The Pianist's Feeling for Harmony in Compositions from Romanticism
Široká, Zuzana ; Gregor, Vít (advisor) ; Palkovská, Jana (referee)
This thesis explores different ways in which pianist perceive harmony in compositions of the Romantic era. I write about history of harmony and about the context of the Romantic era at the beginning of the thesis. Then I write about Chopin and about his work with a motion, a sound and harmony. The rest of the work devotes to the research. I conducted qualitative research. I interviewed four pianists, with each pianist we talked about three compositions of the Romantic era. I gave scores of the Chopin's Mazurka B minor, op. 30, no. 2 to all of them, the rest of the compositions were chosen by the pianists. They had to choose two compositions, which were created by R. Schumann, S. Rachmaninoff, or F. Liszt. I ask them questions, which realize me to find how they work with the tonality, and to find if they find some characters in keys. I wanted to find how much is important the relief for the hands for them and how much they tend to make a detailed harmonic analysis. I also tried to find if the analysis is rather intuitive or conducted process for them. I interviewed very successful piano teacher Viktoria Kraf and three famous Czech pianists Jaroslava Vernerová, Miroslav Sekera and Jan Jiraský, the professor of the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno. The answers of the pianists can...
Philosophical Work of Nikolai Lossky
Haicl, Matouš ; Nykl, Hanuš (advisor) ; Filová, Simona (referee)
This thesis presents the philosophical system of Nikolai Lossky. The thesis includes basic Lossky's biographical data and the philosophical system itself is interpreted from the point of view of three philosophical fields - gnoseology, metaphysics and ethics. Lossky was conceiving his system progressively with an emphasis on its inner interconnection. Firstly he formulated his study of intuition, by which he entered a dialogue with the European tradition because of his new concept of human cognition. Afterwards he postulated the dichotomy of two spheres of the world - the kingdom of God and the kingdom of dissension. A human being stands between these two worlds and theirs life mission is to find a way back to God. In the end there are presented some of the applications of Lossky's basic theses in a few shorter works and there is also a valuation of Lossky's contribution for today's philosophical tradition and possible perspectives of development of his thoughts.

Rituals as a Rudimentary Product of Magical Thinking
Trčková, Tereza ; Valentová, Hana (advisor) ; Špačková, Klára (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on magical thinking in the age of adulthood. The primary aim is to discover and define the particular manifestations of the magical thinking in adulthood and compare them with magical thinking in childhood. A further aim is to find a link between magical thinking and religion, and between magical thinking and field of education of participants. Research methodologies include qualitive field research accompanied by semi- structured interviews. The finding of the research show that magical thinking is more often found in child thinking, but it could be discovered in adulthood as well, there are no differences among principles and forms of magical thinking in childhood and adulthood. Magical thinking is more often found in atheists and there is no link between magical thinking and field of education of participants. The discussion concludes that magical thinking emerges in stressful situations and it is associated with anxiety and feelings of uncertainty. Magical thinking serve important functions - it is a coping strategy and it could reduce an anxiety.
From Descates' Mind to Kant's Reason
Dekastello, Petr ; Hill, James (advisor) ; Palkoska, Jan (referee)
The basic subject-matter of my research is R. Descartes' Meditations On First Philosophy and I examine the term intellect and its position within the mind and its relation to thought. My work includes a study of sensation and imagination which provide the intellect with "material" to judge. The objective of my thesis is to demonstrate the role the intellect plays in terms of reason and to present an interpretation of the way in which the mind is designated in relation to reason according to Rene Descartes in his writing and in his responses to objections. The position and functions of the intellect are understood as a logical structure of mutual dependence and as the elements essential for the understanding of the human soul substance. At the end of my thesis I demonstrate that the system of reason of R. Descartes might be considered as the basis for the transcendental conception of reason in Kant's philosophy, which leads to an idealistic world conception and is founded on thinking a priori. Flat and formalistic approach in law
Pavlíček, Libor ; Maršálek, Pavel (referee)
Flat and formalistic approach in law Many processes in law take place automatically and through inertial force, without admitting one's free will and without encompassing values important to man (freedom, dignity, justice). The bearers of the process of automation in law are Machines (or Automats), i.e. tools ensuring primary legal certainty. However, in addition to the subpage of legal certainty, law also consists of the subpage of justice and effectiveness, which is not controlled by Automats, because their algorithms do not often reflect this subjective dimension in law. The trend of automation in law undoubtedly contributes to a number of improvements, however, there appear risks as well. Since the human soul cannot be programmed by Automats, it cannot be assumed that their decision-making, i.e. their output, will be fair and effective in all circumstances. However, in traditional approach in law this output is considered equal to a binding legal norm. As an example of Automat in the field of mobility the traffic lights may serve, in the field of state administration there are automatic forms or formulas, in the judiciary Automat is represented by a judge acting as a robot (subsumption automat), and artificial intelligence may be seen as the most sophisticated Automat of all. Automats are tools...

THE LIFE OF IMPULSES
Jandáčková, Kateřina ; ADÁMEK, Jiří (advisor) ; KLÍMA, Miloslav (referee)
Kateřina Jandáčková in her diploma thesis THE LIFE OF IMPULSES, The Hidden Role of Coincidence and Intuition in a Creative Process examinates the phenomenon of intuition through her own experience. She percieves intuition as something that helps her to capture and to preserve all the external and internal random impulses that originate during collecting of material and searching for a theme for prepared production, or during rehearsals. Each chapter has a title of one of her own seven productions. In those chapters the author of this thesis reflects her previous knowledge and conclusions. Also she reflects certain problems conected with this theme that she dealt with during rehearsals. In the end she finds common thematic link that connects all her productions up to date and which also responds with her social opinion.
The Element of Randomness and Its Effect
Vášová, Viktorie ; NOVÁK, Vladimír (advisor) ; KROBOT, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with the element of randomness during the rehearsal stage, and with integrating unpredictable impulses which arise from the process into the prepared scope of the performance. This study is a reflection on the author’s own experience during her Bachelor’s degree. It is based on an analysis of specific projects, most importantly, the author’s final performance ADA. We will focus, above all, on the question of how the rehearsal phase is influenced by the type of material that serves as the basis for the process, and whether and to what extent it is possible for unpredictable impulses to influence the result.
