Database of Czechoslovakian Television Broadcasting

This thesis describes the process of creating a Czechoslovak Television broadcasting database using optical character recognition technology. The aim of the work is to create a database that can be accessed through a simple web interface, in which it will be possible to browse individual shows, their descriptions and to search among the shows. Searching will also be possible by people involved in the shows. Tesseract was used as the optical character recognition engine, obtained shows were entered into a SQLite database and Flask was used for the web interface. Scanned pages of Týdeník Československé televize were used as source materials and the years from 1966 to 1992 were processed. The results of the work give users an insight into the history of television broadcasting in Czechoslovakia and can be used, for example, for the purposes of historians.
Possibilities of using television programmes and shows in practical activities at the first grade of primary school

This thesis deals with the topic of the use of television programmes and shows in the teaching of practical activities at the first grade of primary school. The theoretical part is focused on the characteristics of a pupil of the younger school age, inquiry-based instruction and teaching, and the goals and concepts of primary technical literacy. The preparatory studies also discuss the technical areas of the Framework Curriculum for Primary Education, the cross-cutting theme of Media Education and characterise selected television educational programmes and shows. In the practical part, there are five themes which are processed, including didactic documentation, into the form of original preparations for teaching at the first grade of primary school. The effectiveness of some of the themes has been verified.

TV programme as communication. An informative value and manipulating strategy

The Bachelor Thesis "TV Programme as Communication. An Informative Value and Manipulative Strategy." is focused on analysis of the informative value and usage of manipulative means in TV programme. The main source for my thesis was the collected material of thirty pieces of the magazine called Magazín DNES since 2008 to 2010. The aim of the thesis was to check the appearance of TV programme and used methods influencing the preferences of recipients.
Drama as a part of television program

The topic of this thesis is theater drama as a part of television program. This diploma thesis tries to define unique and specific relationship between two different media - Theater and Television. The main aim of this thesis is mapping and analyzing of the position which theatrical drama, and the theater in general, had and has within a program of television. The next aim of the thesis is reviewing of role of theatre on the beginning of television broadcasting and mapping changes and evolution of meanings, within which theatre drama was presented in television. Primarily, the thesis focuses on a broadcasting of two televisions - the Czechoslovak Television and subsequently the Czech Television. The television broadcasting is influenced by many factors. And same as the medium of television, the presentation of theatre drama in Tv is influenced by these factors as well. The theoretical background and the research should show the contemporary position of theatre, and theatre drama, as a part of television program.
Twenty Years of the TV Show Kouzelná školka (Magic Kindergarten) in the Czech Television

The bachelor's thesis entitled "Twenty Years of the TV Show Magic Kindergarten on the Czech Television" deals with the TV show Magic Kindergarten for preschool children on the Czech television public broadcasting. The goal of the thesis is to find and describe basic changes of the show in the period of twenty years of its broadcasting history. Before the research part, the issue of broadcasting for children and its specifics, the history of composed television shows for children in the Czech Republic and the current state of composed TV shows for children are introduced. Following part of the thesis is dedicated to the TV show Magic Kindergarten - basic description and characteristics of the cited composed television show designed for the youngest viewers. The research goal is to trace changes in both formal side of the show - its length, formal structure, design of the studio, music component, graphics, moderation, and changes in the content - content structure of the show, characteristics of broadcasted shows, content of hosts' inputs, all that on the sample of forty episodes (two episodes for each year of the Magic Kindergarten 1999-2019). Research methods consist of the study of specialized literature, content analysis and comparative research on separate episodes of the sample.
Comparison of changes in content of weekly Czechoslovakian television schedule magazine between years 1989 and 1990

This thesis compares two selected editions of a programme journal Czechoslovakian Television Weekly, specifically years 1989 and 1990. This journal had been issued between years 1965 and 1990 and used to be one of the main sources of a television programme of the Czechoslovakian Television, which was daily watched in many households. Except for the television programme, the journal also dealt with society-wide questions and this made it even more attractive to readers. As a result there was no shortage of readers, nor viewers of the television. Thanks to the vast popularity among readers as well as a close link to the Czechoslovakian Television, the journal was one of the tools to influence the public opinion. The objective of this thesis is to analyze the level of influence of changing political-economical- social situation in Czechoslovakia to journal editions of years 1989 and 1990. After the theoretical foundations that guide readers to understand examined documents and society-wide circumstances, the thesis identifies sections of the journal that are relevant for the analysis and subsequently in the practical part introduces the analysis of relevant sections of the journal. The TV program of the Czechoslovak television from the year 1968 till April of 1970

The thesis titled "The TV program of the Czechoslovak television from the year 1968 till April of 1970" deals with the program offer from the period of so-called Prague Spring until the end of April 1970 when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. I chose this time period because of frequent changes in politics and society, which was reflected in the media content, and thus in the TV content. This time segment is divided into four time periods in which I monitor the program offer of the TV. The first period is the period of Prague Spring, the second one is from September 1969 to April 1970 when Gustáv Husák became the first secretary of the ÚV KSČ, the third one is from May 1969 to August 1970 when Jan Zelenka became the director of Czechoslovak television (he was considered as the first normalization director) and the fourth period is from September 1969 to April 1970, when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. The main aims of this thesis are detailed description and comparison of TV offers in these four periods. To achieve the objectives a comparative analysis is used. Once upon a time in TV: function of fairy tales in the christmas schedule on the czech TV during 2004-2014

The diploma thesis explores relationship between both czech cine and television fairy tales and the Czech Television, analysing a structure of Christmas programme schedules between years 2004 and 2014. The first part defines fairy tales and their function in the context of literary genre and historical evolution, then it continues to a cinematographic and television adaptations of fairy tales. It also includes the psychological aspect of fairy tales. The second part considers fairy tales as mediated message and reveals possible influence of mass media related to their function. It is based on social construction of reality theory, media systems dependency theory and uses and gratifications theory. The third part refers to the Czech Television as to a public service media with specific targets and attitude to the broadcasting and production of fairy tales. At the same time, it mentions the most assigned directors, most broadcasted fairy tales and explains the way how the Czech Television works with them in the programme schedule. In the fourth part there was a quantitative analysis of Christmas programme schedules of the Czech Television made and so was a comparison of individual seasons, days and dayparts.
