduction: Higher prevalence of smoking among depressive patients, as well as higher risk of depression in smokers, are well documented. Views on treatment of tobacco dependence in this subgroup of smokers are controversial. Aim: A/ To compare the abstinence rate among smokers with or without a history of depression receiving treatment for nicotine dependence at one year follow up. B/ Factors associated with treatment success were evaluated and analysed. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 1 730 smokers treated at our Centre for Tobacco-Dependent (CTD) between 2005 and 2010 was conducted. Patients were treated with a combination of psychobehavioural interventions and pharmacotherapy (nicotine replacement therapy, varenicline, bupropion or combinations). At one year follow-up smoking abstinence was biochemically validated by measuring expired CO. Results: 16.7 % (289/1730) of smokers currently, or had formerly, received treatment for depression. Based on the average Fagerström Test of Nicotine Dependence (FTND), most patients with a history of depression were heavily nicotine dependent with a score of 6.1, compared to 5.6 (p=0.010) among those without a history of depression. The CO validated success rate...
Cardiovascular disease and smoking. Treatment of tobacco dependence and cardiovascular risk
Zvolská, Kamila ; Králíková, Eva (advisor) ; Šteflová, Alena (referee) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
(EN) Introduction: Tobacco dependence is one of the four major risk factors (RF), cardiovascular (CV) disease (CVD). Objective: Analysis of CV risk of patients of our Center for Tobacco-Dependent. Methods: A retrospective assessment of the presence of CVD, RF for CVD and CV risk level according to the method SCORE in our patients - smokers from 2007 - 2009 (N = 1,349, 52.2% males, age range 25-64 years, mean age 44 ± 11, 7). CV risk was also evaluated one year after the baseline visit including newly diagnosed CVD RF, abstinence from smoking was validated by carbon monoxide in expired air. The results were compared to those of smokers in the study postMONICA (N = 1,122, 54.5% men, mean age 46 ± 11). Compared to the general population of smokers (postMONICA) significantly more Center patients had automatically high CV risk and CVD. The prevalence of type 2 diabetes was comparable as well as prevalence of hypertension and dyslipidemia in smokers without automatically high CV risk. Significantly fewer Center patients without automatically high CV risk were obese, family history was also significantly lower risk. Significantly more women with low RF and significantly fewer men aged 55-59 and women aged 55-64 with SCORE ≥ 5% came to the Center. Success rate of Center patients with SCORE < 5 % was 44.3 %...
