Possibilities of diagnosis and development of partial functions in preschool children with hearing impairment

The thesis explores the possibilities of diagnosing and developing partial functions in preschool-aged children with hearing impairments considering the importance of these skills for acquiring basic school competencies such as reading, writing, and counting. Children with this type of impairment constitute a specific group that may face difficulties in obtaining information from the auditory environment, affecting the acquisition of necessary knowledge and skills. The aim of the thesis is to describe currently used diagnostic tools for working with preschool-aged children with hearing impairments. A secondary objective is to assess whether and to what extent any improvements in the test results can be observed during controlled activities compared to periods when such activities were not conducted. Realized six-month research included initial diagnostics of partial functions, subsequent controlled activities focused on their development, and final testing of selected children with hearing impairments. Based on evaluation and analysis of the obtained data, conclusions of the thesis provide recommendations for a diagnostic approach and support for the development of preschool-aged children with hearing impairments. Using of NTC method to the development of partial functions of preschool children

This dissertation is focused on the development of skills of children in preschool age. The work is split into the theoretical and practical parts. The chapters of the theoretical part deal with the characteristics of child's progress in preschool age as well as with partial function development, personal growth and upbringing in the preschool age. The work is focused on the education of children in preschools and on the monitoring of school maturity. The practical part of the dissertation concentrates on the implementation of the NTC Stimulation Programme into the pedagogical and educational activities of the Salomon Preschool, a private education center for preschool children. In the practical part, the NTC method is evaluated based on the comparison of the research group with a control group consisting of children attending state preschool. Furthermore appropriate activities for preschool children are recommended. The recommended activities are focused on the support of specific key competencies and skills. Comparison of teaching methods for initial reading at the beginning of the second grade The thesis focuses on the initial fading teaching methods. It introduces historic development of the methods used in Czech schools as well as current situation. The thesis consists of two main parts. The first part is a summary of information acquired from expert literature. The second part is practical and includes the description and conclusion of a research. The theoretical part focuses on the pre-reading stage and the effect of pre-school education on reading. It presents information about the development of particular functions, clarifies importance of development of skills necessary to master correct technique of reading and introduces factors affecting child's readiness to enter school. Chapter focused on alternative reading teaching methods is also included. The practical part describes comparison of three most frequently used methods of teaching initial reading. Options of development of partial functions of pre-school children Abstract This thesis is focused on issue of the development of partial functions in preschool age and mapping of the course of development of partial functions in kindergartens in Karlovy Vary Region and Prague. The task of the theoretical part is to define the notions of partial functions and partial functions deficits and to explain their relationship to specific learning disabilities. It describes the characteristics of preschool age and options of development of partial functions in its course. It includes basic information about school maturity, pedagogical- psychological diagnostics of children in kindergartens. It mentions also the child's enrollment in the first grade of primary school and school attendance delay. The aim of practical part is to map the access of kindergarten teachers to options of development of partial functions in Karlovy Vary Region and Prague, comparing the survey results obtained in these two regions and supplement obtained data with the information gathered from the interview. The thesis thematically focuses on the prevention of specific learning disabilities in preschool children. The theoretical part of the thesis characterizes the development of a child in preschool age and individual types of specific learning disabilities. Thereafter, the possibilities of screening and diagnostics of individuals at risk of specific learning disabilities and concrete diagnostic and preventive methods used in the Czech environment are presented. The aim of the diploma thesis is to create a program to prevent the emergence of specific learning disabilities, through the selection of activities aimed at the progress of individual areas of development and partial functions, especially those which are found by the research to be the least developed. The basis for the creation of a prevention program consists of data obtained in the diagnosis of the level of partial functions in preschool children and experience gained during targeted work with children at risk of developing SLD. Diagnostics and development of partial funcions of pre-school children with hearing disabilities

This thesis deals with the diagnostics and development level of partial functions of preschool children, due to the necessity of the skills for acquiring basic school skills, ie. reading, writing and counting. Children with hearing disabilities are a specific group in this area due to the possible difficulties in obtaining information from the majority auditory society, and thus acquiring the necessary knowledge. One of the goals of the thesis presented here is to find out what diagnostic materials are suitable and evaluating for children with hearing disabilities in preschool age. Whether tests are primarily focused for this group of children or tests designed for hearing children can be used effectively. The second goal of this thesis is to determine if and to what extent there will be an improvement in test results in case of controlled activities took place with children in comparison with the period when similar activities were not carried out with them. A six-month research was conducted with selected children with hearing disabilities, during which they were repeatedly tested using two different diagnostic materials. Possibilities of the development of preschool children in a asylum homes

This Diploma Thesis is designed as a case study based on qualitative research focusing on searching the options of support on pre-school children development in the environment of shelters for mothers or families with children. In the theoretical part starting points are presented regarding the issues of family, shelter, school maturity and readiness as well as an issue of constituent functions, possibilities of their diagnostics and development. The initial part of the empiric part describes methodological processes and a research plan is presented. Followed by research report regarding the study in twelve shelters in Prague. One of the research goals was to design a simple manual of development for children aged 3-6 which might have been used as a support for social workers in those shelters. The research tools included questionnaires and interviews among social workers. The questionnaires helped to map the size of shelters, length of stay and characteristic of their clients, approach of institutions to the development of pre-school and school age children as well as the attitudes of social workers towards such development of pre-school children. Special education support for children form socially exculded localities in education in preschools and primary schools

The topic of the master thesis is Special education support for children from socially excluded localities in education in preschools and primary schools. The thesis deals with the topic of social disadvantage of children of pre-school and elementary school age. The theoretical part is focused on defining the terms social disadvantage and socially excluded area. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the influence of the families on social learning of children and the consequences of social disadvantage on the children's development and education. Two chapters of the thesis deal with the possibilities of support for socially disadvantaged children. One of them is devoted to the provision of support measures at schools, the other one defines some strategies and programs aimed at the development of the children. The practical part analyses the results of a research survey mapping the level of development of particular selected functions in children from socially excluded areas. The used research method was testing. The research involved testing of 10 children from socially excluded areas and their results were compared to the testing results of other 10 children who were not from socially excluded areas.
