Vaclav Klaus and "nature"

Thesis is based on the views of authors of sociology of knowledge (Berger, Luckman, Bourdieu) and authors of discourse analysis (Foucault, Fairclough). The central assumption is that knowledge is socially constructed and that this construction has its strong ideological and hierarchic aspects. Author is analyzing books and texts of Vaclav Klaus using the critical discourse analysis. Author is convinced that Vaclav Klaus has a substantive influence on public opinion in Czech Republic. Also author is convinced the struggle in the discussion over environmental topics is based in different basic assupmtions of discussion participant. Thus author decided to analyse the Vaclav Klaus's basic assumptions for the notions of nature and environment.

Gold in culture

Thesis titled Gold in Culture deals with the phenomenon of gold as a part of the human cul ture. It shows the role of gold in the human cultural history. Based on the basic syllabus, that the phenomenon of gold must be explored in two peculiar levels, material and symbolical, the thesis has been composed to interpret gold especially in context with human history, the history of the corporeal culture and the human imagination. Preamble chapter defines gold and its elementary physical and chemical characteristics, due to which this metal gained its irreplaceable position in the human culture. Next extensive chapter describes the evolvement of the relationship between gold and men, gold mining and gold processing in various historical period s, but also deals with its influence on shaping history of humankind, followed by chapter in which the symbolic and materiallevel of gold organically pervade. Further chapters analyze symbolic approach to gold in mythology, fairy-tales, legend s and Christianity. Last chapter is devoted to the reversed symbolism of gold in the Thomas More utopia. Thesis therefore summarizes the existing knowledge by every means related to the theme of gold into the convincing culturally historical study, in a way that exceeds the limits of the various fields of historical science towards...

The individual and family strategies of the rural population

This master´s thesis concern about personal and family strategies of rural population in the second part of 19. century. The following strategies are especially affiliated with choosing children´s name, select of godfathers, partners choices, labour migration and reservatum rusticum. The origin for rechearch of this theme is possible divide in two big parts. The first generate literary works of the realist art movement 19. century (novel and short stories from Jindřich Šimon Baar, Karel Klostermann, Teréza Nováková, Karel Václav Rais, Gabriela Preissová and others) and trivial literature the same period (novel and short stories from V. Čuta, Josef Jahoda, Vlasta Javořická, Vlasta Pittnerová, Marie E. Vokáčová, Bohumil Zahradník-Brodský and others). The second part is consist of origin evidential (birth, marriage and death records, census) and insurance charakter. It was choosed a territory of Besednice for a concrete comparation.

Body modification in cyberpunk literature

The diploma thesis Body Modifications in Cyberpunk Literature deals with the representation and role of body modifications in selected works of cyberpunk literature. The issue analysis is carried out by means of combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The first part of the thesis covers both areas theoretically and provides essential insight into the issue. In addition, the author develops her own definition of body modification and provides its genesis. In the research part, the author first explores a body of selected literary cyberpunk works obtained through a pilot research, namely novels Neuromancer, Snow Crash, Schismatrix and Blade Runner and short stories collections Mirrorshades and Burning Chrome. Furthermore, the author quantitatively evaluates 503 mentions of body modifications in a given sample, using 25 variables. The qualitative analysis, structured in 7 thematic areas, amplifies the quantitative findings and among other things deals with the role of body modifications in the construction of cyberpunk literary texts and their overlapping with reality. Ilija Trojanow's Reception in Bulgaria

This thesis is aimed at Ilija Trojanow's reception in Bulgaria. Ilija Trojanow is Bulgarian born author who writes his works in German. The thesis researches his reception through book reviews published in newspapers in Bulgaria and for a constractive point of view in Germany. At first there is the work of Trojanow presented in the thesis, particular focus is put on the following three books: the novels Die Welt ist groß und Rettung lauer überall, Der Weltensammler and the literary travelogue Hundezeiten. Heimkehr in ein fremdes Land. Consequently, the Bulgarian and the German reviews are analysed. The reception of Ilija Trojanow in Bulgaria is based upon the analysis. Maecenases of Daniel Adam from Veleslavín

In my study I focus on the persons who are the recipients of the book-dedications which were written by Daniel Adam from Veleslavín. This printer and writer owned one of the most significant and productive book-printer in the 16th Century Bohemia. I had tried to research the life stories of this persons, political careers, privat interests, religion and other factors which could be the reasons for this book-dedications. Not at last I was interested whether this persons had any personal relationship with the printer or whether they lived in the same social environment. The stories of book-dedications are accompanied by the picture of contemporary social and cultural lifestyle with the special focus on the book culture.

The agrarian share sugar refinery Němčice nad Hanou (1910-1948)

The purpose of my paper was to outline the time of appearance and development of the sugar refinery industry in both central and northern Moravia and Silesia on the basis of the historical and current literature and utilisation of the archive funds of MZA in Bmo. The thesis covers a time period from the first half of 19th century till the year 1948 when the sugar refineries were nationalised. I have divided my paper into several chapters following the establishment of single sugar refineries in Moravia and Silesia. The first half of the paper is focused on the attempts of sugar production from the maple juice or the sugar beat. The sugar production expansion started by the foundation ofthe first sugar refinery in Kostelni Vydfi in the year 1829 and by the continuous sugar production development starting with the aristocratic establishments, the enterprises owned by the wealthy entrepreneurs and following up with the small fanner's stock sugar refineries, whose stockholders were the Czech fanners. The second part of this paper is dedicated to one of the most significant and most modem small farmer's sugar factories in Moravia, which was located in Nemcice nad Hanou. Re-education and Labor Camps in novels by Zhang Xianliang and Yan Lianke ABSTRACT: This paper is focused on two modern Chinese novels which are situated in a "re- educative" labor camp. Author analyzes novels Suffering is also Wisdom and Four Books and interprets these novels as a document created for the purpose of providing a truthful depiction of a specific historical era. In analysed novels can also be found apparent criticism of totalitarian regime, utopic communist ideology and pointing out issues related to the interpretation of modern Chinese history.
