The Ostalgie phenomenon and its manifestations in Czech and German television series
Kočárková, Kateřina ; Soukup, Martin (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
Ostalgia is a phenomenon that manifests itself in all areas of human activity - in fashion, culture, music, goods available on the market, or simply in the memories of human beings. This thesis mainly focuses on the cultural level, specifically on television series. The theoretical part is dedicated to collective memory and the culture of remembrance, two aspects that are very closely related to the cultural level. Ostalgic reminiscence often emphasizes material goods, as if the reminiscers were trying to preserve something from a time in which they will never find themselves again - except through memories. Here, I find it interesting to link the phenomenon of ostalgia with the so-called memory of things, defined by Jan Asmann and further analyzed in more depth by anthropologist Arjun Appadurai. By using objects from the times of socialism, people preserved at least part of their earlier lives; memories stored in these objects can be recalled even after several years. The phenomenon of ostalgia will be specifically examined in two Czech and two German television series. The Czech examples are represented by the TV series Vyprávěj and Svět pod hlavou produced by Czech Television. The two German series Ku'damm and Deutschland 83 were chosen to represent an approximate equivalent to the Czech...
Adolescent self-harm and its (mis)understanting by older generations (podcast)
Pálová, Anna ; Lovaš, Karol (advisor) ; Gulda, Jana (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with adolescent self-harm in relation to its perception by older generations. It aims to provide an introduction to the issue of self-harm in young people and to explore the reasons why older generations may have difficulty understanding this phenomenon. The practical part of the bachelor thesis provides answers to, among other things, why self-harm is currently widespread among adolescents, what it brings to them or what are the common reactions of parents to their child hurting themselves. For greater authenticity and credibility, the topic is approached through interviews with a psychiatrist, a clinical psychologist, and those who have experienced self-harm themselves. Together with the other interviewees, the author's announcements and the musical background, the individual parts form a forty-minute podcast that bears witness to the fact that the older generations in the Czech Republic in many cases distance themselves from the topic of adolescent self-harm and accept it rather negatively. According to the psychologist, this is mainly due to their lack of experience with this topic. The theoretical part of the thesis defines basic concepts such as self-harm or self-injurious adolescents. Furthermore, it discusses the conclusions of professional studies on how society,...
How do independent and hybrid informal care for the elderly affect caring families?
Hainzová, Kateřina ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
The diploma thesis, "How does independent and hybrid informal care for seniors impact caregiving families?" examined informal care for seniors in households through independent care and hybrid care. The research questions for this work investigated how the impacts of informal care for seniors differ on caregiving families about the use of hybrid care and what differences exist in various aspects of caregivers' lives concerning the utilization of hybrid care. A comparative analysis was conducted to identify differences in the experience of both types of care and to determine if respondents' opinions align in certain areas. The aim was also to characterize the impacts of care on caregiving family members and to expand knowledge about the possibilities of caring for seniors. The research showed that hybrid care, which combines family support with professional assistance, positively impacts caregiving and reduces caregivers' psychological burdens. Furthermore, it was found that caregivers perceive hybrid care as suitable and prefer it over independent care. Intergenerational family relationships are strengthened but may be influenced by conflicts and emotions associated with caregiving.
Value orientation and emerging generation strategies (X, Y, Z)
Chobotová, Tereza ; Tuček, Milan (advisor) ; Svobodová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of the transformation of values, morals and strategies of the coming generations in the Czech Republic. The work focuses primarily on generations X and Y, marginally then, as an addition, on the simultaneously emerging generation Z. The aim of the work is to describe how generations differ from each other in their approach to values and morality, what strategies they choose and how they change within their lives. Within sociology, concepts of morality, values and strategy are key concepts that are used to study human behavior and society. They thus contribute both to a deeper understanding of the established paradigm in society and facilitate the process of optimization in various fields. They allow industries to respond to the changing demands and demands of the coming generations. Specifically included categories in this work are family relationships and work force. In the theoretical part, the issue is embedded in the scientific literature. This section is devoted to terminology, definition of individual generations, values, morality and strategies. In the practical part, the work builds on the European value research for the Czech Republic from 1991, 1999, 2008 and 2017. Working with data sets from these years is based on a descriptive analysis in the...
