Problems of on-line banking systems integration using SOA principles

This diploma thesis adresses on-line banking systems integration using SOA principles. The objective of this work is to define difficulties of integration and offer and analyze their possible solutions. Integration problems mostly pertain to the areas of service design and management, from both the service design and service run-time point of view. The work tries to combine SOA theoretical principles and author's work experience. The diploma thesis is divided into several chapters. First two chapters establish theoretical framework of the thesis and concentrate on describing the banking sector environment and defining banking IS characteristics impacting system integration endeavours. Moreover they try to define SOA and analyze banking SOA specifics. Next chapter describes actual IS architecture of the enterprise, whose problems will be analyzed in the practical part of the diploma thesis. Main part of the work goes into defining particular SOA integration issues. Every issue is analyzed and possible solutions are then offered with emphasis of impact on IS architecture. Main asset of the diploma thesis should be author's extensive work experience with systems integration using SOA principles.
Business Activity Monitoring

Main focus of the thesis lies in the corporate management decision support deploying and using IT / ICT. Specific technology described is Business Activity Monitoring. The contribution of the work lies primarily in two planes. The first plane is to create as far as the most comprehensive view of the BAM. The findings are collected from different directions and areas. The first direction of research is focused on the development of Business Intelligence and description of BAM as a trend of BI, including the stages of development and projections into the future. The second direction focuses primarily on a detailed circumscribe of BAM. Its definition, deployment assumptions, basic models, the way how business can benefit from BAM usage. The third guideline shows the classification of BAM surrounded by the other / similar technologies and business solutions -- BI and BSM, and the search key differences. The second level of the work is to support the AML implementation in a specific environment of banks using BAM. This is a practical demonstration of the possibility of using BAM in practice. Basic design solution lies in the analysis of risks arising from the law and the current state of the solution. By mapping of banking processes and searching for points of risk it is then possible to deploy these risks BAM tools for their management. Motion of support lies mainly in conceptual terms.
Possibilities of CPM solution in banking sector

This thesis addresses issues of measuring and managing the performance of commercial bank institutions by means of a system called Corporate Performance Management (CPM). The theoretical part of this work is devoted to introduction of banking industry and methods of performance measurement in commercial banks. It introduces a general concept and key components of CPM supported by Business Intelligence technology. In the practical part of this work there is introduced the design of two concrete CPM solutions which are being currently built in banks -- KPI processing and interest margin calculation. The main thesis contribution to the existing literature is a creation of complex material about relevant aspects of implementation CPM solutions in data warehouses of commercial banks and creation the conceptual design of a concrete solution.

This diploma thesis deals with the process of recruiting and selecting staff from the personnel management point of view. The thesis describes the Czech Republic and New Zealand, characterizes their banking systems, analyses the process of recruiting and selecting for the position of Customer Service Representative, Phone Assist and Cards Inbound into the Call Centre Group at two international banks operated on the different parts of the world and on the different labour markets. At the end, it indicates strengths and weaknesses and suggests some recommendation for more efficient process by using the theoretical knowledge.
Comparative analysis of fixed-term deposits and saving accounts in the offer of Czech banks

On the basis of ascertained information this products would be compared. The purpose is to find the best option to save money from the offered deposit products.
Location Behaviour of Companies in Banking Sector

The main aim of this thesis is to find regularities and patterns of banking branches distribution in particular regions. In the first part of the work there is a detailed overview of location behaviour of the selected banks in the Czech regions and districts. The second part represents simple process of finding ideal location for future bank branches establishing. This process is also applied to case studies, which are part of this thesis as well. The results show that geographical distribution of selected banks corresponds to the urban system of the Czech Republic. The capital city of Prague proved to be exceptional considering urban structure of the Czech republic. The analysis shows quite high differences in bank branches distribution in Czech districts. Very high concentration in relation to number of inhabitants was recorded in border districts of Plzeňský region and Jihočeský region. On the other hand, Most district and Ústí nad Labem district still offer high potential for bank branches expansion. We can expect continuing of bank branches expansion, because branches still have irreplaceable position regarding bank operations and creating new bank accounts.
Competition policy of EU in the field of state aid

This thesis deals with competition policy in the field of state aid. The objective is to outline how the system of granting the state aid works and how the regulations are anchored in the legislation of EU. On the other hand the thesis wants to offer different points of view on the policy. The second half of the paper focuses on the Czech banking sector -- it studies the environment of late 90s and compares the positions of big bank before their privatization. The case of Komerční banka has been chosen to analyze the specific impacts of granted state aid.
Evaluation methods of banks from point of view of different user's groups

My bachelor work is devoted to specific problematic of bank evaluation. Right approach to bank evaluation is necessary to succeed in complicated financial market. The aim of this work is to explain bank evaluation in broad context of dynamically developing economic enviroment. Diversities in evaluation process are explained on whole user's spectra. Extent of my work allows to describe procedures, define principles and ties among each user's groups and methods, which are used in evaluation process. It is necessary to mention, that in most cases we do not know the exact procedure because it is a subject of business secret. Important point of my work was to find ties among subjects and place the problematic of evaluation to unified conceptual framework.
