Use of dynamic environments in the study of spatial memory
Staňková, Anna ; Svoboda, Jan (advisor) ; Vodička, Martin (referee)
Spatial memory allows movable organisms to orientate and stay therefore alive in an environment. At the beginning of previous century general rules of spatial memory were studied in static experimental conditions. Today's goal is to extend knowledge about its function also in dynamic environment. As a part of declarative memory, spatial memory depends on proper functionality of hippocampus. Hippocampus is considered to be centre of spatial memory not only because of spatial impairment when damaged, but also thanks to presence of place-specific neurons in several areas of hippocampus. In research of spatial memory experimental mazes are used with possibility to manipulate with orientation cues, maze itself and surrounding conditions. It is possible to make one-shot changes or continual changes. It could be rotation of cues and landmarks, transition of maze across the room, rotation of maze etc. Tasks in dynamic environment are more demanding on cognition and so spatial orientation, which makes them more sensitive to damages of spatial memory. This could be the way of using them as a diagnostic method in medicine.
Navigation Mesh for the Virtual Environment of Unreal Tournament 2004
Tomek, Jakub ; Gemrot, Jakub (advisor) ; Krajíček, Václav (referee)
Navigation mesh is a form of representation of a virtual environment, which allows effective navigation of intelligent virtual agents. This thesis deals with the development of a navigation mesh for the intelligent virtual agents in the environment of the computer game Unreal Tournament 2004. Before the development of the navigation mesh, the navigation graph was the only available representation of the environment that the agents could use for navigation. The navigation graph however provides only limited information about the environment. With the use of the navigation mesh the agents are able to navigate in the environment faster and over shorter paths. Creation of the navigation mesh from the environment's geometry extracted from Unreal Tournament 2004 map files is a part of the thesis. Finally, a new navigation module for Pogamut 3 - a platform that allows creation and controlling of intelligent virtual agents, is implemented. The new navigation module consists of the navigation mesh and a set of navigation algorithms Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The university and its campuses – information and navigation (mobile application)
Cupák, Michal ; Roupec, Jan (referee) ; Heriban, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with development of multiplatform mobile applications. Part of the thesis is the design and implementation of a mobile application to facilitate the orientation of people in a large university environment. The application is designed for Android and iOS mobile operating systems and is implemented in the Ionic development environment. The application provides basic information about individual buildings of the university, displays buildings on the map and allows the user to navigate these buildings.
Quadrocopter - stabilizace polohy pro autonomní let
MRÁZEK, Aleš
Bachelor thesis deals with general issues of multicopter autonomous space flight. Thesis is divided into several smaller parts, which are subsequently described. Possible solution is demonstrated on the Crazyflie development platform and Kinect sensor along with a computer vision library OpenCV.
iBeacon - New Technology in Retailing and Tourism
KŘÍŽOVÁ, Tereza
The purpose of this bachelor work is a proposal for the use of iBeacon technology for a specific subject and the subsequent costing for implementation of this technology. The particular purpose is the analysis of IBeacon technology focusing on the sector of trade and tourism. The academic part is dedicated to the description of iBeacon and analysis of potential uses in trade and tourism; it includes a comparison with other technologies, acceptance of the innovation by customers and specifications of selected technologies used in examined sectors. Practical part consists of five case studies. A proposal for the implementation of this technology in city of Pisek is put together based on the obtained information. Part of the thesis is a calculation that enumerates expenses for the implementation of the concept for one year and a list of potential benefits for the city.
Terrain passability analysis using machine understanding of maps
Pařík, David ; Jelínek, Aleš (referee) ; Chromý, Adam (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with creation of computer aplication that can be used for conversion of raster maps for orienteering into model. Aplication will use this model to calculate optimal track between two selected locations. The thesis describes the development of a module for speed analysis in different types of terrain and another module for detection of roads and impassable objects. Thesis builds on work of Ing. Pavol Kršák and describes new features that were implemented to simplify user's control.
Applications of multiple reference frames environments in behavioral research
Telenský, Petr ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Němec, Pavel (referee) ; Otáhal, Jakub (referee)
This work has been motivated by the desire to enhance our knowledge about specific cognitive requirements of navigation in multiple reference frames environments and to understand the roles of the hippocampus and posterior parietal cortex in this behavior. The main conclusions of this thesis are: (a) We have developed a novel behavioral test called the Enemy Avoidance Task. The initial set of experiments has shown that laboratory rats are able to plan their movement with respect to a to-be-avoided moving object. Behavioral performance in the task may be quantitatively evaluated. (b) The aforementioned ability is crucially dependent on the functional integrity of the dorsal hippocampus. To the contrary, functional inactivation of the dorsal hippocampi by local infusion of tetrodotoxin did not cause any impairment in the ability of the animal to estimate its distance from a non-moving object. The finding suggests a specific role of the hippocampus in dynamic cognitive processes required for flexible navigation strategies such as continuous updating of information about the position of a moving stimulus. These results are at odds with the two major theories of hippocampal function (Cognitive map theory and Declarative memory theory) and therefore suggest that revision of the theories is necessary. Public transport route searching using moves afoot
Jiráček, Zbyněk ; Babilon, Robert (advisor) ; Foniok, Jan (referee)
Finding the fastest way between two given places is in recent hurried times quite useful thing. According to the complexity of traffic networks in larger cities a route searching engine becomes almost a necessity. Typical programs that focus on this problem usually do not pay attention to paths between individual stops and allow only movement in the scope of a single station. Many people, mostly those who do not know the area well enough, do not realize that in a city they can relatively quickly move by foot. Goal of this project is to design and implement a program which will be able to navigate user in the scope of a given city to a specified destination using means of public transport and walking. Instead of navigating only between stations, any place in map should be accepted.

Franěk, Dominik ; Slušný, Stanislav (advisor) ; Kudová, Petra (referee)
The goal of this work is design and realization of an autonomous mobile robot, capable of navigation and map creation, using stereoscopic camera and robotic operation system ROS. ** This is an added text for reaching minimal length needed for uploading into information system. **
Vector Based High and Low En-Route Aeronautical Charts
Latta, Martin ; Rydlo, Karol (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
Práce obsahuje teoretický úvod do problematiky a základní pojmy používané v letectví a navigaci. Další částí práce je průzkum, popis a zhodnocení existujících řešení a aplikací společně s návrhem a designem nového řešení. Nakonec je prezentována implementace demo aplikace pomocí WebGL knihovny a výsledné vyhodnocení a porovnání.
