The Use of Regional History of Vltavotynsko in History Lessons. Workbook with Regional Historical Topics

The diploma thesis The Use of Regional History of Vltavotynsko in History Lessons. Workbook with Regional Historical Topics is a contribution to the methodology of history lessons. It defends the importance of regional and environmental education as well as education for relationship to cultural-historical heritage in lessons of history, especially at upper primary schools. The mentioned aspects of history education are observed in particular chosen educational documents, which determined the form of education in the 1990s and then also the final product of this reform - the Framework Educational Programmefor primary education. The main output of the thesis is a textbook about the regional history of Vltavotynsko called People from the River, which reflects the learned knowledge. The textbook does not only contain exercises typical for a workbook, but it also includes other texts and visual materials which present the basic historical development in the micro-region to pupils in an attractive way and they are a valuable contribution to pupil's environmental education, too.

A lesson of higher education funding : England - place to learn?

The object of this thesis is to evaluate whether it is desirable to implement the new English system of higher education funding in the Czech Republic. The English system based on income contingent loans is the youngest system of higher education funding. Chapters two and three put forward criteria sets to determine suitability of education system. The first set of criteria reflects the unique role of human capital, its levels and quality necessary for sustainable economic growth. Second set of criteria includes requirements for the system to be economically efficient. It is further shown that the current Czech system does not fulfil almost any of the criteria in their entirety, indicating a clear need for reform. Upon its confrontation with the two criteria sets on the other hand, the English system is tested as a candidate to be considered in the Czech reform. Also other countries' experience with income contingent loans is provided in order to find out the options to fulfil all the criteria for case an English system fails to do so. Although it is shown that the income contingent mechanism meets both criteria sets it is concluded that the English system includes a number of weaknesses. For example, it suffers from low adaptability to labour market needs, suboptimal quality of education or inefficient...

The teaching of Spanish language and the partial issues of Frame educational programme for basic education

Comprehensive immigration reform suspended: Lessons from the U.S. Senate 2004-2010

The M.A. thesis "Comprehensive Immigration Reform Postponed: Lessons from the Senate 2004- 2010" elaborates upon the causes hindering in the years 2004 to 2010 the adoption of a comprehensive immigration reform in the United States of America. The main goal of the thesis is to assess the consequences of the polarization of the American political scene on the immigration reform and to evaluate the party divide on the matter upon the floor remarks made by the members of Senate Committee on the Judiciary taking in account the differences in between the 109th and 111th Senate. The focus on the Committee on the Judiciary is justified by the role played by its members in the drafting process of particular reform proposals. The scope of the polarization of the Committee is assessed upon the aggravated means attributed to the most dominant narratives used by the senators. The remarks used in the evaluation are addressed in the context of the most significant contemporary factors influencing the polarization of American political scene as well as under the light of the development surpassing the domestic affairs.

Orff's Instruments Used at Contemporary Pre-school Music Lessons

Target of this thesis is to realize an one-month musical project at one of kindergarten classes while using Orf's musical instruments. Further to find out through a musical test prospective individual contribution of Orf's musical instruments involvement to a musical development of preschool children. Theoretical part of thesis describes a pedagogical reform at musical education, current status of musical education at kindergardens based on a General Education Programm (RVP). Further refers to a psychological aspect of musical development of preschool children, describes Orf's musical instruments itself and its usage at "itegrative pedagogy". Practical part of thesis is dedicated to a survey. It discovers how often, which way and which musical instruments are used at kindergardens. The musical project is performed at one of kindergarten classes via musical test. Musical abbilities and skills of children are investigated and contribution of Orf's musical instruments is verified and evaluated.

Reforms of the writing alphabet for the youngest. Is it Time for a Change?

The theme of the diploma dissertation became a view of a field of alphabets (letters and types) in contexts of communication, history, art and education. The theoretical part is focused on historical, contemporary movements of the phenomenon all at once. Inclusive of reflecting on alphabets in art and also links to a medial communication. The second part of the diploma dissertation reacts to the strongest and the most inspiring moments. It focuses on a practical applications for art lessons. The third part [artistic] takes advantage of media knowledges and art lessons. They are interfaced into an interactive teaching material which challenges students to an active perception of visual culture.


The Development of Reading in Primary School

The diploma work presented here deals with development of reading practice on the first stage of elementary school in conditions of the contemporary reform of our school system. The work focuses on questions of reading practice, abilities and skills connected with it, its importance and its relation to pupil's key competences. It concerns methods by means of which reading practice can be developed, particularly the approaches of Drama Education and Pleading and Writing for Critical Thinking programme. The centre (basis) of the work is the practical part worked out as action research. Selected aspects of pension reform in the context of economic and political situation in the Czech Republic

Bachelor thesis is focused on topic of pension reform in the Czech Republic. The substantial change in demographic structure and fiscal unsustainability of current (pay as you go) system emphasise unavoidability of pension reform. Experiences from reformes of pension systems in several countries give many comparisons and lessons learned for designing of czech pension reform. Study classifies options in pension reforms financing, describes status of current pension system including its historical developement and presents key elements of proposed reform. Study continues to present risks and benefits of implementation of second pillar (fully funded) and what requirements it means for fiscal sustainability of current (PAYG) system. Study shows that diversification of financing sources is a necessary step in order to maintain long term sustainability of pension system. Experience with implementation of reformed pension schemes in other countries and studies and recommendations local expert teams enable to asses governmental reform plan by comparing with their conclusions and recommendations. Study deals with selected aspects of pension reforms, especially related to the implementation of second pillar, its costs and benefits, institutional base as well as ways of financing of gap in first pillar (PAYG) caused by outflow to the second one. Study finishes by formulating fundamental barriers of the succesfull implementation of proposed pension reform.
