An Understanding of Transgenerational Transmission in a Family from a Perspective of Middle-Aged Individuals
Tanzerová, Adéla ; Preiss, Marek (advisor) ; Viktorová, Ida (referee)
This rigorous thesis focusses on transgenerational transmission and the repeated themes of family memory from the perspective of middle-aged individuals. It is based on the master's thesis called Posttraumatic stress and growth in holocaust survivors and their families. Firstly, the theoretical part defines the terms 'stress', 'trauma' and 'posttraumatic growth'. Afterwards, attention is brought to the historical perspective on traumatic events of the 20th century which deeply affected the lives of respondents (the Second World War, the period of communism) and the topic of transgenerational transmission in the family narrative. The empirical component of the thesis is based on quantitative and qualitative research. The first part is dedicated to the mapping of specific aspects of posttraumatic stress and growth in Holocaust survivors and their offspring (N = 150, data collected by CEITEC). In accordance with other studies, the thesis concludes that Holocaust survivors and their offspring have higher levels of posttraumatic stress and growth and that linear dependence exists between these two phenomena. By contrast, the qualitative research (N = 21) was focused on the transgenerational transmission in the family memory: namely the topics of family roles and functioning as well as subjects such as...
The expectations about school in children primarily with hearing impairment or communication disability
Kalousová, Tereza ; Viktorová, Ida (advisor) ; Medřická, Tereza (referee)
The Master theses is focussing on children starting school and their expectations on school. Research is involving children with hearing disability and impaired communication skills. The essence of theses is to analyze these expectations. Specifically if these expectations are complex and in what specific way children's hearing or communication disability interferes with their expectations on school and with other areas such as drawing. Research is based on experience with sample of children primarily with hearing disability and impaired communication skills. All of these children attend the same type of school. Experiences come from two meetings I had with them. In the first phase all children attended kindergarten, in the second phase they were first grade pupils. In both phases they attended the same building, because kindergarten is part of the school. Their assignment was to draw a picture on a school theme. Then they were interviewed over their drawings. The collected data are thus processed qualitatively. In conclusion the results of the whole research are formulated, which were determined mainly on the basis of comparison with similar researches. However, those researches were focused on expectations of intact children. It turned out that the children from my group did not have as specific...
Children's drawing in pre-school age - mesure of enjoyed pleasure
Jindrová, Jitka ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Viktorová, Ida (referee)
The bachelor thesis views children's drawing as a game where children enjoy functional pleasure. The theoretical part presents the theoretical background, especially Teorie hry by M. Klusák and M. Kučera, and Ontogeneze lidské psychiky by V. Příhoda. The empirical part of the thesis follows up on the research of K. Haberhauerová, and presents a scale created by the author which evaluates the children's degree of enjoyment of drawing. Then, with the help of school-maturity-oriented tests an answer to the research question about whether there is any binding relationship between the level of enjoyment and the rate of cognitive development included in school maturity is searched for. The degree of this relationship and the potential benefits of these findings are presented in the conclusion.
