Media portrayal of Milos Zeman

This thesis deals with the development of the media image of Miloš Zeman in the two terms in which he held the most significant political functions, namely the prime minister and the president. The aim is to find out whether the media image of Miloš Zeman at a time when he served as prime minister differs from the current media image that he now has as president. The theoretical part is defined by the role of the media in society and politics. Furthermore, the approaches of objectivity in media are described and finally the basic theories that are applied in the construction of the media image are presented. The methodological part of the research covers the method of quantitative content analysis and how this research was conducted. The necessary data was obtained through the Anopress database, selecting relevant articles of the two national newspapers (Mladá fronta Dnes, Právo) and the two most-watched national television networks (Nova, Česká televize). The conclusion of this thesis is analytical and presents the results.
Comparative analysis of cover pages of magazines Respekt and Reflex in the period of 2009-2010 (textual and semiotic comparison)

Bachelor thesis "A comparative analysis of cover pages of magazines Respekt and Reflex in the period of 2009 - 2010 (textual and semiotic comparison)" deals with semiotic analysis of the cover pages of two similar weekly magazines in the same period. Research sample includes five covers of each magazine which shows Czech political figures. The first part of this thesis it describes the theoretical essence of semiotics. The second one is about magazines and theory of cover. In practical part analyses the covers of both magazines with the aim of overall comparison in terms of their communicating intentions, construction of reality and its work with myths and stereotypes. Visual and language codes are studied in terms of denotation, connotation and implied postmodern myths. In the recent media discursus has been interpreting signs and symbols, decoding the hidden meanings and perceptions of the dominant ideology in the construct of reality. Attention is focused on the design of Reflex' photomontage and Respekt's drawing, as well as on composition, colors and using stereotypes. Result of analysis shows a consistent approach of both magazines to the dominant ideology, but a different approach to construct reality and creating the communication plan, which comes just from the way of processing.
Starting Reader and Information Literacy in the Municipal Library of Prague - library Smíchov and Barrandov

(in English): Work Starting Reader and Information Literacy in the Municipal Library of Prague - library Smíchov and Barrandov aims to describe and compare the work with starting readers and conduct information education starting readers in accordance with the framework educational programs in the older central city of Prague 5-Smíchov and newer housing estate on the outskirts of Prague 5 in Barrandov. Comparator library Smíchov and Barrandov among the branches of the Municipal Library in Prague. From a comparison of these libraries work is based on methodical instructions for working with starting readers, which rely on the conclusions from interviews conducted by teachers and educators catchment primary schools and kindergartens, as well as with parents beginning readers.

Anonymity in the Internet environment

This bachelor thesis deals with the current state of anonymity in the Internet environment and its historical development. The theoretical part is topped with the comparsion of anonymity and identity in the online environment, complemented by the users themselves showing theirs motivation to use real identity on the one hand and anonymity on the other. Title of the dissertation: Misuse of ICT users digital footprint: library education as a prevention of privacy invasion Author: PhDr. Pavla Kovářová Supervisor: Ing. Martin Souček, Ph.D. Digital footprints, within the meaning of digital information informing about a particular person, belongs to the basic of the information society. They can help (e.g. as a proof of professional quality), but also hurt (e.g. documents of inappropriate behaviour, information misused in information attack) a man whom they relate. Managing digital footprints is becoming important for increasing amount of people. Libraries can promote knowledge of procedures for the effective management of digital footprints by information literacy lessons, which is a prerequisite for their application. PhD thesis describes the theoretical, but especially the research level. Activities of Czech libraries in education are mapped for the correct setting of lessons. Questionnaires showed that the topic continues with the current activities and interest in libraries. Knowledge of librarians and library and information studies students about digital footprints was subsequently tested. Knowledge has been proven, however only to a basic, limited level, but they are enough for four lessons designed for children in elementary school in the dissertation....
Online safety: tool for teaching socio-culturally disadvantaged children

Main topic of this thesis is safety of socio-culturally disadvantaged children on the Internet. It confirms a hypothesis that these children are not adequately equipped with skills to prevent possible risks and solve problems arising in particular from the use of social networks and modern communication tools on the Internet. The author of the thesis also aims to contribute to improving the mentioned skills of children by designing a teaching methodology. This methodology employs methods of experimental education and non-formal education as well. The thesis shall submit the theoretical background and research findings on child safety on the Internet, with an emphasis on cyberbullying, cybergrooming, cyberstalking and sexting. It also discusses the issues of socio-cultural disadvantage and exclusion as well as governmental and NGO sector's approach to the education of disadvantaged children. Final part of the thesis summarizes the results of the research, including its methodology. The designed teaching methodology for safe Internet usage is disclosed in the annexe. Digital footprints-possibilities of control and elimination by selected freely available tools

The goal of this bachelor thesis is to find out to what extent the user is able to protect his privacy against negative impacts linked to digital footprints, using tools that are available for free. At the beginning, the term digital footprint is investigated from several points of view, according to fields that use it. Based on these differences, the definition of the term is stated, suitable for the purpose of this work. Then the origin of the digital footprints, and connected risks, are described. In the next chapter, the opportunities of control, finding of scale, and possible remove of digital footprints by the user, are outlined. In the practical part, that immediately follows the previous chapter, the suitable tools are chosen, and by the mutual comparison, it is investigated whether it is possible (and if so, to what extent) to prevent possible risks and protect the privacy.

The Conflict of Interest Law as one of the tools of anti-corruption policy: Analysis of asset declarations of Members of Parliament during the Nečas cabinet period

The main goal of the thesis is to find out how the Law no. 159/2006 Sb. on conflict of interest is fulfilled with special focus on asset declarations of the Members of Parliament of the Czech House of Assembly. An analysis of completeness of MP asset declarations from the period of Nečas' Government is a part of the thesis. Furthermore, the analysis deals with other questions, such as whether MPs engaged in other activities during their term in office, whether they disclose acquired property and whether they gained monetary income, donations or if they made liabilities. The bachelor thesis is organized into three chapters. The first chapter deals with the social phenomenon of corruption and anti-corruption policies. The second chapter deals with the Conflict of Interest Law, specifically its development until the present time, its interpretation and main drawbacks. The last chapter analyses the asset declarations of MPs.
