The main objective is widening of existing posttraumatic research in professional rescuers with findings from multinational sample of firefighters. Sample consisted of firefighters from Czech Republic (N=302) and six other European countries (N=2241). Study was carried out through questionnaire-based data gathering. Symptoms of posttraumatic stress were assessed via self-rating measure Impact of event scale - revised, posttraumatic growth via Posttraumatic growth inventory - short form. Comparison of Czech and European firefighters was made with the premise that among members of this professional group there would be found no differences. Subtle dissimilarities were, however, observed in several measured...

During the follow-up, one year after the discharge, we interviewed 63 patients (45 men, 18 women). The group used for comparison consisted of 1% random sample of Czech population from Benešov district, matched with regard to age and sex, selected during epidemiological survey PostMONIKA. Results: Patients with acute MI were significantly more depressed than the subjects from comparison group (ll% vs. 3% p<0.05). One year after MI, the prevalence of depression symptoms among patients was the same as in the comparison sample. Patients with acute MI reported anxiety symptoms only rarely and denial as a coping strategy was associated with diminished occurrence of anxiety symptoms. An association between emotional coping, distraction cop1ng, lack of social support, dispositional...

Operators on the emergency line 155. Reviewing operators control over calls (with callers) by means of transactional analysis
Čepická, Blanka ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor) ; Hartl, Pavel (referee) ; Honzák, Radkin (referee)
The work focuses on reviewing phone calls to the 155 emergency line of the Emergency Medical Service, by means of transactional analysis. The review concentrated on how the operators controlled the phone calls. We studied their ways of dealing with the requests that were the subject matter of the emergency line calls. Transactional analysis has proved to be a good instrument to analyze procedures the operators had chosen to conduct the calls. The outcomes helped describe characteristics of both constructively and unconstructively conducted calls. The results can provide good basis for complementing the currently purely medical training of the emergency line operators, to include the dimension of psychological variables, which may affect the course of calls.

Results confirmed that discontent and the increasing intensity of stress in the workplace is proportional to the risk of burnout. This research confirmed that although most nurses achieved good results has been shown a high percentage of nurses with alarmig score and even burnout. Therefore we should not ignore this issure, but rather to warn him and avoid unpleasant consequences through educational seminars, pleasant working environment and do not overload nurses.
