New Trends in Work with Seniors in Home for the Elderly
MAREŠOVÁ, Helena
The thesis deals with the introduction of new trends to the work with seniors in residential facilities services. The status of elderly people has dramatically changed over the past hundred years due to the political and cultural changes in the society and there is a risk of social exclusion of this group of people because of their advanced age, loss of competence and capabilities. The theoretical part describes the changes in care for elderly people in past few centuries not only in the Czech Republic but also in other European countries and also those changes that occurred in recent years. The practical part determines how these changes are accepted by people in age group from 65 to 90 years living in a retirement home in a small village in the highlands, far away from their families, infrastructure, and the rush of life. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to assess the effectiveness of the new trends in working with seniors in this type of institution in relation to the improvement of the quality of their life.

Plzáková, Lucie ; Zlatohlávek, Martin (advisor) ; Otavský, Karel (referee)
The work describes history and development of Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs in Dresden in the years 1720 - 1780. Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs in Dresden was established in 1720 by Frederick Augustus I, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland (as Augustus II the Strong). The first director of Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs in Dresden Johann Heinrich Heucher bought a large Gottfried Wagner collection of drawings from Leipzig in 1728. Carl Heinrich Heinecken, the second director of Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, cooperated with the art connoisseur and art collector Pierr Mariette from France. Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs in Dresden was avaible for the public in the second half of the 18. century. At the end of this work there is supplemented brief catalog of selected Drawings of the Italian masters of the 15th century from Collection of Prints, Drawings and Photographs in Dresden. These Italian drawings were a part of collection in Dresden already also in the years 1720 - 1780. Drawings are descripted and characterized there. Keywords: Dresden, Frederick Augustus I., Collection, Drawing, Italian Master.

MDOCTM effect on expression of cell adhesion molecules / / in the vessel wall of ApoE / LDLR-deficient mice
Drnek, Ludvik ; Nachtigal, Petr (advisor) ; Štaud, František (referee)
Atherosclerosis belongs to the cardiovascular diseases, which have been the most frequent cause of the morbidity and mortality in all the economically advanced countries of Europe and the USA in the last few years. The purpose of this thesis was to find some potential hypolipidemic and antiinflammatory effects of MDOC. The new potential substance belongs to the group of dietary fibre. ApoE/LDLr-deficient mice (n=8) was used in the study. The mice were fed with aterogenic diet containing 1.25% cholesterol for 8 weeks. In MDOC group, the mice were fed on the same aterogenic diet, with 5% MDOC added to this diet. Blood sample for the biochemical investigation were taken from animals. Then, partitions of the tissue formed by the aorta together with the upper part of the heart were taken, too. Then, a biochemical analysis of the blood was made and also in aortic sinus and arch an imunohistochemical and stereological analysis of the endothelial expression of VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 were performed. The results of the biochemical analysis showed that MDOC treatment resulted in a significant decrease of total cholesterol, VLDL and significant increase of HDL cholesterol. Stereological analysis of immunohistochemical staining showed significant decrease of VCAM-1 staining in the atherosclerotic lesion after the...

Molecular and Biochemical Features of Threee Enzymes that May Serve as New Drug Targets in Cryptosporidium Parvum
Čtrnáctá, Vlasta ; Staňková, Marie (advisor) ; Kraml, Jiří (referee) ; Nečas, Emanuel (referee)
Molecular and biochemical features of three enzymes that may serve as new drug targets in Cryptosporidium parvum Cryptosporidium parvum is a unicellular, obligatory and intracellular parasite belonging to the Phylum Apicomplexa. This parasite can infect both humans and animals, causing an acute diarrhea in immunocompetent persons, and a chronic life threatening infection in immunocompromised individuals. Although many drugs, to combat this parasite, have been empirically tested, there is no completely effective therapy to treat cryptosporidiosis in humans or animals. In recent years, the completion of the genome sequencing projects in C. parvum and C. hominis along with advances in molecular methods have significantly helped to increase our general understanding of the C. parvum metabolic machinery. However, our knowledge concerning many specific pathways and enzymes in Cryptosporidium is still limited. Their better understanding in this organism would aid in experimentation of new drugs and new strategy development to treat cryptosporidiosis in humans and animals. In this dissertation, three essential metabolic enzymes of C. parvum have been tested: Pyruvate:NADP + oxidoreductase (PNO) is a unique, core metabolic enzyme, responsible for converting pyruvate to acetyl-CoA. It is a rare fusion of an...

Top-k querying over a relational databases: analysis and problems
Čech, Martin ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Eckhardt, Alan (referee)
Due to increasing capacity of storage devices and speed of computer networks during last years, it is still more required to sort and search data effectively. Query result containing thousands of rows is usually useless and unreadable. In that situation, users may prefer to define constraints and sorting priorities in the query, and see only several top rows from the result. This thesis deals with top-k queries problems, extension of relational algebra by new operators and their implementation in database system. It focuses on optimization of operations join and sort. The thesis includes implementation and comparison of some algorithms in standalone .NET library NRank.

Between Kharkov and Moscow. Weekly magazine "Románové noviny" within the efforts to promote proletarian literature in the beginning of the 1930s
