Support of youth civic engagement in the Czech Republic: National Youth Strategy for years 2014-2020

The main topic of this thesis is the support of youth participation in the Czech Republic and related national youth policy, as defined in the National Youth Strategy for the years 2014- 2020. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and evaluate the process of creation, implementation and evaluation of this Strategy. Furthermore, the fulfillment of the strategic goal SC8, which focuses on the support of active involvement of young people, is evaluated. The thesis also includes an analysis of key actors, an informalized analysis of discourses related to youth policy and international comparison. Aims of the Strategy 2014-2020 were fulfilled through several implementation tools. The main tools were state grant programs for work with children and youth for NGOs, subsidy programs at the regional level, the Erasmus + program and cooperation with the NN LAG Czech Republic. The analysis of the Strategy evaluation process showed that the real process differed in some respects from the original plan. Monitoring of the fulfillment of strategic goals of the Strategy 2014-2020 should be provided by thematic groups, which, however, disintegrated during the validity of the Strategy. Controversial issues in civic education: example of gender and stereotypes

The thesis is focused on research on teaching controversial issues in civic education. The aim is to examine the utilization of controversies in classes and the analysis of the application of various methods using controversies. In the first part the theoretical base of the thesis was defined and also the importance of integrating controversial topics was explained. Moreover, the anchorage in curricular documents was presented and also the psychological theories of development of thinking and moral together with different methods were described. In the second part, the methodological base of the thesis was stated and one concrete lesson with the topic of gender and stereotypes was drafted. The qualitative research took place in two classes of secondary school in the form of active observations of students and structured interviews with their teachers of civic education. The results show some differences in students' competences according to the amount of integration of controversial topics in classes. The diploma thesis Teaching Civic Education at the Elementary Schools in České Budějovice focuses on the current state of civic education at elementary schools in České Budějovice. The theoretical part deals with the system of curricular documents, analysis of the Framework Educational Program for basic education and its subsequent comparison with individual school educational programs at selected elementary schools in České Budějovice. The practical part presents interviews with four teachers who teach the subject of civic education at selected elementary schools in České Budějovice. These are the following elementary schools: Kubatova Elementary School and Kindergarten, Elementary School Matice školské, Church Elementary School and Elementary School and kindergarten of J. Š. Baara.
Attitudes to Society and School of Students in Secondary Vocational Schools

The thesis focuses on the issue of civic attitudes adopted by students of vocational schools. The author presents an overview of previous Czech research which shows that students of vocational schools are placed at the bottom of international surveys inquiring civic and political knowledge. Moreover, the results reveal that the students of vocational schools express their support for democracy as a way of government the least. The goal of the thesis is to describe civic and political opinions of concrete students and show who influences them and how. It is designed as a multiple case study. Six students of vocational schools from Prague, a smaller town and a village in Central Bohemian Region were chosen to participate in the study. The core of the work is the description of the individual cases in a detailed context including their family, community, school and friends. The findings indicate that the studied students are usually not interested in politics. Their political beliefs are heavily formed by their family and peers. School as an institution does not have any influence, not even through civic education which is compulsory during the first years of high school education. Diploma thesis "Content issues of teaching civic education through the changes of time (with focus on professional journals dealing with civic education)" is dealing with an evolution of a content of civic education in the 20th and at the beginning of the 21st century on pages of professional-oriented journals. The first part of the diploma thesis deals with the history of civics. It describes the evolution since the establishment of civics in Czechoslovakia until the evolution after the Velvet Revolution in the Czech Republic. The second part of the diploma thesis introduces five journals devoted to a subject of civic education. These are the magazines Časopis československé obce učitelské, Časopis pro občanskou nauku a výchovu, Společenské vědy ve škole, Občanská výchova: časopis pro občanskou výchovu, filosofii, psychologii a logiku a Společenskovědní předměty: čtvrtletník pro pedagogy základních a středních škol. The final part of the diploma thesis is dedicated to articles from the journals mentioned above which describe the content transformation of teaching civic education.

The thesis wants to answer questions how these documents inform about the Czech political system and whether these documents keep a constitutional scheme and whether these documents can contribute to making misconceptions of the Czech political system.
Roma pupils and the civic education on practical primary schools

The diploma thesis deals the phenomenon of education of Roma children in the system of special elementary education. The aim of the thesis is to capture the specifics of this education focusing on the analysis of the civic education on primary practical schools in context of relationships to Roma pupils. The theoretical part is focused on the current situation of the Roma minority in the Czech republic. The work briefly describes the history of the Roma minority and the current situation of Roma people in the modern society. Most attention is paid to the Czech primary educational system, especially teaching Roma pupils on practical primary schools. The work briefly deals with the current changes in the educational system, so called inclusive education too. The practical part is focused on the methodology of the multicultural education themes, on the second degree of an elementary practical school in Vimperk.

Far-right Subculture in the Free State of Saxony

Předložená diplomová práce se zabývá subkulturou krajní pravice ve Svobodném státě - pojednáno v multidisciplinárním kontextu, práce vysvětluje důvod také využívá politologické roviny, vymezuje pojem pravicového extremismu a ukazuje jeho rávní úrovni je rozvedena reakce státu ve formě legislativních a represivních opatření. V kontextu občanského vzdělávání jsou prezentovány instituce a aktéři, kteří v Sasku na tomto poli působí s cílem eliminovat pravicový extremismus ve společnosti. Text rovněž definuje, jak velké nebezpečí subkultura ve společnosti představuje. Vláda se snaží s pravicovým extremismem vypořádat, i když se žádná politická strana nedostává přímo do parlamentu. Jde především o hrozbu společenskou spočívající v páchání trestné činnosti, schopnosti mobilizace a tvoření chybných ideologických přesvědčení. Stát chce primárně svoje občany chránit před kriminální činností, vzdělávat je a rozvíjet demokratické uvědomění, přičemž systém občanského vzdělávání Spolkové republiky Německo je celosvětově považován za vzor, jelikož se obor po druhé světové válce stal díky specifickému vnímání pravicového extremismu součástí německé identity
