Authoritarian Values and Electoral Behaviour in Slovakia

Along with the right-left economical dimension of positioning of political parties and voters, there is also dimension of division along cultural and value items which is described as authoritarianism - libertarianism axis or sometimes conservatism - liberalism. In new democracies the division along clear support for liberal democracy on the one hand and support or toleration of non liberal use of power on the other hand is often very important. We distinguish between authoritarianism as orientation with tendency towards support for restrictive and hierarchical politics, which in some cases lead to non liberal variant of formally democratic order, and cultural conservatism, which has its roots mainly in higher level of religiosity. Authoritarian and conservative tendencies are to certain level associated with each other, nevertheless they do not create an integral complex. There is evidence of a group with authoritarian value orientation and culturally liberal position at the same time; in Slovak conditions it is the case of the electorate of left wing party Smer (Direction). Value orientations and perceiving of meaning in life by Jehovah´s Witnesses

This thesis is concerned with the research of values, value orientations and perceiving meaning in life by members of the Jehovah´s Witnesses religious community. It´s goal is to identify, which values recognise Jehovah´s Witnesses and how do they perceive meaning in life. In theoretical part is characterized this religious community and described values, value orientations and meaning in life as a psychological and other social sciences phenomena. In empirical part are observed values and meaning in life of 4 research participants - Jehovah´s Witnesses. Research was realized in a qualitative design, using methods of Grounded Theory and using semi-structured interview as a technique of data collection. On the basis of data analysis are presented recognized values and perceiving meaning in life by Jehovah´s Witnesses.
The Value Orientation of Czech and German Adolescents

This diploma thesis describes values and value orientation of czech and german students of high schools and practicle high schools. The goal of this thesis is to answer the question of different perception of values between adolescents in Czech Republic and Germany (Bavaria). For the purpose of this study a method of questionnaires and essays were used. The main means of research were: ?Test of orientation value? and the LOGO test from Elisabeth Lukas.
Life Satisfaction and Value Orientations in the Contemporary Adolescent Youth

The study is a part of the research project: The determinants of life satisfaction in the contemporary adolescent youth: personality, values and social perspectives (supported by GA ČR). The present study focuses on the relations among value orientations and life satisfaction. Value orientations are derived on the basis of empirical typology, and personality determinants are taken into account as well. The research sample consists of the adolescents (n=841) attending second and third classes of various types of secondary schools in South Moravia.
Methods of value orientetion measuring

The article deals on the problemacy of the methods of value orientation measuring.In the introductory part the autor briefly sketches out an overview of the solutions of the qustion of values and value orientations. The following part of the article focuses on various typologies of the values orientations, which are a theoretical background for concrete methods. The final part of the article deals on the concrete diagnostical value orientation methods - Value Hierarchy Test(M.Rokeach) and Study of Values(Allport, Vernon, Lindzey).
