The Discussion about Expulsion of Sudeten Germans in Czech Society
Čížek, Tomáš ; Šmídová, Olga (advisor) ; Hájek, Martin (referee)
This thesis focuses on the controversy in Czech society over the displacement of Germans. The dispute is one of the most significant public debates related to the Czech past held since the fall of the communist regime. The work briefly summarizes the historical development of the controversy over the displacement and introduces the political context of the discussion held already in the democratic regime. The main part of the text consists of analysis of opinions on the issues of displacement in Czech newspapers in the period of one year directly before the Czech Republic entered the European Union Concerning methodology, the work is inspired by discourse analysis. However, the author is not that much focusing on the use of language, which is common within this methodological tradition, but rather on what is being expressed through the language, i. e. the contents of the discourse itself. In doing so, he refers to the work of the Czech-British anthropologist Ladislav Holý. The author concludes that two main approaches may be found within the debate over the displacement, and calls the first of them the "official" discourse and the other the "critical" discourse. Based on the analysis, it is not possible to speak of the two discourses as competing with each other in the form of notional oppositions,...
Implementation of the Sprouts game
Čížek, Tomáš ; Balko, Martin (advisor) ; Pangrác, Ondřej (referee)
Sprouts is a two-player pencil-and-paper game invented by John Conway and Michael Paterson in 1967. In the game, the players take turns in joining dots by curves according to simple rules, until one player cannot make a move. The Game of Sprouts is very popular and simple-looking, so it may come as a surprise that there are essentially no AI Sprouts players available. This lack of computer opponents is caused by the fact that the game hides a surprisingly high combinatorial complexity and implementing it involves fascinating programming challenges. We overcome all the implementation barriers and create the first user-friendly Sprouts application with a strong artificial intelligence after more than 50 years of the existence of the game. In particular, we combine results from the theory of nimbers with new methods based on Delaunay triangulations and crossing-preserving force-directed algorithms to develop an AI Sprouts player which plays a perfect game on up to 11 spots. 1

This diploma thesis deals with automatic soccer event detection . Its goal is to introduce reader to this issue , discuss possible ways of solution of this task and then implement event detection . This work aims at event recognition using spatio - temporal data of gaming objects . Introduced way of dealing with event detection lies in its converting to sequence labeling task . Then such task is solved using LSTM recurrent neural networks . Lastly , result of sequence labeling is interpreted as detected events . Library for event detection has been created as the output of this work . This library allow user to experiment with different variants how to formulate event detection as sequence labeling task .
