Biochemical aspect of investigation of the natural-origin binders and varnishes in the paint layer of old paintings

The subject of this work are choosen bioanalytical methods, used for the identification of organic binders and varnishes in coloured layer of ancient paintings. In the past, the plant and animal substances were used as a binders and varnishes. To those materials belong proteins, oils, polysacharide gums and resins. Succesful analysis in the history of using binders and varnishes demands a good knowledge of their chemical qualities and reactivity during the process of aging. Nowadays are prefered the methods and technics, which don?t destruct the sample and which are non-invasive towards the whole artwork. Recently, the imunofluorescence technics have been started to use as the alternative methods of classical and easier microchemical tests. The spectroscopic methods are widely used in material investigation of ancient artworks. The main is infrared spectometry (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopy. The methods of nuclear magnetic resonance are significant mainly for studying changes of connective and isolating material during the process of aging. To indentify mainly protein binders, the technic of mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) is widely used. Comparison of efficiency of bibliographic databases for biochemical problems

The study presents a comparison between four bibliographic databases widely used in biochemistry: paid SCOPUS and Web of Science and free-accessible MEDLINE and Google Scholar. Their efficacy and suitability for solving biochemical problems was evaluated. Three model problems were chosen and entered to databases: "ellipticine", "Lowry method" and "serine racemase". The located articles in each database were then sorted by their relevance. The best results were obtained with the SCOPUS database (highest proportion of relevant results; thus database has at the same time user-friendly interface). Very good was also free MEDLINE database and if paid databases are unavailable, MEDLINE would be the right option. The best results were found with a combination of both above named databases. Also database Web of Science gave good and relevant results but was not as useful as SCOPUS or MEDLINE. The worst results in this study was given by the database Google Scholar. It would be recommended for searches of basic, not so specific problems. This database locates many articles but with questionnable proportion of relevant articles - and these have to be found manually, which would be time-consuming. Thesis in Czech.

Commands and comments: tha language of "The nine chapters on the mathematical art" and its commentaries

Předmětem této práce je jazyk klasické čínské matematiky, konkrétně jejího stěžejního anonymního díla "Matematika v Devíti kapitolách" a dvou nejdůležitějších komentářů k němu. "Matematika v Devíti kapitolách" (Jiu zhang suan shu ft; UT) je sbírka vzorových úloh a metod jejich řešení z přelomu letopočtu. Ve 3. století n. 1. k ní napsal obsáhlý komentář Liu Hui ~U fit, na začátku dynastie Tang přibyly vysvětlivky Li Chunfenga *#ll a jeho spolupracovníků. Na tomto materiálu lze proto zkoumat nejen samotný matematický jazyk a jeho vývoj, ale také komentáře jako žánr, který má specifické stylové potřeby. Práce se skládá ze dvou výkladových částí: první je shrnutí historických informací o "Matematice v Devíti kapitolách" a jejích komentátorech, druhá analyzuje jazyk jednotlivých vrstev textu a snaží se odhalit hlavní rysy každé vrstvy a jejich rozdíly. Třetí část, zařazená jako příloha, je překlad výběru z "Matematiky v Devíti kapitolách" včetně Liu Huiova a Li Chunfengova komentáře, doplněný mými jazykově-matematickými poznámkami. Pro tištěnou verzi byl překlad silně zkrácen, celý pracovní překlad relevantních částí je obsažen na přiloženém CD-ROMu. The position of Australia in the world economy

The bachelor thesis examines the position of the Australian economy in the world. This target is accomplished by using selected macroeconomic indicators and by characterizing the international trade and foreign direct investments. The thesis is structured into three chapters. The first chapter describes changes in the Australian economy and compares the macroeconomic indicators with other countries. The second chapter specifies the international trade in goods and services and foreign direct investments. The international trade is divided into territorial and commodity structure and the foreign direct investments are specified by inflow and outflow. The last chapter focuses on bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements and mentions the Australian most important business partners.
