Financial crisis impacts on the chosen EU states
Radová, Jana ; Melcher, Ota (advisor) ; Čajka, Radek (referee)
Bachelor's thesis Financial crisis impacts on the chosen EU states analyses the impact of the financial crisis on two particular EU member states, Ireland and Portugal. Even though the root causes were different, both cases experienced similarly devastating effects that made them ask for international financial assistance. Thorough analysis of the anti-crisis governmental policies in the context of chosen macroeconomic indicators will then reveal the level of their effectiveness. Final comparative analysis of the key factors between the two countries will not only show the inadequacies in the economic behavior of these two states in the last decades and the current state of the economies, but will also enable to draw some conclusions on the future evolution of these economies as such.

HPLC method development for determination of active compounds in Arpalit preparation.
Švestková, Petra ; Šatínský, Dalibor (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Marie (referee)
A HPLC method was developed for the separation and determination of the substances fenoxycarb and permethrin. The method is based on using HS F5 column (10 x 4 mm, 3 μm particle) and UV detection at 225 nm. The compounds were separated using isocratic elution of the mobile phase acetonitril - water (65:35) at a flow-rate of 1,0 ml/min. There was temperature 70 řC during the measurement. The system enabled successful separation of both compounds in time less than 5 min. The retention time of fenoxycarb was 1,53 min and the retention time of permethrin was 3,68 min. The chromatographic resolution between both compounds was 11,012. The method was applied to analysis of the active substances fenoxycarb and permethrin in veterinary preparations Arpalit® Neo mechanical spray, Arpalit® Neo spray a Arpalit® Neo foam. Developed method was compared with the method available on Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University in Prague (HPLC, Chromolith Performance RP-18, 100 x 4,6 mm, gradient elution of mobil phase acetonitril + water/acetonitril (60:40), flow rate 1,0 ml/min, temperature 30 řC, analysis time 11 min). Keywords: fenoxycarb, permethrin, HPLC

Computer Adaptive Testing based on Item Response Theory as a Tool for Assessment of Students' Literacy Levels
Arnhold, Martin ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Chadima, Zdeněk (referee)
The paper deals with the current perspective of computer aided assessment of students, particularly with computer adaptive testing based on Item Response Theory. Although this testing method has become a world standard, in the Czech Republic it is still, unfortunately, rarely used. The aim of this paper is to describe the current state of the testing techniques used and to create a functional dll library, which will provide basic functionality needed for successful launching of a Web interface for computer adaptive testing of students. In addition, the library should serve as a support to authors in developing tests based on Item Response Theory. The first part provides a basic description of educational assessment methods currently used, and gives an insight into the matters of creating professional testing tools. Other chapters depict the operation of Classical Test Theory, which is now used as a cornerstone of the test development, and further it presents Item Response Theory, as a possible successor to the Classical theory. Both theories described are compared at the end. The second part of the paper is then divided into a theoretical part, which describes the possibility of computer adaptive testing, gives and overview of its origins and development, presents essential forms, and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of this testing method. The practical part contains illustrative examples and descriptions of the methods enabled by the presented dll library.

Control of lateral root development in response to availability of principal mineral nutrients.
Halamková, Daniela ; Tylová, Edita (advisor) ; Smetana, Ondřej (referee)
Lateral roots are, due to their large absorption surface, a part of the root system with significant importance for the plant's ingestion of water and nutrients. Their development depends on heterogeneity of soil environment, which enables the plant to optimize the acquisition of resources under current conditions. The availability of mineral nutrients (type of nutrient, form, distribution in soil and mobility) is one of key factors that determine root system morphogenesis. Another important aspect is the amount of nutrient in the plant; in other words, the plant's current demand for the element. The most important nutrients that influence the architecture of the root system are two macroelements - nitrogen and phosphorus. Both of these elements trigger positive and negative effects on the development of lateral roots. Nitrate, important source of nitrogen, induces two entirely different regulatory mechanisms of lateral root development. Under nitrogen limiting condition, a local stimulation of lateral root elongation is triggered in nitrate-rich patches. This response integrates the signalling pathways of auxin and nitrate. In contrast, high and homogenous availability of nitrate in rhizosphere (≥ 10 mM) causes inhibition of lateral root growth. This systemic inhibitory effect was similarly...

