Handling with injured birds in rescue centres
HROMÁDKO, David
Birds are the most frequent patients in rescue stations. Vehicular traffic, glass - fronted areas, power lines and also illegal hunting they all endanger birds in modern countryside. Thanks to rescue stations lots of birds injured in this way or ill ones are cured up and returned back to the wild. Thus rescue stations have a very important role in nature reservation as well as in ecological education. Presented work evaluates extent, means and success rate of handling and treatment of injured birds in rescue stations. The data concerning handling, treatment and aftereffects of the accidents of some injured and handicapped birds were found out in the following rescue stations: Záchranná stanice Třeboň při Českém nadačním fondu pro vydru (Rescue Station Třeboň under Czech Charitable Fund for the Otter), Stanice ochrany fauny Pavlov, o.p.s (Station for Fauna Protection in Pavlov, Social Enterpreneurship), Záchranná stanice pro zraněné živočichy na Huslíku u Poděbrad (Rescue Station for Injured Animals in Huslík near Podebrady) and Záchranná stanice pro živočichy ČSOP Vlašim (Rescue Station for Animals of the Czech Federation of Nature Protectors Vlašim). The numerical trend of the most common types of injuries was also carried out and in this case records of the rescue stations from 2008 2014 were used as the base. Each of the rescue stations has its own ways of treatment and handling the injured birds which sometimes differ from the ones in other stations. Some stations do not have any experience with some kinds of injuiries. The worst therapy is to cure poisoned birds and those burnt by electric current and poisoning. The most common cause of the receipt of birds in the mentoined stations was the hospital admission of non- independent young animals.
The Influence of Modern Passive Safety Features in the Protection of a Vehicle's Occupants
Vostrejž, Jan ; Tylšar, Vladimír (referee) ; Semela, Marek (advisor)
Thesis in the field of passive safety problems, traffic accidents and health outcomes of participants in road traffic accidents is aimed, inter alia, to create an overview of modern passive safety elements especially cars. The work deals with elements of the passive safety system and the impact on the crew vehicle. It describes the principle of operation, especially airbags, safety belts, belt pretensioner and it includes solution of limiters tensioning force in the safety belt and other elements that have the task of reducing the consequences of a traffic accident. The use of modern elements of passive safety provides increased protection for the crew and eliminates the formation injuries crew. The technical issue is therefore closely related to the healthcare industry and in particular the Court of medicine in the field of personal injury in relation to the types and characters of incidents, or by applying of the safety elements. There are also shown the actual road accidents in which were killed or injured members of crew with an analysis of the mechanism of injury with the use or non-use of safety elements.
Caring for the injured and otherwise handicapped Raptors (Falconiformes) and owls (Strigiformes) in rescue centers
SLAVÍKOVÁ, Kristýna
At least half of our raptors and owls are classified into three categories the list of specially protected animals. Electricity poles, traffic and landscape changes have led to the disappearance many individuals of raptors and owls in the wild. This work evaluates range and success of the return raptors and owls into the wild. All information about adopted raptors and owls were compiled by selected rescue station for animals ČSOP Vlašim. Rescue station records served as basis in the range of years 2009 - 2013. Most of Falconiformes were admitted individuals of Buteo buteo and Falco tinnunculus. Most common causes of admit into the rescue station were injuries by transport facilities or burns due to electric current. From Strigiformes were most admitted individuals Asio otus and Strix aluco. The most frequently been admitted youngs fell out of the nest . The total number of predators during the reported period were release back into the wild less than half of the accepted ones. The total number of admitted owls were release into the wild only a quarter of individuals.
Do Hospitals Attract Injuries?
Matějček, Štěpán ; Houdek, Petr (advisor) ; Chytil, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis investigates the influence of distance of healthcare facilities on risk behavior of inhabitants and subsequent injury occurrences. Simultaneously, it is focused on the role of affect in decision-making process and risk prediction. An increased number of injuries occurred near hospitals indicates the existence of offsetting behavior expressed by an increased rate of hazardous activities in the area in question and offsetting behavior is caused by a feeling of easily accessible healthcare. Data gathered via questionnaire survey uncovered an increased number of injuries in the areas closest to a hospital and also an increased rate of sports activities which itself as the most risky activity because the number of injuries occurred during sports amount to more than a half of all surveyed injuries. People living near a hospital also experience higher risk of an injury occurrence. This fact supports assumptive existence of offsetting behavior. A feeling of safety based on an accessible healthcare decreases predicted costs of risk activities and these costs can have a form of an injury. There are other factors discussed in the thesis that may affect against the hypothesis of existence of offsetting behavior, which can be adopted by people living close to a hospital. For example, we could observe less risky behavior of people living near a hospital due to the impact of availability heuristic, which makes the consequences of injuries more easily imaginable.

