Art education for pupils with special needs

This thesis is focused on assessing applications of educational contents and goals of the subject Art in the school for pupils with special educational needs. Firsly are characterized the Framework educational programme and School educational programme. Consequently is analyzed the content of School educational program at Elementary and Practical school Svítání, o.p.s. Through action research there are compared the contents of the above binding documents with reality of teaching in the school, which deals with the education of pupils with special educational needs. Action research was realized through video record, transcriptions and analysis of recorded lessons, evaluation of used forms and methods in teaching practice, suggestions and subsequent implementations of didactic art education project with pupils of this school. The work with Framework and School educational programme revealed that the School educational programme subjected to analysis is too focused only on art techniques and specific themes, almost disregards Framework educational programme and very limitedly works with curriculum or expected outcomes discussed herein. The Education of Pupils with Visual Impairment at Elementary School for Visually Impaired Compared with the Integration at (Standard) Elementary School

The aim of the this bachelor thesis is to compare the education process of visually impaired students in primary school education mainstream setting to a special school education system. This study is to elusidate and give a general view of education environment, it´s approach, how the attitude vary by individual impairment characteristics and by the type and nature of the institution they attend. The theoretical part of this thesis is concentrated on scientific research for visual impaired students, provides classification of visual impairments, concerns the personality traits of visually impared individual towards education strategies within regular mainstream education system at primary and speacial schools. The practical part is demostrated by casuistry of visually impaired individuals, data are generated through semi -structured interviews with student participants, parents, staff members Teachers of Visually Impaired and my own teaching experience.

Supporting literacy development in the special kindergarten

This Bachelor's thesis deals with the development of early literacy among children in a special kindergarten which educates children with mild and moderate intellectual disability that is associated with serious vision or hearing impairments, speech disorder and ASD autism spectrum disorder. The theoretical part explains terminology such as literacy, functional literacy and gives us more details about the early literacy and its support in the special kindergarten. The research part deals with diagnosis and development of five children from the special kindergarten and skills connected with literacy.
Application of Art Therapy for Children in Special Education

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to explore art therapy in a heterogeneous group of pupils of a special education primary school and to offer methodology of work with young school-age children with distinct development needs. The study presents evaluation of the most effective methods and forms of work with this group, as well as assessment of benefits and limitations of art therapy with a special regard to group dynamics. Effectivity of the art therapeutic method is evaluated through observation of artistic development of individual students. The results were verified by the means of interview with the school psychologist and respective parents. The result of the study shows the benefits of group art therapy, which comprise of providing deeper understanding of individual group members and their social skills development, including giving help and empathy training. The limitations of the method reside in art work assessment capabilities of pupils caused by varying development needs that hinder an in-depth discussion of individual topics.
