Media education in secondary schools and vocational schools for civic participation of disadvantaged youth
Fridays for Future. Výzkum mimo jiné prověřil sadu rysů výukových metod MV doporučených předchozími studiemi a dospěl zejména k doporučení holistického přístupu, dlouhodobých projektů a k narušení školní rutiny. Zatímco mediální kompetence studentů intervence rozvinula, růst občanskoparticipativních dovedností...
Instagram as a tool to motivation? Production of own content of chosen czech influencers
Juríčková, Denisa ; Turková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Supa, Markéta (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis was using semi-structured interviews to find out how every individual influencer approach the creation of their content on Instagram. In total, 5 creators took part in the interviews and answered 15 questions. The topic of the questions was, among other things, the way in which they choose contributions so that they are motivating, how the deal with criticism and how they perceive their actions on this social network. The result of the analysis was the finding that i tis very important for the work to remain authentic and, above all, to fulfil the creator. An essential aspect is also the realization that self-reflection and acceptance of criticism is needed. The interviews further confirmed that perfection on Instagram has no longer any substantial role like it did in previous years.
Media habits of kids in age of 5-6 years
Knejflová, Vendula ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Supa, Markéta (referee)
The thesis Media habits of children aged 5-6 examines the media awareness of 5 and 6 years old children, their media habits and preferences. It deals with the attitudes of parents and educators towards the media and their role in education, and seeks an answer the question of whether the popularity and use of electronic visual media (television, computer, mobile/tablet) has an impact on some areas of a child's psychomotor development. The work is inspired by a similar research conducted in 2010 by Ondřej Luštinec. The aim is to answer what is the media awareness of children, what are their media preferences and what attitudes are taken by parents and pedagogical staff towards the media in education. Several hypotheses were established, e.g. that children with worse results in the monitored areas will more often choose visual electronic media as their favorite and printed media with radio as unpopular, that children with worse results will spend more time with visual electronic media and that children will spend more time with them than in 2010. The current research was carried out in June 2022 and in January 2023 in kindergartens in Kyselka, Velvary, Čakovice and in Prague - Opletalova street. Qualitative methods (interviews and experiments with children) and quantitative methods (questionnaires...
The phenomenon of sharenting on Instagram with a focus on parents of disabled children
Břešťanová, Jolana ; Römer, Lucie (advisor) ; Supa, Markéta (referee)
The diploma thesis focuses on the phenomenon of sharenting on Instagram. Specifically, it focuses on parents of disabled children who practice it. Sharenting is still a relatively under- researched topic, despite the fact that, in addition to its positive elements, there is also a number of problems and risks for parents and their children. The aim of this thesis was to find out how parents of disabled children perceive, think about and approach the issue of sharenting. In the theoretical part of the thesis, in addition to a summary of the literature on sharenting and its introduction with regard to children with disabilities, the theory of the mediatization of the family as the penetration of digital media into everyday family life is presented. Methodologically, the thesis builds on content analysis (as a secondary method) of the Instagram profiles of these parents and on semi-structured interviews with them (main method). In particular, the practical part explores how sharenting relates to the lives of parents of children with disabilities, what content are they sharing, how they approach it, what their motivations for sharenting are, and how they perceive the positives, negatives and risks of their particular online behaviour. Based on these methods, it was found that the primary motivation for...

It maps the specifics of videos that are characteristic for the YouTube platform. The thesis analyses formal audiovisual means of expression, such as camera techniques, colour, set design, graphics, post-production editing and the audio component of the work. Construction of national French identity in Children's textbooks
Ahossey, Chantal ; Lütke Notarp, Ulrike (advisor) ; Supa, Markéta (referee)
The research for the dissertation on "the construction of French national identity in the textbooks for children" is aimed towards a descriptive analysis of the foundations of French national identity. The research is based on the portrayal of French national identity in the history and civic education textbooks for primary and secondary schools. The theoretical part represents a notion of culture, nation and collective memory as key elements for the construction of national identity. The discourses used in textbooks are presented as a tool for the handover of cultural elements and a medium for the construction of a cultural reality. Consequently, through methods of discourse analysis, the dissertation focuses on identifying elements of discourse in the textbooks' contents that testify of French culture. On the basis of the results extracted from the research, the self-image of French nationality is then reconstructed. Subsequently, the national self-conception emerging from the textbooks is compared to the one drawn through the new year's presidential speeches between the years 2012 to 2018. The aim of this comparison is to assess whether these two models of French identity hold evident distinctions or if they are constructed on similar foundations. Keywords National identity, France, culture,...
Youth media literacy and media use as percieved by teachers
Bůžková, Kristýna ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Supa, Markéta (referee)
The Master's thesis deals with the view of teachers on complex issues related to the media literacy of adolescents and the concept of media education. The first part of the work provides the necessary theoretical background, on which the empirical part stands and defines key terms related to the topic. The first chapter outlines the approaches by which it is possible to understand teacher's personality and identity. Among other things, the importance of the role that teachers play in the educational process is emphasized here. The second chapter narrows its focus to the concept of media literacy and media education. The third chapter of the thesis deals with the way how young people use the media and deals with related risks that they may encounter. The thesis includes an empirical study as well, which was realized among teachers working at elementary schools. The aim of the survey was primarily to find out and describe how teachers perceive the usage of media and how they evaluate the level of media literacy of their pupils. The discussion and the conclusion of the work then summarize the findings.

Social media algorithms in Czech media literacy
Kořenář, Patrik ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Supa, Markéta (referee)
Transition from mass media to new media is closely tied to a number of societal and technological changes. Global social media platforms are dominating both consumption and production of media content and doing so they employ series of complex technologies, e.g. algorithms. Delegation of labour from humans to these complex systems (in recent years operating on basis of machine learning) has serious influence on many aspects of individual life and processes inside a society itself. In this work we analyse function and influence of social media algorithms and we try to find out if and to what extend is this information transfered into media literacy of high school students in Czech republic. We come to a worrying conclusion that despite its massive influence in contemporary media landscape, the topic of social media algorithms in Czech media literacy and media education is basically absent.
