This bachelor thesis is divided into two major parts. The first part contains partial translation of Sheldon Cashdan's book The Witch Must Die published in 1999 The book analyses fairy tales from psychological point of view. The translation is followed by a commentary that provides an analysis of the source text based on the model introduced by Christiane Nord. The commentary also includes a description of chosen translation method and a summary of the major translation problems. The aim of this bachelor thesis is the translation of a German original text into Czech provided with a translation commentary. The translated text is an article published in 2011 in a German scientific journal Spiegel der Forschung n.28 (issue 1). The article deals with vegetarianism around the whole world and in Germany and tries to explain this diet to a wider audience. The translation commentary consists of a translation analysis of the original text, which contains a description of intertextual and extratextual factors based on Christiane Nord's theory. The thesis deals with translation methods, problems that occur during translation and their possible solutions based on the translation analysis. The goal of this bachelor thesis is to create a functional equivalent of the text Die Philosophie in der Sprache by Dieter Henrich in Czech language and to support the translation with scholarly comments. The first part of the thesis consists of the actual translation of the German text into the Czech language, the remaining parts deal with the analysis of the translation, the determination of the method of translation, solving of translatological problems and translation shifts. The source text is included as an appendix.

The aim of this Bachelor thesis is to provide a commented translation of an English text. The thesis consists of two parts. The first one is a translation of the second chapter of the book The Soviet Novel. The subject of the chapter is the positive hero in Socialist Realism, his genesis and evolution. The second part provides a commentary to the translation comprising a source text analysis and from that basis defines the translation method, the translation problems and the most frequented translation shifts. The conclusion summarizes the aims and results of the work.

The aim of this thesis is to translate the text Queer Fiction - The Ambiguous Emergence of a Genre and make a commentary. The commentary is divided into four parts. The first one is an analysis of the source text, it is followed by a description of the method of translation I used. The third part threats the main problems I faced while translating, including their solution and their explanations. In the final part, I analyse shifts between the original and translated texts.
