Úlehla, Vojtěch ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Straková, Jana (referee)
The diploma thesis is aimed at the issue of delimitation the primary schools' catchment areas (PSCA). It follows on from the bachelor's thesis, in which a map representation and evaluation of the current delimitation of PSCA in the territory of Prague 3 Municipal District was realized. The diploma thesis deals with this topic in more depth from a theoretical-conceptual point of view, it describes the discussion of approaches to the distribution of children into primary schools during compulsory school attendance and the parental school choice in various countries, as well as diverse aspects that influence the delimitation of PSCA in Czechia. The focus of the thesis is the methodological part, the aim is to discuss available data sources related to the topic suitable for work in the environment of geographic information systems (GIS) and possible map representations of PSCA. An important part is dedicated to the proposal for the delimitation of PSCA using GIS as an allocation analysis. Everything is illustrated using the example of the Czech capital city, Prague, the current delimitation is compared with the proposal, and the appropriateness of current delimitation of PSCA is evaluated. Keywords: catchment area, primary school, Prague, map representation, geographic information systems, allocation...
Geographical aspects of the process of deinstitutionalization of the Sudetenland border
Korčák, Matěj ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Šimon, Martin (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to evaluate the impact of the former Sudeten German border as a primary factor on the socio-spatial differentiation of Czechia in time and space. The issue is viewed chronologically through the lens of the deinstitutionalization process. The main criterion evaluated within this process is the border's persistent effect on regional differences in its surroundings. The choice of indicators for which the degree of deinstitutionalisation is examined assumes that the expulsion of Czech Germans from the borderlands and the subsequent resettlement of the affected areas have transformed the population structures in the long term. At the local level, a quantitative analysis of selected indicators representing the three elementary population structures - demographic, social and economic - is conducted. The average values of the indicators are compared within the defined border zones in terms of substantive relevance. Data from the censuses between 1980 and 2021 are used, which allows us to track the changes in the influence of the historical boundary over time. A particular emphasis is placed on the spatial heterogeneity of the degree of deinstitutionalization of the Sudetenland border, which is thus analysed not only as a whole entity, but also in terms of its variability...
Long-term trends in the development of unemployment at the municipal level in selected countries of Central Europe
Sauerová, Kristýna ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Šťastná, Simona (referee)
The main aim of this master's thesis is to reveal patterns in spatial differentiation of unemployment at the municipal level in selected Central European countries and its changes in the new millennium. For this purpose, Central Europe is defined as the area of Poland, Czechia, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia. This research is focused on the identification of spatial clusters of unemployment rates in selected countries by using advanced spatial and statistical methods, such as the Hot Spot Analysis. The outputs of the analysis categorize all municipalities into two main groups - clusters with high unemployment rates and clusters with low unemployment rates. Thereafter, these two categories are subjected to detail quantitative research, which examines their stability over the selected period (from 2005 to 2021). A cluster membership for each municipality is further explained by binary logistic regression models using also spatial, size, and resistance determinants. Finally, the results are explained in historical, social, and economic contexts from the socio-economic geographical view of each country. The analysis work with a database of unemployment rate consisting of data provided by national statistical and labour offices. Data from each office was collected, edited, and entered into a...
Historical borders as a factor influencing socio-geographical differentiation - example of Czechia and Poland
Torgalo, Alexandr ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Burda, Tomáš (referee)
Historical border is any national or administrative boundary that has disappeared in the past. These boundaries are often still visible in the landscape, e.g., physically in the form of boundary stones. However, sometimes these boundaries have an impact in the socio-economic environment, long decades and sometimes centuries after their function have ceased. They are a common phenomenon in Europe where boundary changes have been frequent, especially in Poland and Ukraine. The aim of this thesis is to measure the effect of historical borders on contemporary spatial differentiation of socio-economic phenomena using the example of Czechia and Poland, focusing on the border of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in Czechia and the borders of European powers after the so-called third partition of Poland. It was examined on which sections of which types of borders the effect is most visible, on which types of spatial phenomena the historical borders have the greatest impact, and how the strength of the border effect and the spatial distribution of socio-economic phenomena have changed over the last 20 years. It was found that after 2011, the effect of historical borders in both Czechia and Poland is weakening, especially in demographic indicators, as the former German territories of both countries no...
Item analysis as a tool for the evaluation of didactic tests: the example of the course Statistics for geographers
Novotná, Kateřina ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Pěnička, Jaroslav (referee)
In today's education system, we often encounter poorly created didactic tests that do not actually test the knowledge and skills acquired through teaching, or only test them to a limited extent. For example, if items for closed-ended questions are unprofessionally created, students may even guess the correct answers without having any knowledge and skills in the subject area. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to evaluate the quality of closed-ended questions with a range of possible answers on the example of the final tests of the course Statistics for Geographers and, based on the obtained results, to recommend adjustments to specific items. The evaluation will be done based on item analysis using the ShinyItemAnalysis web application. In the case of poorly functioning questions, based on the results of the analysis, their modifications will be proposed so that they are more suitable for didactic testing. In the theoretical part, the bachelor's thesis will focus on the didactic test as a specific evaluation tool, its forms, individual types of test tasks and recommendations for their creation. Everything will be supplemented with specific examples from the field of statistics. The space will also be devoted to techniques of guessing answers, characteristics of test tasks and test theories....

Long-term tendencies of spatiotemporal differentiation of unemployment in Czechia with emphasis on seasonality
Havej, Petr ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Hasman, Jiří (referee)
This master thesis belongs thematically to the research of long-term trends of spatio-temporal differentiation in the Czech Republic. Within this theme, it focuses on several objectives. The first of them concerns the search for appropriate scale levels and region types for time-space analyzes of unemployment in the Czech Republic and the definition of as many homogeneous regions as possible in terms of the unemployment rate. Subsequently, the work at the appropriate level defined in this way focuses on the next goal, which is to reveal and describe the development of seasonality in unemployment in the Czech Republic. As part of this goal, the effort is to determine the significance of the phenomenon of seasonality in unemployment, its development in space and time, and to define groups of regions that are more or less affected by this phenomenon. One of the partial goals is also to reveal the development of spatial differentiation in unemployment in the last few years. The work uses detailed monthly data on the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic at the municipal level for the years 2002-2021 published by the Ministry of the Interior. The methods used in this work are entirely quantitative in nature, they come from the group of (time) spatial analyses, which include, for example, LISA, as well...
The use of cognitive difficulty of learning tasks in the teaching of mathematics and geography at the level of the implemented curriculum
Kotýnková, Natálie ; Netrdová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Stacke, Václav (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of cognitive demands in teaching at the second level of elementary schools, respectively at the lower levels of multi-year grammar schools at the level of the implemented curriculum. Specifically, attention is focused on learning tasks in two subjects, mathematics and geography. The aim of the diploma thesis is to assess the importance of including learning tasks of different cognitive demands in teaching from the point of view of current curricular reforms, and then to evaluate the possibilities of using learning tasks of different cognitive demands in the real teaching of mathematics and geography in Czech schools. The discussion about cognitive demands when planning the composition of lessons, student activation and the creation of supplementary teaching materials and tests is verified by our own research in Czech schools. A questionnaire survey was conducted among the teachers of eight schools, which was supplemented by interviews on the given topic. As part of processing the diploma thesis, worksheets with tasks for mathematics and geography aimed at developing all cognitive skills in pupils were created based on the own taxonomy of cognitive goals. These task sets were subsequently tested by the teachers in class and evaluated b the teachers themselves...
