Revitalization Program of Floral Garden in Kromeriz
Koželouhová, Anna ; Vojtová, Lea (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (advisor)
The topic of the bachelor thesis is the design of the revitalization of the foreground of the Květná garden in Kroměříž and of the service building for visitors. When solving the project, the first ideas were initiated by its strong social context. The garden art has always been a reflection of its own period. The founders of gardens – the aristocracy, monarchs or clergy – have used gardens as a means to represent their social status. They have tried to point out the things that have been conceived as artistically and technically (and later socially) progressive and correct. The main ideal concept of my project results from these facts and considerations. I seek to represent today’s era and society – within the meaning of the good, what they could and according to my opinion should bring to each other. And what they perhaps do… That is why I apply knowledge of today’s technique and ecology in my project – in terms of the use of local natural materials and renewable energy resources. At the same time I try to take advantage of and to give support to the frankness of today’s society and to create a project with a social and human overlap. I incorporate a function of a temporary sheltered housing into the area and support integration of people into the society through garden works and therapies. Last but not least – I would like to open the gardens to the broadest scope of the laic public and to create not only an esthetic function, but an educational as well. From the architectural point of view, I tried to bring contemporary components into the garden, which, however, respect the historical evolution and the temporary situation and connect to them. In the Holandská garden I placed the visitors centre into the ground plan – a path of the former “casino”. It closes up this lengthwise space, it creates a notion of continuance of the colonnade of the Květná garden (and transcription of the arcade on its façade), and it balances the dimension of the tropical glasshouse on the other side of the garden. Regarding the solution of the garden space, I respect the cross axes of the Květná garden as well as the main longitudinal axe of the foreground. I create a simple composition of larger sheets with two new “piazzas” – at the place of the renewed Neptune’s fountain and in front of the visitor’s center. By creating the elevated sheets I add the third dimension to the parcel. In the southern part of the foreground I compose functionally different spaces along the longitudinal axe. Hence, visitor’s attention is non-violently drawn to the aviary. Crosswise, the garden is divided into several parts – the representational one (by the cold glasshouse), the agricultural and educational one (but no less attractive) with the garden centre, and the leisure area of the aviary and the so called “rabbit hill”.
Sheltered housing at Kociánka in Brno
Schwab, Viktor ; Šerek, Jiří (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The original intention was a development on the edge in the peripheral agricultural area of the Kociánka Center complex and at the city’s inappropriate car park near to the industrial complex of the former Královopolská engineering company. By developing and adding new functions, this periphery and the border of the complex Kociánka Center can be transformed into a new space communicating with the outside world. The proposal focuses on creating homes for shared living for adult people with various types of disabilities and creating new job opportunities on the southern peripheral edge of the Kociánka Center complex. Transformation of periphery can be reached by modifying the southern edge, revitalizing the existing car park with a hydroponic greenhouse system, pavilion, and a photovoltaic rooftop power plant. Behind this barrier building there is a calm place for sheltered housing.

HORÁKOVÁ, Jana
Bachelor thesis on the topic Social work in sheltered housing in Domov Kamélie Křižanov, p. o. is focused on social work with clients who has either light or medium mental disability and who are also habitants of Domov Kamélie Křižanov, p. o. The theoretical part describes sheltered housing with all its aims and principals, sheltered housing Křižanov described, clients of sheltered housing and description of light and medium mental disabilities. In the practical part the qualitative research is selected. Questioning was used as a research metod. Semi-structured interview was used as a data collection technique. In the research I did an interview with ten social services workers and one social worker. The aim bachelor thesis is to map social work with clients with light and meduim mental disabilities in sheltered housing Kamélie Křižanov, p. o. Partial goal is to describe the role of social worker as well as his job description. The second partial goal is to find out how clients are involed into making decisions about the service they're using. The third partial goal is to determinate the benefits of sheltered housing services. The results shows that social worker and social services workers is based on unified view. Thanks to this view, it is way much easier to help the client with his indipendence and develop the neccesery activities and skills to the maximal extent possible. According to the whole team in Kamélie Křižanov housing, attention is paid to all possible ways of trainig and development, as well as supervision, which eliminates the risk of failiture to a minimum. The results further showed that, in identifying how clients are involved in deciding how to use the service, it is primary for clients to choose the activity they will perform themselves, or to assist them, not to make decisions on behalf of clients. Furthermore, to acquire and train the skills needed for independent living as well as to practice the development of practical skills associated with self-care and apartment maintenance, the demonstration is a priority, then constant repetition of activities. The client will get a habit which will make it easier for the clients to gradually start living independently. To maintain and establish social bonds, interest from users of sheltered housing in cultural events has been found to be high, where they spend time with their friends and can forge new social ties. Family ties are, in many cases, solid through visits, and user friendships are solidified. The only problem persists is getting involved into the labor market, there are only two clients who have a job and, thanks to it, their own income. Bachelor thesis and its results can help other social workers and social service workers who work in social care facilities with clients with mental disabilities. Bachelor thesis describes what is neccesary to obey and which direction to go to have positive results. It also should develop social workers attitude of thinking. His persuasion should depend on what is important for his client, and also how important is an individual attitude. This bachelor thesis brings evaluation and point of view of social workers who work in sheltered housing Domov Kamélie Křižanov, p. o. It also shows how society can still have prejudices against these kind of facilities. This document can be a proof that well-functioning team is the basic circumstance for effective work.