The work is, inter alia, specifies the methods of analysis of liability, which was developed to study the influence of alcohol and other drugs on driving ability. The aim was to determine the level of the negative impact of alcohol on the ability to participate in traffic. The second objective was to determine the social consequences of accidents caused under the influence of alcohol for parties to these accidents.
Health and social consequences of traffic accidents
AMBRŮŽEK, Tomáš
The objective of the thesis is to collect and analyze a set of persons injured in road traffic accidents in 2009 in České Budějovice district and to describe the health and social consequences of accidents, in particular extents of injuries, paid sick days, the time of treatment and permanent accidental disability. Based on the objective the following hypothesis was stated: "Traffic accidents have serious health and social consequences". The research was conducted by using the secondary data analysis method with the use of medial records of the traumatology department patients of České Budějovice Hospital, Inc. A part of the research was a questionnaire containing questions, aiming at the confirmation or rejection of the stated hypothesis, on the basis of which it was possible to categorize persons injured in traffic accidents, to determine whether the injuries have left a permanent accidental disability, and if so, which, and whether the injured person has received a disability pension. The examined set included 52 patients hospitalized at the traumatology department of České Budějovice Hospital, Inc. with injuries sustained in traffic accidents, who filled in the questionnaires, form the original number of hundred patients with the longest period of hospitalization and therefore the heaviest anticipated consequences, who were sent the questionnaires. The following numbers and percentages mentioned are always related to individual age categories. In the age category under 20 years of age 1 men, i.e. 4% of men, and 2 women, i.e.15% of women got a permanent disability, in the category 21-35 years of age 12 men, i.e. 43% of men and 6 women, i.e. 46% of women got a permanent disability, in the category 36-50 years of age only 7 men, i.e. 25% of men and no woman got a permanent disability, in the category over 50 years of age 8 men, i.e. 29% of men and 5 women, i.e. 38% of women got a permanent disability. Based on the findings, it may be stated that the hypothesis: "Traffic accidents have serious health and social consequences? was confirmed.
Analysis of the machinery as a component of the accident system in the area of traffic operations of self-propelled motor vehicles
SLUKA, Jiří
The theme of this student thesis is {\clq}qAnalysis of the machinery as a component of the accident system in the area of traffic operations of self-propelled motor vehicles``. It deals with problems of traffic and main causes of deaths and injuries in road accidents, and proposes a possibility of their elimination. The solution is based on the fact that most of the road accidents are caused by drivers themselves who don´t pay enough attention by driving or their behaviour behind the wheel isn´t sufficient. The proposed solution is supposed to monitor the traffic in real time and in co-operation with specially-designed program installed in the electronic control unit of the vehicle it´s able to notify the driver of dangers around him. The system is also able to dynamically control the traffic in order to prevent traffic-jams, accidents on pedestrian crossings, etc. As a result of system implementation the author estimates rapid decrease in fatal road accidents, serious injuries and physical damages.
Accident frequency and its social effects
VLÁSEK, Vladislav
The thesis ``Accident frequency and its social effects{\crqq} focuses on traffic accidents caused by trespassing the law of speed limit and on social effects induced by accident frequency. Every year approximately one thousand people die on the Czech roads, other thousands of traffic accident victims face lifelong injury consequences. Apart from direct loss of lives, health and property, the traffic accidents carry a lot of other hardly denumerable costs starting at financing trip of ambulance, continuing with health care service expenses followed by convalescence, eventually social benefits for disabled and impacts on relatives of traffic accident victims. The aim of this work is to map the situation of serious traffic accidents where participants are seriously injured, or die and to infer the most serious social effects of these traffic accidents. To gather information in order to meet the objective of this hypothesis and to prove it a quantity research has been carried out. Secondary analysis of data from the records of Police of Czech Republic and the Ministry of the Interior has been chosen as a method to help verify the correctness of presumed hypothesis. In order to map the most serious social impacts, dialogs with randomly selected traffic accident participants who suffered lifelong consequences of their injuries were performed. The primary file contains participants of traffic accidents that happened in the Czech Republic and are registered in the registry of Police of Czech Republic in the period 2003-2006 and where the participants died, were seriously or lightly injured. Our hypothesis proven, that the most serious consequences of traffic accidents happen due to exceeding the speed limits . Also the most serious social impacts of traffic accidents were mapped.