Marketing activities of Czech cinemas and multiplexes focused on the cinema Světozor
Masná, Zuzana ; Novotný, David Jan (referee) ; Šobr, Michal (advisor)
The bachelor thesis "Marketing activities of Czech cinemas and multiplexes focused on the cinema Svetozor" describes different methods of marketing applied by both these types of cinemas. The thesis primarily focuses on the alternative cinemas. The different types of cinemas imply that also the character of their marketing activitites will differ. By marketing activities the author means mainly promotion activities of Czech classical cinemas; these are explicated for both Svetozor cinema and other art cinemas. As for multicinemas, this work concentrates on different types of cinema advertising which different multicinemas enable to various companies. There are marketing strategies based on a SWOT analysis proposed for both types of the cinemas and multicinemas and for Svetozor in particular. This work suggests that to be able to stand up to relatively new competition of multicinemas, the classical cinemas need to change their marketing strategies. Focus should be given to the importance of brand and establishing own corporate identity. These questions will also be analysed for the marketing communication of Svetozor cinema in years 2004 - 2009. In this work an analysis on the basis of description and marketing strategies evaluation of specific cinemas is used as the main method. The work is based on...

Optimization of Algae Population Growth Using Markov Chains and
Zouharová, Martina ; Kalčevová, Jana (advisor) ; Černý, Michal (referee)
The thesis deals with the task of refining the constructional and operational parameters of a tubular photobioreactor in order to maximise the growth rate of algae contained in the cultivation suspension. It builds on a basic growth model of the Porhydrium sp. alga, and focuses on the optimization of external irradiance, which is one of the key determinants of algae growth. Two distinct methodological approaches are applied: analytic approach, which employs Markov Chains, and simulation approach, which relies on agent-based simulations. In the analytic part, we introduce the construction of state transition matrix for a Markov Chain that accounts for varying irradiance inside the photobioreactor (in contrast to constant-irradiance methods that have been published so far). In the simulation part, we devised an agent-based model of algae population that enables us to analyze the system behaviour while interactively changing the model parameters. In the context of the results from both the analytic and simulation part, we conclude by suggesting the optimal level of external irradiance.

References to the Book of Leviticus in the Gospel of Matthew
Landovská, Eliška ; Mrázek, Jiří (advisor) ; Pokorný, Petr (referee)
This thesis called "References to the Book of Leviticus in the Gospel of Matthew", deals with a problem, which has not been adressed as such so far. In the Gospel of Matthew about twenty allusions to the Book of Leviticus can befound, as suggested in the critical edition of the New Testament, edited by Nestle-Alland. In Matthew, some of the allusions are owershadowed by quotations from the books of Exodus or Deuteronomy, which are far more frequently used. Other allusions are unique, as seen in the example of the story of the cleansed lepper. Allusions and echoes are dealt with, rather than direct quotations. In the introduction, the problem of the Old Testament quotations is introduced, followed by the first chapter describing telegraphically all the references to Leviticus in the Sermon on the mount. The author starts with the text from Leviticus, comparing Greek and Hebrew text. Exegesis of this scripture is followed by translation of the relevant scripture form Matthew, comparison of the text with other synoptics, exegesis and exposition of the relation between the two texts. The references to the book of Leviticus seem to enable us better understanding of some situations presented in the gospel. Majority of the allusions explain the cultural background. They explain to nowadays reader, whose...

Reliability of the SPECT examination in diagnosis of meniscal lesions of the knee joint
VYTOPILOVÁ, Helena
Menisci are located within the knee joint and therefore it is very difficult to diagnose the knee joint meniscus injuries. There are several examination methods, such as RTG, SONO and MRI to diagnose knee joint meniscus injuries. Attention is given to these examination techniques in a section of my thesis. The substantial part of my thesis is focused on the nuclear medicine {--} the ionizing radiation detection, imaging methods {--} but mainly on the non-invasive examination {--} bone scintigraphy and SPECT imaging. The SPECT method is a tomographic version of a common method of planar scintigraphy. The SPECT examination follows the three-phase scintigraphy which is a combination of a static and dynamic scintigraphy. Aother part of my thesis refers to the largely used invasive method, arthroscopy. Arthroscopy is an endoscopic technique enabling visual diagnostics from minimal distance and surgical procedures. The closing part of my thesis brings the comparison of results obtained in patients examined both by the SPECT method and by arthroscopy. The objective of my thesis is to publish the role of the SPECT method in knee joint meniscus injury diagnostics.

Conversion of formatting objects to ODF
Bodnár, Petr ; Kosek, Jiří (advisor) ; Pajas, Petr (referee)
This thesis deals with conversion of text documents from the format of so called formatting objects (XSL FO) to OpenDocument format (ODF). This conversion can be useful e. g. for distribution, printing or additional modification of a document in a text editor which supports ODF (e. g. OpenOffice). The thesis starts with description of both formats and it mentions basic elements that the formats offer for defining a text document. A comparison of both formats and description of possibilities of converting documents from XSL FO to ODF follows right after. The proved-by-practise and widely available XSLT transformation is chosen for the conversion implementation. It is illustrated on a sample application which enables to launch the conversion from an internet browser, from OpenOffice or from a command line.
