Teaching-space paradigm
Bureš, Jan ; Müller, Rudolf (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
The project is dealing with building of a new Faculty of Architecture at BUT. The target area is located on one of the BUT campuses between Údolní, Úvoz and Tvrdého streets. The concept of the new Faculty of Architecture is based on a relationship between teachers and students. The specificity of the architectural studio education is historically referring to beaux art academies. The atelier is a community space where students learn from their "master", but above all from each other. The project addresses the relationship between student´s and teacher´s spaces, which meet in the central "factory" hall, connecting the two worlds.
Teaching-space paradigm
Vašička, Pavel ; Müller, Rudolf (referee) ; Rozwalka, Szymon (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to create a new Faculty of Architecture in close proximity to the Faculty of Fine Arts on the BUT campus. The aim was to achieve a dignified environment for teaching future architects. In the complex there is a building designed for the Faculty of Architecture. However, it does not have sufficient capacity to cover teaching needs. Therefore, both the existing building and the extension and their interconnection were solved within the project. The main goal of the project was to create an environment that reflects today. The architect in particular should have a more general overview. The premises are as open and shared as possible, so that the students themselves enrich each other as much as possible. Emphasis is placed on the open layout of the interior, into which the exterior blends in selected places, the floors are enriched with atriums and elevated floors, which allow greater social contact.
Architecture of the extreme
Nohejl, Jakub ; Müller, Rudolf (referee) ; Kaftan, Martin (advisor)
Inhospitable environment of mountain ridges was considered uninhabitable for a long time of human civilization. Adverse weather with extreme fluctuations and difficult accessibility discouraged many people interested in development of this location. However, there still were objects that tried to withstand the weather. One of the examples is the exposed chalet Chata na Rozcestí located on the ridge of the Krkonoše Mountains at an altitude of 1,349 m above sea level. The chalet has been constantly struggling with the inhospitable environment of almost 90 years. Its aim is to provide shelter and refreshments for tourists passing by. Over time, all existing buildings in this location suffered from the bad weather. Due to the high operation demands of the current building, the owner is very interested in rebuilding the chalet. The design of chalet Chata na Rozcestí brings a new perspective on the problematics of this locality. In response to the surrounding landscape of the Krkonoše National Park, the design works not only with weather conditions, but also in terms of sustainability and self-sufficiency.
Landscape transformed
Kažimír, Oliver ; Müller, Rudolf (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The landscape has been transforming during the time – by people and by itself. A human has adjusted the environment to his needs - material, physical and spiritual. The relation between a man and the landcape varies. A place of previous extractive quarry Bankov contains more layers that were overlapped by anthropogenic operations. The authentic land had its significant spiritual meaning inscribed into a pilgrimage route containing small sacral objects which connected people with the land and the place. An exploitation of the land transformed its values. Extraction caused a loss of previous prints in the landscape - not only a loss of its material matter, but especially its importance for people living in the area. The realtion between a man and the landscape has been lost. The land has gone through a radical transfomation of morfology - a fascinating and dynamic geological diversion that creates specific character of a place has been formed. It is an abandoned mysterious area invoking contradictory feelings of danger and calmness. Perception and experiencing the land is a motive of recovery… ...that refers to a man – an individual human being. The project understands a recovery as a sanitation and transformation of an organism – which a land recovering after exploatation definitely is. Time, space and living conditions are elements determinating natural recovery of the land. Those features has influenced the project which analogically takes an inspiration for a physical and mental recovery of a man. The regeneration is happening by exposing and reinterpretation of the lost values through which a man identifies himself with the place.
How will we grow up together?
Polanská, Andrea ; Müller, Rudolf (referee) ; Kratochvíl, Jan (advisor)
My diploma thesis is based on my pre-diploma project called “How will we live together?”. The project was a collaboration of the whole atelier (collective), the result of our work was theoretical concept and urbanistic arrangement. We have done research and defined these terms: reciprocity, globalization and sustainability. Afterwards, we have applied our research on our solved area of the former sugar refinery in Šlapanice. The aim of our concept was to break the borders between the young and the old generation and between the individuals and the families. The concept was questioning the conventional lifestyle. Therefore, our urbanistic design was miscellaneous and was also helping to connect people of different ages. In the end, we had three questions to answer: How will we live together? How will we work together? And finally, how we grow up together. The last one has become the subject of my diploma thesis. The aim of my thesis is to design the draft of a kindergarten conjoined with housing for seniors. The designed complex should encourage people to interact. It should be a place to spend time together, create an intergenerational social network, and make the communities more attractive. It is not just about connecting seniors and children, but also about creating a community. The project is also concerned about a sustainable future in harmony with nature, because it can solve many world problems.
