The Overlooked Fact: the Critical Role of Bioinformatics Pipeline in Microbiome Analysis

The research on the human microbiome has gained significant popularity over the past couple of years across both scientific and public communities. This area has revealed considerable knowledge, mainly thanks to next-generation sequencing. Even though technology possibilities evolve faster than ever, and there is an enormous amount of publicly available data, there are not yet precise procedures, methods, and bioinformatics tools to work accurately enough with microbiome data, and there are no standardized recommendations for bioinformatics pipelines to assess the most accurate results. Here, we demonstrate the potential inaccuracies that can arise from various bioinformatics processing of amplicon 16S RNA sequencing data by performing a comparative analysis of diverse pipeline configurations using mock community samples and biological material originating from biopsy samples obtained during regular colonoscopy from patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis.

Odlišnosti v biologii geografických kmenů motolice Schistosoma mansoni

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o geografických kmenech motolice Schistosoma mansoni, přičemž shrnuje poznatky o jejich vzájemných rozdílech. Cílem práce je zejména literární rešerše komparativních studií zmiňujících popisy určitých kmenů S. mansoni a následná identifikace odlišností napříč jednotlivými geografickými kmeny. Mezi významné srovnávané údaje byla mimo morfologicko-anatomické odlišnosti zahrnuta i prepatentní perioda, distribuce vajíček v hostiteli a působená patologie, včetně tvorby granulomů. Výsledky této práce potvrzují, že se jednotlivé geografické kmeny v různých aspektech navzájem liší, a to často i mezi izoláty ze stejné oblasti. Geografické kmeny jsou ve výzkumech zastoupeny nerovnoměrně, a to může skrz výsledky dominantních kmenů zkreslit náš pohled na vybrané aspekty biologie schistosom. Je tedy důležité podporovat další, diversifikovaný výzkum zohledňující veškeré faktory experimentů. Získané poznatky o vlastnostech geografických kmenů mohou poskytnout důležité informace pro vývoj strategií kontroly schistosomózy a přinést užitek postiženým populacím po celém světě. Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na tvorbu dokumentace převodních cen pro podnik vystupující v roli smluvního výrobce s cílem vytvořit pomůcku, která usnadní daňovému subjektu nesení důkazního břemene. Teoretická část diplomové práce vymezuje základní pojmový aparát spolu se základními principy a právní úpravou převodních cen. Druhá část se zabývá sestavením podrobného rámce tvorby dokumentace převodních cen. Poslední část závěrečné práce je věnována samotné tvorbě dokumentace s využitím vytvořeného návodu tvorby.

Through a focused comparative analysis, it ranks selected countries based on critical criteria such as market size, regulatory environment, logistics capabilities, and labor costs. The findings provide strategic recommendations to guide the company in making an informed, data-driven decision for its international expansion.

Computational Methods for Comparative Music Performance Analysis

The availability of digital music content and various interpretations of musical pieces is increasing rapidly. Simultaneously, even though the computational methods of Music Information Retrieval (MIR) are evolving at a quick pace, they are not always reflected in related fields such as Music Performance Analysis (MPA). The main topic of this dissertation is the utilization of computational methods and digital music processing for the goals of MPA. It aims to combine MIR principles to analyze and compare differences in musical performances and their parameters. The thesis examines the limitations of conventional and machine learning-based onset and beat detectors to correctly estimate the ground-truth data under the effect of input audio degradations, sampling rate reductions, or in complex musical structures. Furthermore, this work shows the possibilities of music synchronization, parameter extraction, and feature selection application on novel string quartet data to provide a semi-automated strategy for binary classification of performers’ origin. Finally, it demonstrates a software tool for comparative music analysis by combining a comfortable user environment for playback, navigation, and visualization of music performance data with the computation methods of MIR.

Comparative analysis of professional texts on computer science

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to provide a comparative analysis of professional texts on computer science. VxLAN technology, which is most often used in data centers, was chosen as the topic for the materials. The first text chosen for the analysis is a web journal article, the second is the technical documentation Request for Comments (RFC), the third is a video lecture. The main goal of this work is to examine the selected materials from different perspectives and to determine the extent to which the texts, written and spoken, differ in their use of language and what common features they have. To achieve this goal, the materials are investigated in terms of several discourse features, including language functions, style and genre, cohesion and coherence, and deixis. The work also tries to define whether the analyzed materials are typical examples of their genres and styles.

Bachelor’s thesis “Electrotechnology – commented translation” aims at translating Czech scientific text into English language, which is used as a study material for students of Electrotechnology, and to convey comparative analysis of both the original and the translated text. The source text is divided into nine chapters from which several extracts were selected and analysed in terms of linguistics. Each of them is concerned with different area of electrical engineering and diverse variety of scientific terms is used. This bachelor’s thesis offers essential theory concerned with translation of scientific texts written in style of science and technology.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou výběru informačního systému, který má vést k zefektivnění procesů a zvýšení počtu zákazníků ve firmě Rumburak s.r.o. První kapitola je zaměřena na teoretické poznatky, které jsou potřebné ke zpracování řešené problematiky. V následující části jsou provedeny analýzy vnitřního i vnějšího prostředí společnosti a definovány závěry z nich vycházející. Návrhová sekce obsahuje porovnání dostupných informačních systémů a výběr nejvhodnějšího z nich. Následně je zpracován časový plán na zavedení nového IS, spolu s identifikováním přínosů a ekonomickým zhodnocením celého návrhu.

Comparative analysis of professional texts

This Bachelor´s thesis analyzes three technical texts from the field of electrical engineering. The first text chosen for this analysis is an academic textbook, the second is a technical research article, and the third is a technical lecture. All texts explain the topic of operational amplifiers. This thesis comments on the presented genres and their characteristics; however, its main focus is the analysis of cohesive chains. Types of grammatical and lexical cohesion are analyzed as well as the use of the keywords in the cohesive chains. The items of the identified cohesive chains are integrated in tables and their function in the discourse is commented on. The percentage occurrence of the individual categories of cohesion is calculated and it is implied that lexical cohesion prevails over grammatical. Some interesting distinctions arise from the comparison of the texts and the cohesive devices forming the cohesive chains.

Srovnávací analýza využití metodik oceňování nemovitostí v Německu pro znaleckou praxi v České republice

Předmětem disertační práce je analýza podmínek pro práci znalců (odhadců) nemovitých věcí ve Spolkové republice Německo v porovnání s podmínkami v České republice s cílem nalézt vhodné praxe, které by byly využitelné i pro práci znalců v České republice. Součástí práce jsou i návrhy vhodných opatření, která mohou přispět k rozvoji znalecké činnosti v České republice, se zaměřením na řešení problémů souvisejících se stanovením směnné hodnoty nemovitých věcí. Tato analýza zahrnuje analýzu typů nemovitých věcí, které bývají předmětem posuzování v dané oblasti, přístupů k řešení oceňovacích problémů, metod, které bývají používány při oceňování nemovitých věcí, subjektů, které jsou oprávněny podávat znalecké posudky i na obsahové požadavky znaleckých posudků.
