Lacroix, Jean ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Strielkowski, Wadim (referee)
Corruption is morally condemnable but what about its economical effect on the efficiency of on economy? Different transmission channels positively and negatively correlated with growth exist. The aim of this work is to catch the overall reality behind this impressively high number of transmission channels. Another task is to show the concrete consequences of corruption on a little economy like Haïti and what could be the consequences of the weaknesses induced by corruption. A presentation of the theoretical background is described together with the particularities of corruption in developing countries. A case study on Haïti, its infrastructure and the impact of corruption after the earthquake of 2010 will illustrate the theory. Last but not least, we present a model, where we analyze corruption as a determinant of growth in developing countries using data of 2011.

Krečmer, Marek ; Skuhrovec, Jiří (advisor) ; Vukelić, Tatjana (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to analyse the expenditures and public procure- ments of fifteen municipalities and all of the ministries of the Czech Republic during the years 2009-2011. The main core is in analysis of what are the procurable expenditures and what percentage of them is procured through the Information System of Public Procurements ISVZ. The main idea behind this analysis is that every other procurable expenditures not procured through ISVZ could be labeled as non-transparent. Hence, higher the ratio of expenditures procured publicly through the ISVZ, the better is the authority in achieving the good practice. The results of this analysis could be used as a comparative tool between the respective authorities. Microcredit in Developed Countries: the Case of Quebec
Griss-Trempe, Nicolas ; Janda, Karel (advisor) ; Bauer, Michal (referee)
Microcredit in developed countries behaves in a di erent way than in developing countries. Not only are there bigger obstacles to surpass, like regulation and heavy competition, but also the main driver for microcredit, peer pressure, is almost inexistent. Microcredit institutions turn to a di erent technique to ensure high repayment rates; they follow the loan using training and weekly meetings. However, this procedure has high costs and the institutions must plead for donations from public and private gures. Ensuring these donations come with higher repayment rates. Thus, we will observe which characteristic of a group loan has a positive or negative impact on the repayment rates using data from the Quebec institution of the RQCC. These variables range from gender to training hours and will be regressed using stata.

The Prognosis of the Development of Expenditures on Funding of the Long-Term Care in the Context of Demographic Changes of the Czech Republic
Mudra, Martin ; Chytil, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Slaný, Martin (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to quantify future public costs of providing long-term care services in the environment of population ageing of the Czech Republic until the year 2060. The methodology of this thesis is based on a macrosimulation model of European Commision (EC, 2012), but better data were used. The results of this thesis confirm the hypothesis, that population ageing will have significant impact on future public long-term care costs. The demografic effect causes an increse of these expenditures as a share of GDP from 0, 69 % in 2012 to 2, 02 % until the year 2060. The rate of this increase could be partially compensated by the improvement of the health status of population according to the theories of compression of morbidity (Fries, 1980) and the dynamic equilibrium theory by Manton (1982).