Intergenerational Relations and Cooperation in the Teaching Staff and Their Influence on Education.
Soukupová, Simona ; Kovaříková, Miroslava (advisor) ; Richterová, Magdalena (referee)
The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research investigation. In the theoretical part the author deals with communication and defines the concept. Then, it deals with conflicts, which the author defines and describes the different kinds and also delves into rivalry and generational conflicts. The thesis also describes teaching models as a source of conflicts. It describes the relationship to self and relationships to others. Last but not least, it discusses the school, the teaching staff and the vision of the school under study. The second part consists of a research investigation. The research investigation was conducted in the form of an online questionnaire for teachers and for pupils. The questionnaire for teachers consisted of both closed and open-ended questions and the questionnaire for pupils consisted of closed-ended questions only. The data were presented in graphical form. The questionnaires are attached in the appendices at the end of the thesis, where the answers to the open-ended questions for teachers are also attached. Then, in the conclusion, the author suggested measures to improve the climate of the teaching staff based on the data. The aim of the thesis was to find out whether the generational differences in the teaching staff affect the process of pupils'...
Revitalization and Renewal of the Town of Velké Němčice
Slámová, Nikola ; Hýl, Michal (referee) ; Havliš, Karel (advisor)
The diploma thesis follows up the design of a senior-housing building in a small town called Velké Němčice. The design project was preceded by the creation of “Strategic Plan for the Sustainability and Possible Development of the Residency” in the form of a book publication based on analyzes, research of the area and discussion with the members of the city council. According to this publication several specific topics were created for more detailed elaboration. The solution of senior-housing belongs among the other goals of Velké Němčice town since as other small towns in Czech Republic they face the same problem of an aging population. As a part of a project there were selected various potential locations for senior-housing buildings and possible forms of these facilities were considered. The selected plot is located in the very center of the town nearby school, football field and also residential area. It was necessary to work with these aspects in order to achieve the best result both for seniors and for town residents. The building design is intended for self-sufficient seniors who still want to be part of social interaction both with town residents and with the younger generation. In a case of reduced mobility the apartments are designed in a way that can be easily modified and seniors do not need to move to another location. Common areas (indoor and outdoor) are used for recreation of all residents of the house including meetings with relatives and close friends. The outer part of the residency serves as a space where the process of socialization takes place the most. The pre-diploma thesis was developed in a group as a team-work and this cooperation also continued during the individual assignment of diploma theses. The common goal of all collaborators is to improve the environment of the town and life in it itself.
Fingerprints Generator
Chaloupka, Radek ; Orság, Filip (referee) ; Drahanský, Martin (advisor)
Algorithms for fingerprints recognition are already known for long time and there is also an effort for their best optimization. This master's thesis is dealing with an opposite approach, where the fingerprints are not being recognized, but are generated on the minutiae position basis. Such algorithm is then free of the minutiae detection from image and enhancements of fingerprints. Results of this work are the synthetic images generated according to few given parameters, especially minutiae.

Genetic Algorithm Design for Distribution Network Outfits Optimalization
Ondruš, Tomáš ; Skala, Petr (referee) ; Paar, Martin (advisor)
The work deals with genetic algorithms and their potential use in application software to optimize high voltage switching elements of distribution network. Theoretical part explains the basic concepts of genetic algorithms such as a gene, population and chromosome and basic principles of the development of genetic algorithms.. The main task of the thesis is to design the algorithm that will simulate the distribution of the sectionalizers by telecontrolled section switches or reclosers and analyze how to set the the parameters affecting the convergence speed of genetic algorithm. The basic parameters affecting the convergence of breeding, mutation probability, population size or using of elitism. The second goal is finding a suitable set of input parameters for the selected population sizes without and with using elitism. The results of the work determine the most appropriate settings for each generation and determining the approximate number of generations needed to find the best solution. The genetic algorithm applocation was tested on a less extensive distribution network with six switching elements
