A content (text) analysis of the primary sources gives the answers on how those actors work with the definition of human trafficking and to what extent the two member states implemented the EU Directive 2011/36/EU and other documents. In addition to conducting the content (text) analysis, creating a literature review and researching on different discourses linked to this phenomenon, this thesis include two semi-structured interviews with the representatives of the Czech Republic and Belgium. Those offer deeper insight into how those states form this fight in practice. They unveiled different aspects in their own approaches but also aspects that make their approach unique. Immigration is a topic that plays an important role in American society, it manages to capture both the general public as well as the political world. Especially in the United States of America, it is a very complex issue that affects a large number of sectors which is why a specific area has been selected for this thesis in order to narrow the researched field and provide detailed information. The thesis seeks to analyze the situation in immigration detention facilities throughout the U.S. with regard to basic human rights violations. For this reason, the thesis focuses on international humanitarian law and the Constitution of the United States, which should protect both legal and illegal immigrants, however, their non-compliance is one of the main points interconnecting all chapters of this paper. The Involvement of the International Criminal Court in Investigating Crimes outside Armed Conflict
Patková, Lucie ; Werkman, Kateřina (advisor) ; Pulgret, Miroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with the question, in which situation the International Criminal court would probably open an Investigation of such crimes by an international body is a delicate question mainly with regard to a great extend of intervention into a state sovereignty, which manifests itself also as jurisdictional sovereignty. The thesis focuses on the case of Kenyan post-election violence in years of 2007 and 2008 and the aim to suppress Libyan revolution of 2011. Besides, the work is based upon the theory of (liberal) institutionalism, which could hopefully be applied to the international-law case of investigation of the crimes committed outside an armed conflict. Within the framework of the thesis I try to reveal criteria determining whether the International Criminal court opens or not an investigation to a situation of human rights abuse. For the purpose I take into consideration world and local country status, character of the perpetrators, extend of the attacks, country's relation to the great powers, as well as readiness of the country to prosecute the perpetrators within the national jurisdiction. As conclusion I try t compare the findings from the part applying liberal institutionalism and from the case studies.
Social Business
Konečná, Petra ; Mlčoch, Lubomír (advisor) ; Chytilová, Julie (referee)
This master thesis focuses on social business and its influence in economy. Social business as a tool to solve social problems is approximated by development aid as its subset and by human rights violations as related social problems. Human rights open a discussion of their relationship to economics and consequently development. The empirical part tests whether human rights are affected by a distribution of development aid to different sectors, namely social and economic infrastructure and services and production sectors. The panel data analysis of 30 least developed countries in three regions according to the Human Development Index over a period 2005 to 2001 brings results that flows of official development aid to the economic infrastructure and services significantly drives human rights violations.
