Long-term monitoring of mechanical damage on historical structures
Zíma, Pavel
Important information for the risk assessment of some damages on the historical structures represents data of failure development. Cracks in the load-bearing walls are one of the observed failures. This article focuses on remarkable method of damage measurement, their long-term monitoring and devices used for measurement

Tackling long-term unemployment in the Slovak Republic
Farkaš, Matej ; Pavelka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Adámek, Petr (referee)
I chose the topic of my thesis based on successfully piloted project to tackle long-term unemployment in Banska Bystrica, my hometown. The work is divided into two load-bearing parts - theoretical and practical. Theoretical part is focused on general definitions that relate to the issue of unemployment, types of unemployment and labor market and its link to employment policy. In theoretical part I have already mentioned a tool for placing long-term unemployed into the labor market on a theoretical level. In the practical part I have summarized information on project "From benefits to paid work", what was pilot project, tested for intermediate labor market as a potential tool for solving long-term unemployment in Banská Bystrica, Slovak Republic. Also you can find the list of figures, tables, graphs and references of how successful this project was in the end of my thesis.

The effects of extreme physical and mental stress on the human body
Braumová, Lucie ; Bartůňková, Staša (advisor) ; Majorová, Simona (referee)
Title: The effects of extreme physical and mental stress on the human body Goals: The main goal of this work was to evaluate the effect of physical stress load in a five-kilometer-long race in cross-country skiing on physical and mental functions of high school students. Methods: The investigated group consisted of 10 boys of the average age of 16 years. To evaluate their level of physical fitness and circulatory responses during cross-country stress, the maximal treadmill stress test was used. Circulatory response before, during, and after the race was monitored by a Sport-tester. To evaluate the mental background and the actual condition under the stress load, standardized questionnaires on ability to cross-country skiing, stress management strategy, degree of physical discomfort and current mental state were used. Results: The reference file tested by a stress test up to the maximum proved an above-average aerobic fitness. The extreme stress situation was a five-kilometer-long race in cross-country skiing. The results were processed and evaluated with a statistical and factual relevance. A number of correlations were made. The average SF values, which were achieved during the race, were getting near the maximum values (96% of SF max.). Even the evaluation by a Borg RPE scale attested to the...

Fibre reinforced mixtures for restoration and safeguaerding of monuments
Drdácký, Miloš ; Michoinová, D. ; Procházka, P.
Scientific recommendations for receipt and technology procedures of preparation of mixtures with required remedy characteristics, namely with a higher resistance against occurrence of macro cracks and propagation of micro cracks. Based on mathematical modelling of composite materials with inorganic (brittle) matrix and natural as well as man made polymeric fibres, an optimum cross section shape of the fibre has been determined. Characteristics of samples made from resulting mixtures have been experimentally tested from the point of view of mechanical behaviour including fracture characteristics and long term stability at cyclic changes of environment and climatic loading. The natural fibrous materials involved horse and goat hair, saw dust and husk, the man made polypropylene fibres.

Influence of targeted grassing in part of the waterdhed on nitrate concentrations trend in drainage and subsurface waters
Zajíček, Antonín ; Štibinger, Jakub (advisor) ; Vymazal, Jan (referee)
Water quality in small agricultural slopy catchments in Bohemian - Moravian highlands is often threatened by high nitrate concentration and nitrogen loads from diffusive agricultural sources. The main goal of this thesis was to get a practical evidence for findings obtained in the Czech Republic and abroad by statistical approaches concerning the profoundly mitigative effects that grassing certain catchment areas has on the nitrate burden in drainage and surface waters. The research was conducted mainly in the Dehtáře experimental catchment, where part of the recharge area with an area of 4.6 ha, has been grassed since the hydrological year 2007. Together with long-term monitoring of nitrate leaching in subcatchments with different land use in recharge and discharge are, drainage runoff generation and composition were surveyed in order to find knowledge about the recharge area placement and its importance for drainage water quality. The possibility of using the continuous measurement of water temperature for drainage runoff separation was also tested. The results presented show that nitrate concentration values in drainage water were influenced the most by the land use of the recharge zones within the drainage subcatchment. While permanent grassland placed directly in the drained area (corresponding to the catchment discharge zone) did not show any influence, the grassing focused on the catchment recharge area demonstrated a significant decrease in both, NO3 concentrations and N loads. Approximately one year after grassing, the long-term course of nitrates concentrations changed direction and became decreasing in sites with completely or partly grassed recharge zone, while in sites without land use change), the nitrate concentrations trend remains increasing or the stagnation was found. Decreases by 32% was detected in systematic drainage subsystem, which recharge area was completely grassed. The nitrate-nitrogen leaching decreased after grassing in recharge area of the drainage system by 23%. These findings can be generalised for slopy agricultural catchments with common land use in soil environments formed on crystalline rocks. The acquired findings are of high importance for improving the water quality of small streams as well as groundwater in agriculturally exploited areas, for planning protective zones within large catchments of potable water reservoirs, and also for protecting small local surface or groundwater sources of potable water.

Influence of Reconstruction of the Long-lasting Elements on the Price of Real Estate
Tomiczková, Monika ; Walachová, Michaela (referee) ; Krejza, Zdeněk (advisor)
My thesis deals with the influence of reconstruction of the long-lasting elements on the market price of the property, specifically on the family house. For a case study, I chose reconstruction of the roof, and its load-bearing part, because the reconstruction of this long-lasting element can be found in most cases. A case study is solved in the form of valuation of house before and after reconstruction, and it is done by two methods: according to the decree,by the comparison method and market valuation and also comparative method.

Rheological characteristics of untreated and thermally modified wood under long-term loading in bending
Berková, Tereza ; Borůvka, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Ruman, Daniel (referee)
Heat-treatment belongs to the most ecological methods of wood preservation methods and increase of its natural stability in exposition to outdoor conditions. Research of mechanical properties opens new possibilities of thermowood usage in general. Wood appertains to viscoelastic materials and due to long-term loading creeps. There currently rise both elastic deformation, deformation elastic in time and plastic deformation. Partially there are irreversible changes due to stress even after unloading. This work presents first insight to the matters of thermowood rheology and inspects its behavior under long-term loading in bending. This paper compares ratio of these three types of deformation in untreated wood and thermally modified wood in seven different temperatures (140; 160; 180; 190; 200, 210°C). The samples were exposed to 600 hours applied loading covering 40% of ultimate stress (modulus of rapture). Test were performed under constant conditions in special creep units in conditioning kiln. Increasing deformation under constant load was analyzed by Burger rheological model. The results show that samples treated under lower temperatures (140 and 160°C) exhibit greater creep than untreated wood. This result is positive for structural usage of wood. On the other hand the samples treated under higher temperatures levels (200 an 210°C) display deterioration of mechanical properties. This is due to changes in wood structures caused by heat-treatment. The most important impact of this work goes to future research of this field. Next development has to apply for the best quality of samples and also select rather prismatic parallelism than transversal one. Also application of 40% ultimate stress loading appeared as too high and together with wood defects led to destruction of samples.
