Transformation of the socio-political institution of an author after 1989
Šimánková, Pavlína ; Šmejkalová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Pýcha, Čeněk (referee)
This thesis focuses on the transformation of the literary environment and the societal position of the author after 1989. Before the revolution, official writers held a special societal status, being regarded as authorities representing desirable norms and values. With the beginning of democracy and a free market, came a drastic change, as they became commercial entities facing new challenges. Before the revolution, there were several parallel book markets (official, samizdat, and exile) with their own characteristics and limitations. The Velvet Revolution and subsequent changes in the economic environment opened the way for the unification of these markets into one, providing authors with broader publishing opportunities. Changes in the political climate removed censorship and opened up discussions on historical and personal topics. Writers found themselves in a new economic environment, where they lost state financial support and had to rely on the sales of their books. This new reality influenced not only their incomes but also their societal standing. The second part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of interviews with Jáchym Topol, a representative figure of this transformation. Keywords: 1989, Book Market, Velvet Revolution, Authors, Writers, 90s, Free Market, Censorship, Jáchym Topol
Distant reading of contemporary Czech fiction
Panušková, Charlotte ; Pýcha, Čeněk (advisor) ; Šlerka, Josef (referee)
This thesis explores the topic modelling of contemporary Czech prose using LDA and Top2Vec algorithms. It examines how the results of topic modelling correspond to existing knowledge in literary history and further analyses how these findings relate to classical literary theory. The study emphasizes the connection between digital methods of text analysis and traditional literary- historical and theoretical perspectives, offering a new interpretation of modern methods within the literary context. For modelling purposes, the corpus from the Czech National Corpus was used. The corpus was cleaned and divided into three subcorpora based on the publication date of the works. Models of both LDA and Top2Vec algorithms were created from all three subcorpora. To select the most accurate model, the thesis employs the coherence score metric Cv. The results of the models are then compared with present knowledge in literary history. The conclusion underscores that topic modelling serves as an approximation of the literary system rather than a direct means of revealing themes.

Post-war events in Czechoslovakia and its relation to the present
Dvořáková, Tereza ; Michela, Miroslav (advisor) ; Pýcha, Čeněk (referee)
The diploma thesis is devoted to the events that took place in Czechoslovakia after the end of the Second World War. The main topic of the thesis is limited to the years 1945-1948. The focus of the work is on three historical moments that shaped the restored republic and Czechoslovak society at the time, and the possibilities of their didactic interpretation in history classes. These are the displacement of the German population, decrees of the President of the Republic and retribution and people's judiciary. The first part of the work presents a historical interpretation of these events. The information that shaped the displacement and creation of the decrees is presented here. The course of post-war event is described here, the most important decrees and their functions are mentioned, and marginally, the work also touches on the settlement of the borderlands. The core part of the work is based on the analysis of textbooks for primary and secondary schools for the period from the 1990s to the present, which provides information on the development of interpretation and the degree of representation of individual topics. Next is the analysis of framework educational programs and selected school educational programs, which presents what opportunities the programs provide and whether the representation...
New media, new hegemony? Theoretical perspectives of postmarxism and affect theory
Scharf, David ; Pýcha, Čeněk (advisor) ; Šlerka, Josef (referee)
(in English): This diploma thesis is concerned with the relationship between new media and politics. To explore this link, two theoretical streams are employed - postmarxism with its theory of hegemony on one hand and affect theory with its new media studies branch on the other. Interaction of theoretical apparatuses from both of the streams is introduced through empirical case study, which traces discussions about racism in the sphere of Czech football from 2021. The thesis describes particularities of forming political relations in the environment of new media and suggests various directions for research of how new media influence broader hegemonic formations. These two movements aim to bridge a variety of theoretical gaps in between the fields of new media studies and political theory.
Sharenting: What Attitude Czech Parents and Children Have Towards Sharenting and the Proposal to Sharenting Regulation.
Chadimová, Pavla ; Slussareff, Michaela (advisor) ; Pýcha, Čeněk (referee)
(in English) This diploma thesis aimed to examine the attitudes of parents and children living in the Czech Republic towards the issue of sharenting and to propose measures to minimise the associated risks. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted, allowing a better insight into the areas related to the investigated phenomenon. In order to obtain answers to research questions related to sharenting and related topics - privacy and digital identity, 20 semi-structured interviews were conducted with parents (10 interviews) and children (10 interviews) of age 12-18 years. The results of the conducted research enable a closer understanding of the attitudes of children and parents towards the issue of sharenting and present a possible justification why, in the context of sharenting, one of the most important areas is trust in the parent-child relationship and the set boundary of privacy of both its actors. Moreover, a key area that proved to be crucial was negotiating rules for practising sharenting initiated by the parent before any privacy turbulence of the child's privacy occurs. Such behaviour could prevent many of the risks associated with sharenting. At the end of the thesis, proposals for the regulation of sharenting resulting from the conducted literature review were presented,...
Identifying user needs for teachers visiting museum websites
Holý, Mikuláš ; Wanča, Nina (advisor) ; Pýcha, Čeněk (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the user needs of teachers visiting museum websites. The thesis explores the current relationship of teachers to museum and gallery websites. The theoretical part focuses on the collaboration between museums and schools, the presentation of museums on the web and the current state of knowledge in this area. The practical part of the thesis consists of a quantitative survey in the form of an online questionnaire and analysis of the obtained results. The questions focus on the independent importance of websites for teachers and the content of websites that would enhance this importance. The research shows that teachers perceive museum websites, they are aware of their benefits and they are willing to use the online content the museum websites offer. However, they lack the necessary information about the events posted and about the use of online content, resulting in a preference for other communication channels. Therefore, museums and galleries do not need to change the whole concept of their websites, they just need to provide more relevant information about field trips and better inform teachers how to use the online materials offered.
Possibilities of presentation and interpretation of cultural heritage in digital environment
Motl, Jakub ; Pýcha, Čeněk (advisor) ; Wančová, Nina (referee)

It also presents legislation related to the presentation and interpretation of cultural heritage and four selected projects presenting cultural heritage objects in a digital environment. These are compared with each other and evaluated on the basis of features, thanks to which the most suitable platform is subsequently recommended. This section also presents significant theoretical works of the authors related to the topic of the work. The practical part consists of a case study of the Polabské Museum. The study evaluates the current state of the museum, its collections and the process of digitization and digital presentation of the institution. The research is based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with museum staff and potential visitors of the "digital museum". Czech library programs and their participants with special needs
Beštová, Markéta ; Pýcha, Čeněk (advisor) ; Kolínová, Pavlína (referee)
The bachelor thesis describes and defines cultural and educational programs in libraries and the possibilities of their adaptation or opening to groups of people with special needs. Its main goal is to explore Czech libraries' opportunities to open events to these people and suggests ways of solving the problematic situations specified. The theoretical part describes Czech libraries, their history, legislation that regulates their services, and the programs they organize. It also characterizes services to people with special needs, which is subsequently applied to the library environment. The last chapter discusses cultural and educational programs in Danish libraries, which opens up new possibilities for transforming these services in libraries in the Czech Republic. The research part evaluates the results of qualitative research carried out with the help of semi-structured interviews with respondents from ten selected regional libraries. The research was executed in regional libraries because of their wider financial, personnel, and spatial possibilities and the influence they have on smaller libraries in the regions through regional functions. Although the libraries are on the same level, each is defined by a unique approach to its mission. Thanks to the diversity of the sample, a large amount...
