Animation of 2D gear meshing
Fiala, Vlastimil ; Klapka, Milan (referee) ; Hartl, Martin (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the animation of planar involute gearing. The thesis gives a theoretical basis for understanding the problems of gears. Introduction of the work is focused on the description of the geometry and mesh of uncorrected planar gears focusing on the line of action. Gradually meshing of gear pairs with external, internal and rack gearing is described. Following part describes mesh of planar wheel with manufacturing rack, thus creating teeth flanks by rolling. The next section describes the problems of interference with the root curve and its impact on the gear's teeth number. The last part deals with correction of teeth by shifting profile and its effect on meshing ratios.
Test the applicability of biogenic binders during casting of gray cast iron
Fiala, Vlastimil ; Neudert, Alois (referee) ; Cupák, Petr (advisor)
The thesis deals with verification of applicability of biogenic binders during casting of gray cast iron. Applicability of these binders for making moulds as well as cores was verificated. The introduction describes strength of cured mixture with biogenic binder including influence of additives and refractory coating. The main part describes process of manufacturing of castings being poured into the biogenic binder bonded moulds. Pouring castings with cores bonded with the same binder is described as well. The last part deals with assessment of the given tests. The thesis comprises photodocumentation of poured samples.
State transformation in postcolonial Mozambique

The case of "State Transformation in Postcolonial Mozambique" is set into the context of African postcolonial state research in the introductory part of the thesis. The concepts of africanists Mahmood Mamdani, Patrick Chabal and Jean François Bayart are presented and used as an conceptual framework for the analysis of the postcolonial state in Mozambique. The origin and development of the postcolonial state in Mozambique is analysed in the wider historical context. The pre-colonial political systems in Mozambique are presented, as well as the first contacts between the pre-colonial Mozambique and the Portuguese and the establishment of the Portuguese presence. Ideational framework of British foreign policy under New Labour.
Váška, Jan ; Pešek, Jiří (advisor) ; Říchová, Blanka (referee) ; Fiala, Vlastimil (referee)
This doctoral thesis explores the ideational framework of British foreign and European policy in the era of New Labour governments (1997-2010). Drawing from social constructivism and the "linguistic turn" in social sciences, and using discourse analysis as its primary tool, it analyses a set of major foreign and European policy speeches by prime ministers and foreign secretaries, and Labour Party general election manifestos, to reconstruct the ideational structure in which empirical British foreign policy was embedded. It identifies conceptual ideas about the nature and rules governing the international order, distribution of power in the international system, hierarchy of issues in contemporary international agenda, international identity and role of the United Kingdom, its key international relationships, its power resources, and interests and values shaping British foreign policy, as held by the leading government figures of the era. Established changes and transformations of these governing ideas are contextualised in the empirical development in the international arena. While confirming the pro-stability and self-reproduction bias of ideational structures, via their constitution of agency and organization of the actors' discursive practices, the thesis identifies six events which sparked...

Devolution and the Scotish national party
Kasáková, Zuzana ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Říchová, Blanka (referee) ; Fiala, Vlastimil (referee)
This thesis addresses the issue of devolution and its relation to the Scottish National Party (SNP) through the lenses of historical institutionalism. It aims at answering the question, how and to what extent the devolution influenced the policies and political behaviour of the SNP as well as its internal organization. The change of the SNP is also viewed on the basis of various political theories and typologies of political parties. Because the primary aim of the SNP is to deliver independence to Scotland, the special attention is also paid to the mutual relation of devolution as a weaker form of self-determination and independence. It is possible to define three waves of the impact of devolution on the SNP. The last one leads to the establishment of Scottish autonomous institutions. Althoutgh the Labour Party tried to minimized the SNP in the political arena, the SNP took a full advantage of a new institutional setting and managed to form a Scottish government. Keywords New Labour, Labour Party, devolution, Scottish National Party, decentralization, Scotland
The Europeization of the Czech-French relationship (1989-2009)
Brüstlová, Markéta ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Fiala, Vlastimil (referee) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The dissertation deals with the evolution of Czech-French relations after 1989 in the context of European integration. The first part sets the historical background in which the relations between the two countries are embedded and focuses on their renewal in the aftermath of the fall of the Iron Curtain. The second part deals with their development before and after the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union and stresses the growing conflicting standpoints, interests and approaches to various European and foreign policy issues. Through the analysis of foreign policy discourse, the thesis shows how the bilateral and European levels influence and penetrate each other. It stresses furthermore that although bilateral relations remain an important part of the foreign policy, with Europeanization they became structurally weaker. The dissertation shows that Francophilia does not assume any major function and remains only on a symbolic level. The development of Czech French discourse also tells us not only about the view of one country with regard to the other but also about the geostrategic vision of both countries in Europe.

Brazilian Left at the beginning of the 21st Century. From Political Alternative to Cartel of Power?
Němec, Jan ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Opatrný, Josef (referee) ; Kouba, Karel (referee) ; Fiala, Vlastimil (referee)
The thesis deals with the transformation of the Brazilian Workers' Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT). Its aim is to identify reasons for more than a decade interval between the renewal of direct presidential election under the universal suffrage and the victory of the left in a society that is marked by extreme inequality of wealth distribution. The second issue which is covered is how the party managed to consolidate power and keep it for three consecutive terms. Using modified concepts of mass, catch-all and cartel party the author tests the hypothesis that the electoral victory of the left was conditioned by the domination of the leftist side of political spectrum by the PT, as a result of building a mass (program-oriented) party, which subsequently tailored its campaign to focus on centrist voters (shift to the catch-all format, or votes-oriented party). The maintenance of power is based on crafting oversized coalitions with parties across the political spectrum, i.e. including the right-wing parties. However, these coalitions are created only to support government; the Workers' Party never forms electoral coalitions with prominent rightest parties. Furthermore, the thesis discusses the functioning of the so-called coalitional presidentialism, the typologies of current leftist governments in Latin America and also presents the basic elements of the Brazilian political system.
