Jan Kaňák, Ph.D. Bc. Markéta Merklová, DiS. Praha 2022 Abstract In my diploma thesis, I address the question "How do the curators of the criminal activities of children and youth of one selected OSPOD in the Czech Republic construct a response to the dilemma of intervening vs not intervening in their normal practice?". My effort was to describe how curators of criminal activities of children and youth, as specifically targeted social workers of OSPOD, create responses to the dilemma of intervene vs not intervene. The motivation for choosing this topic was that I myself, as a former curator, faced this dilemma and did not know how to respond adequately and in time to such situations. The greatest support for me at that time was sharing the situation with colleagues who did not always have the time and desire to think about the topic. I was interested in whether curators encounter these situations and how they react to them. These findings can subsequently serve as...

BLÁHOVÁ, Petra
The diploma thesis focuses on the core and issues related to the work of a social worker and it strives to evaluate the essence of their moral profile. Based on that, it was necessary to define the terms of social work and thus state that a social worker must have a whole range of knowledge, abilities and skills. These include so-called soft skills such as empathy, the ability to listen, the ability to solve conflicts, communication skills. The personal value ladder, characteristics, life views and experience and many others determine the social worker´s approach towards their clients. In the next part I was dealing with ethical dilemmas the social worker faces and they are trying to manage via specific types of approach. The main objective of this thesis was to uncover what kinds of ethically dilemmatic situations the social workers may encounter and what strategies they choose to use in order to manage them.

Mothers talk about a great deal of workload not only at their jobs but also at home, fulfilling the role of the main caretakers.

The dilemma of social work at the Department of Social and Legal Protection of Children
ŠKAMPOVÁ, Jana
The aim of the bachelor thesis was to identify the dilemmas of the social workers, who give suggestions for taking the child out of the care of parents to court. In the theoretical part, the basic concepts connected and relevant to the given topic have been explained. This section is divided into three chapters. In the practical part, there a research question was answered which was chosen on the basis of the research goal: What dilemmas are being solved by DSLPCH social workers in practice? A qualitative research strategy was selected for the research, and a semi-structured interview technique was used. Data analysis was performed by the encoding method. The research group was selected by purposeful selection and is made up of six social workers working at the SLPCH (social and legal protection of children) and having at least one experience in filing a proposal about taking the child out of the parets'care to court. Semi-structured interviews were conducted into the theoretical saturation of the sample. The research section showed that a social worker in the SLPCH department faces dilemma situations every day. The most sensitive dilemma is the dilemma whether or not to file a proposal to take the child out of the parents' care to court. Solving dilemma situations depends on the decision, experience, and conscientiousness of the social worker. It also depends on the willingness and collective cooperation of all social workers in the SLPCH department, as the most common solution to dilemma situations has been the consultation of the dilemma with the other colleagues. Based on the views, experience and advice of colleagues, a social worker decides to proceed further in a dilemma situation. Experience is one of the most valuable things in this department because there is no comprehensive system for the right procedure, because each situation is different and needs to be done individually. The results of the research may be beneficial to social workers who encounter similar dilemmas.

The human being the community worker is the most important factor in community work. In the first chapter there is an insight into the theory of virtue ethics from the ancient times to the present days, along with the virtue definition, the deconstruction of cardinal and theological virtues and it also discusses how we acquire virtues. The second chapter deals with value ethics. The author tries to answer a question what is the core of values, which one stands above all, what is the way to the meaning of values and, by extension, of a human - being, what is the value definition. It also reflects the values formed by social exclusion.
