Introduction: Physical therapy is an essential part of medicine worldwide, helping with a wide range of issues across the population. The idea of this study was based on the assumption that physical therapy students themselves benefit from the acquired knowledge to maintain and improve their own health, which is particularly important given the physical demands of the physical therapy field. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine through a longitudinal, observational study, whether functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system occur in physical therapy students studying at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, and if so, how they develop over time during their studies. Methods: The research study involved 16 students (2 males and 14 females, with an average age of 20.28 years.) The measurements took place twice, once at the beginning of the first year of study immediately following enrollment at the university, and once at the end of the second year of study. Data collection was carried out at the Laboratory of Sports at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University under the supervision of department staff. The evaluated parameters included the level of physical activity assessed through a shortened form of the International Physical Activity...
The interference of muscular imbalance on people with spinal cord injury using method of Spiral stabilization
Turanská, Alexandra ; Vařeková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kovařovic, Vojtěch (referee)
Title: Influencing muscle imbalances in persons with transverse spinal cord injury using the spiral stabilization method Objectives: The main aim of this thesis was to investigate whether muscle imbalances in people with spinal cord lesions can be influenced by practicing the spiral stabilization method. Methods: Six wheelchair floorball players (5 male and 1 female), aged 36-52 years, with spinal cord lesions at the Th4-11 level (5 complete, 1 incomplete), 5 of whom had no previous experience with the spiral stabilization method, participated in the study. During the 3-month intervention, it was investigated whether the spiral stabilization method could be used to influence muscle imbalances in subjects with ML. Kinesiological assessment of muscle imbalances by faceting and palpation, sitting assessment using the Xsensor pressure mapping system, training diary and subjective assessment of the intervention by probands were used as data collection methods. All probands were provided with a video guide to follow during the study. Interest in practicing this method after the research was also surveyed. Results: Based on the results of the research, it can be said that the training of the spiral stabilization method had a positive effect on the influence of muscle imbalances and improvement of sitting...
Possibilities of physiotherapy for professional flute players
ŠEVČÍKOVÁ, Kateřina
Music is an integral part of human life. Its therapeutic effects have been described, but it also affects professional musicians in terms of physiology. When playing a musical instrument, a player's body position is strongly influenced especially for musical instruments that require an asymmetrical posture. The flute belongs to this group of musical instruments. Playing this musical instrument may therefore involve certain health risks. The aim of this bachelor's thesis was to describe the movement stereotypes that may arise when playing the transverse flute, and then to propose compensatory exercises to mitigate the risks of musculoskeletal disorders in flutists. The theoretical part of the thesis includes a description of kinesiology concepts relevant to the subsequent practical part, such as movement stereotypes, deep stabilization system, posture and shoulder joint kinesiology. Furthermore, asymmetric loading and ergonomics of playing the flute are described. Health problems that can often occur in professional flute players are also discussed. The practical part describes qualitative research that was conducted with a group of flute players. A kinesiological examination was performed on the respondents. The lateral scapular slide test was used as an additional test to assess the relative position of the scapulae. The practical part also included the education of exercises from a pre-prepared exercise unit aimed at preventing the development of, as well as compensating for, movement stereotypes in flute players. From the results, we can say that the inclusion of compensatory exercises to the flute playing was beneficial for the respondents. The content of the paper could be used in clinical physiotherapy, and could also be useful for professional flutists themselves, or in the teaching of the flute in Primary Art Schools.

BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Aneta Strejciusová Supervisor: Mgr. Eva Aujezdská Title: Musculoskeletal disorders and kinesiotherapy options in pregnant women Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of frequent musculoskeletal disorders in pregnant women and kinesiotherapy options. The aim of the work is to describe these disorders and difficulties associated with them and to apply kinesiotherapy to selected patients in a suitable way to prevent or at least affect them. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part first describes the changes taking place in all body systems during pregnancy. The next chapter deals with physical activities in this period. The main chapter of the theoretical part of the work describes in detail the most common disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which include decrease of the arch of the foot, low back pain, diastasis of the abdominal muscles, pelvic floor dysfunction and carpal tunnel syndrome. In the last chapter of the theoretical part mentions selected physiotherapeutic concepts and methods that can be used in kinesiotherapy in pregnant women. The practical part of the work consists of case reports of three patients containing kinesiological examination, the goal and plan of therapy and a description of past...

Lonek, Jan ; Pavlů, Dagmar (advisor) ; Reckziegelová, Petra (referee)
Title The prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among wind instrument players Objectives The aim of this thesis is to determine the prevalence of playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMD) in players on wind instruments in the Czech Republic, to determine their consequences and to identify related factors. Methods This thesis has the character of a cross-sectional study with a questionnaire survey. The study included 308 players on wind musical instruments. Outcomes The prevalence of PRMD was 55 % for the whole music group and 62 % for professional players. The higher prevalence of PRMD was statistically significantly associated with the student status (p=0.001), female sex (p=0.026), playing time on the dominant instrument weekly (p=0.001), and earlier incidence of PRMD (p=0.000). 31 % of players confirmed wrist/hand problems, 31 % confirmed problems in the neck area and 28 % confirmed problems in the upper back area. Because of PRMD, participants most frequently visited a health specialist such as a physical therapist and when dealing with their difficulties alone, most often they did some kind of physical activity. Conclusion The prevalence of PRMD in professional players was at a lower level than in foreign literature. Students, women, players playing more hours per week and players...
