Diagnostic of school maturity

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the topic of school-matureness diagnostics.Through theoretical background it presents, at which level a child should be developed enough in terms of his/her character and knowledge, before entering the compulsory school attendance. Terms such as school knowledge and school readiness are tightly connected to the topic and explained in this research. Recent and former legislative requirements concerning the beginning of one's compulsory school attendance, school enrollment, and postponement of compulsory school attendance are mentioned. Following the theoretical part, the practical part of this thesis diagnoses school maturity. The Preliminary test of school maturity by Jaroslav Jirasek is described in detail, other often used diagnostically materials and publicly available publications with content being well usable for the diagnoses are also shortly introduced. Base don those publications a test for the diagnosis of school maturity was developed, and it was together with Jirasek's Preliminary test of school maturity used for testing school maturity with a research sample. Speech prevention in kindergarten

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with issues of speech disorder prevention, speech development in children, the most common articulation disorder - dyslalia and possible ways of its prevention. Further on, I focus on various factors contributing to speech development, on the framework educational programme for pre-school education in relation to language and speech and on the actual speech disorder prevention in the nursery school programme. The practical part discusses ways the primary prevention in nursery schools actually works, if the teachers are given sufficient support in this area and whether common practice corresponds with their vision of an ideal prevention delivery. Results will be collected through a questionnaire, additional interviews and literature analysis. The goal of this work is to map teachers' interest and knowledge in the area of primary speech disorder prevention and its relation to postponement of compulsory school attendance. The diploma thesis focuses on issues of the school admission to the 1st grade of the primary school. Nowadays this topic is more and more often discussed mainly from perspective of the different approach of many primary schools to checking out the school readiness during the school admission. This thesis is divided into two parts, the theoretical and the practical part. The first chapter of the theoretical part describes the terms school readiness and its particular issues. Next chapter describes the school admission to the 1st grade; there we can find recommended methods of checking the school readiness and organization of the school entry. Next chapter focuses on postponement of school attendance and preparatory classes, which are aimed at those children who got the postponement of school attendance. The last chapter deals with the school entrance and first months spent in the school class, because it relates to the school readiness and school admission and therefore it logically closes the theoretical part. Evaluation of two diagnostic tools used to diagnose school readiness

The thesis is devoted to the issue of school readiness and its diagnosis. The aim was to compare the two tests used for the testing of school readiness and to assess whether the comparatively evaluate some aspects of school readiness. In the first chapter of the theoretical part the area of development of preschool children in describe. The second chapter is devoted to major changes in the legislation of our education. The next two chapters (third and fourth) are on school readiness, enrollment in elementary and diagnostics of school maturity. The last, fifth chapter of the theoretical part, deals with immaturity and unpreparedness for entry into school. In the practical part I focused on in-house testing and evaluation of tests used. For testing, I chose two tests used to evaluate school maturity. The results of the two tests I tried using statistical methods to determine whether these tests evaluate comparatively. This Bachelor's dissertation focuses on the issue of postponement of school attendance. The theoretical part describes the child development from birth to preschool in the areas of mental, physical, motor and social development, the conditions for starting primary school in individual areas of maturity, the terms school maturity and school readiness, and it further describes the risk factors that lead to the postponement of school attendance. A questionnaire survey is evaluated and the survey results are interpreted in the practical part. The survey aims to find out what the most common reasons for the postponement of school attendance are, what diagnostic methods are used by kindergarten teachers and how teachers focus on the issue of readiness of children for starting primary school.
Phonological and morphological skills of preschool children

This bachelor's thesis is focusing on the development of preschool children, primarily on their phonological and morphological abilities. The main objective of this thesis is to examine further risks of reading abilities,indicating possibilities of reducing all these risks by the methodical work with children of preschool age. In the theoretical definition the physical, psychological and social development of children is defined, as well as their maturity and readiness for school in regards to speech as well as their phonological and morphological abilities. The practical part is focused on quantitative research of preschool children, with a focus specifically on the observation of variables, mostly in phonological and morphological abilities, techniques, practices. Based on obtained results are recommended exercises for the development of these abilities.

This thesis (work) is devoted to the problems of postponement of school attendance. Theoretic part deals with the school maturity, the school readiness, the characteristic of the pre-school age and the postponement of school attendance. The aim of the research is to find out how to approach children with the postponement of school attendance. If there are used the special tasks, if there is devoted an individual care. In the practical part the interviews with teachers and with workers of pedagogical and psychological centres were made. I used also the method of an observation the work with children, who have the postponement of school attendance. I wanted to find out, if these children are mature enough and if they are more successful in those difficult fields.
Motivation to school by preschoolo children

The bachelor thesis deals with the motivation to school in preschool children. The theoretical part begins with a description of preschool age. It then focuses on the changes associated with entering the school, school readiness and preparedness. It also included the concept of education in kindergarten and first grade of elementary school. The practical part describes the process and results of research, which aimed to find out what the children look forward to school, what they expect and what they fear. Used in research are two research methods - semistructured interview and analysis of drawings.
