Bullying in the workplace in banking

The Bachelor's thesis deals with bullying in the workplace in banking, where bullying is defined as a long-term psychological terror in the workplace. The work contains an explanation of these notions that go along with bullying, these are mobbing, when bullying is by colleagues, bossing is bullying by a superior, and the last important term is staffing, when bullying is by subordinates. The main objective is to describe and characterize workplace bullying, bullying phases, bullying participants, assess how much employees in banking experience with bullying, negative effects on employees and organisation. The work is divided into two units - the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the problem of bullying in the workplace, mobbing - its definition, history, participants, socio-demographic aspects, phases and last but not least forms and objectives. Then, this section discusses bossing and staffing. The practical part discusses banking from the perspective of legislation, laws that concern the banking sector. Subsequently, the paper looks at research in the form of a questionnaire survey to determine the frequency of bullying in the banking sector, the form of bullying and who is most likely to become a participant in bullying. The practical part includes an assessment of the level of bullying in banking and a proposal for preventive measures to eliminate bullying in banking.
Approaches of managers to prevent workplace bullying in the banking sector

The bachelor's thesis is concerned with the approaches of managers to prevent workplace bullying in the banking sector. It aims at knowledge and experience of individual managers with terms mobbing, bossing, staffing and at current situation in branches of various banking institutions. It also analyses approaches taken by banking institutions to this matter and their influence on the education of managers. A questionnaire examines whether managers take action to stop workplace bullying and how they handle potential conflict situations. Based on the research, managers take measures to prevent workplace bullying and banking institutions provide proper training. However, the knowledge of basic terms in this matter is relatively low and managers mostly do not know how to deal with workplace bullying properly. The thesis also proposes a list of suggestions for improving the knowledge of managers and for maintaining good relations in the workplace.

Personnel management in kindergarten

The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of personnel work in education, specifically in kindergarten. The aim of the work is the analysis and evaluation of the activities of the kindergarten principal in the field of personnel management with a focus on personnel procedures, the acquisition, selection and development of employees. Its content is an analysis of this issue based on theoretical background, questionnaires and interviews. The first part of the bachelor's thesis brings a theoretical framework of the issue, the examined role of the manager, management and leadership, decision-making and communication. Practical part focuses on the process of personnel management in a private kindergarten. The results of the survey examine in detail the current issues of personnel management from the perspective of the principals of private kindergartens and recommendations for their practice are proposed. Na pracovištích bývá poměrně často opomíjena kvalita interpersonálních vztahů. Ze strany managementu takových organizací je věnována pozornost především měřitelným ekonomickým a jiným ukazatelům, aniž by si jeho příslušníci uvědomovali, že se kvalita interpersonálních vztahů významně podepisuje na těch ukazatelích, na které se především zaměřují. Na jedné straně si tak jsou ve shodě s manažerskou literaturou vědomi skutečnosti, že lidé představují největší bohatství jejich organizace, na straně druhé se však o toto bohatství nestarají adekvátním způsobem, což platí i o oblasti mezilidských vztahů. Přitom poznatky ze sociometrických výzkumů, které byly provedené v 60. letech minulého století mezi posádkami amerických bombardérů během války ve Vietnamu, poukázaly na to, že osádky tvořené průměrnými členy s dobrými vztahy mezi sebou dosahují lepších výsledků v porovnání s osádkami, které sice byly tvořené špičkovými vojáky, avšak mezi nimiž nepanovaly právě nejlepší mezilidské vztahy.1 Špatná kvalita interpersonálních vztahů na pracovišti může mít variabilní intenzitu a různou délku trvání. K nejzávažnějším jevům v této oblasti náleží mobbing, bossing a staffing, jimž je věnovaná pozornost v této stati. Jejím cílem je poskytnou základní orientaci v této problematice, na kterou je možno nahlížet z různých pohledů (např. z pohledu psychologického, sociologického, právního aj.).
Working morality and ethical issues at workplaces

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out which ethical problems are most often encountered by employees of large manufacturing companies and how these ethical problems affect their work and personal life. The theoretical part will deal with defining ethical problems and explaining basic terminology. The practical part will be realized in the form of quantitative research, which will be based on an anonymous questionnaire survey. Respondents will be employees of large manufacturing companies in the South Bohemian Region. The conclusion of the thesis will be devoted to the concrete story of the victim of unethical behavior and also suggestions to solve this problems.
New Recruitment procedures

This Diploma Thesis is focused on new procedures in recruitment. Special attention is primarily given to online recruitment and coherent social networks. The major objective is to assess recruitment procedure in a particular company, especially whether and to what extent the company focuses on external environment, accepts current trends and applies new methods of recruitment. Based on superior enquiry, the analysis of current state of the recruitment process was made. As a next step, using comparison of this analysis with the theoretical foundations led to identification of weaknesses and strengths of the process. It was found that analysed company is trying to accept new trends, however, there were identified drawbacks, which could be eliminated by introduction of formulated optimization proposals.
Preventing social pathologies in employment relations (for example the employer)

This bachelor thesis deals with the problems concerning the prevention of social pathologies in employment relations. The first part defines the key forms of pathological behaviour mobbing, bossing, staffing. The thesis then shows the causes and strategies of these pathological phenomena and the consequences of mobbing on several levels personal and economic. Different forms of prevention used by companies in order to avoid these social pathologies are shown in the theoretical part of this thesis. The practical part focuses on an analysis of the effectiveness of prevention in a specific company. Data are obtained through half-structured interview with the manager of the company and through the questionnaires. The survey results find that prevention in the company is effective. The conclusion suggests the measures of how to improve current state of prevention. Proposals for changes concern - the method of remuneration and assessment, raising awareness of the existence of mobbing among employees, and the establishment of regular company meetings that deal with working environment.
Staffing in retail

This thesis focuses on the issue of staffing in retail, specifically focusing on the retail of luxury goods. The main aim is to map the process of staffing itself and then to create optimization measures in order to increase the efficiency of recruitment. By analyzing the staffing process there will be developed optimization measures, which are based on existing processes used in international companies and also on recommendations of the personnel department group LVMH. An important part of this thesis is the analysis of the labor market and human capital from a demographic perspective and analysis of changes in population structure. The contribution is to create the necessary recommendations to streamline the staffing process, including providing more detailed information about these processes in luxury retail and summary of theoretical knowledge in the field of personnel management.
