Jan Vobořil Abstract This thesis compares municipal elites in Karlín and Libeň - two suburban areas of Prague - between the years 1861 and 1914. Both municipalities were among the rapidly growing industrial communities with a significant presence of large mechanical engineering factories owned by shareholders. Moreover, Karlín also functioned as a commercial and financial center. The thesis analyzes their specific characteristics, urban development and demographics in the considered time period, as well as formation of municipal elites at the level of local government, election race and development of local politics. It also discusses the socio-professional characteristics of members of local government and their lifestyle based on collective biography considering among others their property, national preferences, social activities and housing standards and formation of family relations. Hispanoamerican Literary Tradition as Reflected in the Jorge Luis Borges' Works

The aim of the work is to present Argentinian literary tradition as reflected in the Jorge Luis Borges' essays and collections of poems from his early creative period (twentieth and thirtieth of 20th century). The corpus of the analyzed works is created by three collections of poems - Passion for Buenos Aires, Moon across the Way, San Martin Copybook and three books of essays - Evaristo Carriego, The Size of My Hope and The language of the Argentines. At the beginning, the text is focused on Argentinian (respectively on Hispanoamerican) cultural context at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Then, the text continues by analysis of six Borges' books mentioned above reflecting five most important Argentinian motives - pampa, gaucho, compadrito, Buenos Aires and its suburbs and dictator. The author notices different attitudes to Argentinian topic and concludes that Argentina symbolizes very important theme, which is influenced also by Borges' predecessors (e. g. Archaeological excavations in Pražské-předměstí suburb of the town of České Budějovice

The content of this thesis is to evaluate the extensive artifact of the current file, obtained within the rescue archaeological research in the Prague suburb in České Budějovice in 1995. The thesis also summarizes the history of the settlement, the historical context of the establishment of the royal town České Budějovice, urbanism, information relating to the local suburb and the local pottery production, the circumstances of the archaeological research and the description of finding situations. Příspěvek se soustředí na analýzu dvou konkrétních problémů: problematiky islámského šátku a občanských nepokojů na předměstí. Součástí práce je zhodnocení reforem a vládních řešení v imigrační a integrační politice Francie.
