Refurbishment of the Brno - Tuřany Airport

This diploma thesis describes the reconstruction of the operation parts in the international airport in Brno and proposal of a new arrivals hall. The diploma thesis also shows the specific management of the airport, connection with the existing concourse and design of an appropriate concept of addition of new buildings with currently missing services. The reconstruction deals with the insufficient capacity of the arrivals hall and current bad technical conditions and its inconvenient capacity of arrivals and departures. In this concept, the airport capacity is doubled, up to 2 000 000 passengers per year. This concept, based on axial and mutual synergy of building parts, contains a design of two objects, the central part with public services (clearance, waiting hall, restaurant, control tower, areas for rent, arrivals and departures support), and arrivals hall (inspection, luggage clearance hall). The diploma project is developed in the range of a study. It is based on a previous urban study of the airport in connection to following-up the development of neighboring towns and surrounding area.

The theme of Master thesis is a Gallery of aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Gallery aviation technology and traditions of aviation at the airport Medlánky in Brno. The project insludes overall operation of the sports airport, then deal in detail operations of the museum and related services within the airport. The new campus will humbly entered in the countryside, in an attractive location Medláneckých hills creates another attractive feature and despite the complex operation and movement techniques does not create a barrier to the contrary territory it unites and is a natural center. Airports Medlanky was founded already in the twenties of the last century, and since then the area is relatively non-conceptually grew by more hangars and various outbuildings. Of these, only two were preserved original wooden sheds, which adds yet another new administrative and ceremonial buildings. Operational buildings set limits on technology, the new representative building it closes, and defining a space for people, nature trail connects the area, offers wonderful views and creates a public space that makes passers airport. The whole area is oriented to the back area and opens onto the landscape, wide area thus presents an iconic silhouette reperzentační building. The curve of the building provides space aircraft-makers to fly and allows collision-free movement of people and equipment around the airport and also generates a dignified space for aircraft to fly longer will. Exposure air museum at the second floor of the building and the visitor thus rises to individual gliders that levitate in space, the sun's rays make their reflections on the polished bonnets and backgrounds are vivid airports and skies. Architectural Proposal of Building in Area of Air Port Brno Medlánky

Project presents the vision of the new Medlánky airport infrastructure, which is nowadays uncared, confused and without any possibility of expansion. The intention is create clear and well-arranged extensible structure. Safety of aircraft operations is the highest priority. New airport infrastructure should provide quality facilities for club members and pleasant surroundings for visitors. Every building has to declare its function on the first sight. Shapes and material solutions of primary buildings are inspired by aircrafts. Service buildings are low, flat and orthogonal. Simplicity is important, because aircrafts – machines have star part.
Procedures for aerodrome certification, required by EASA

The master´s thesis targets to compile summary document for aerodrome certification by EASA requirements and to create methodology for application of these documents. Master´s thesis consists of three main parts. In the first part is described national legislation, which in general regulates condition for civil aviation. There is also specified current legislation, by which the conditions for aerodrome certification are set. The second part of the thesis involves EASA requirements in field of aerodrome certification. There is described organisation structure of agency, information about its emergence and field of occupation. The certification process is analysed in the main part of the thesis. Moreover there is demonstrated the probable schedule of the certification process in the Czech republic and the documents, that should be issued.
Innovative methods of airport biological control

The main content of this master’s thesis is identification of biological threats and analysis of present means of aerodrome biological control, description of their effectiveness and possibilities of usage. Furthermore the way of bird strikes recordkeeping and innovative means, devices and procedures of aerodrome biological control considering the required safety level are mentioned.
Sports airport Brno - Medlanky

The aim of this thesis is to improve functionality and revive the sports airport Medlánky in place of the existing airport. The proposal uses the existing sport airport complex. The concept was inspired by the shape and design of airplane wings. Therefore it is so uniquely connected to the dynamic appearance of the airport, the air traffic and thus forming a unified whole, which does not disturb the landscape. To improve the operation and upgrade the airport, it was necessary to analyze and find trouble spots first, to solve them and possibly supplement by operating buildings, or change their form and function. For this reason, the main and secondary routes were established as well as private and public zones and last but not least, parking and resting areas.
Technical and operational factors which has impact to the performance of airports in civil aviation

The diploma thesis deals with factors that directly or indirectly affect the operation of the airport. The thesis contains theoretical notes of influencing factors, a list of aircraft and their characteristics, including mutual comparison in graphs. The next part focuses on the airport itself, where it tries to identify the factors that affect its operation, including historical events. The next part focuses on the selection of airports in Central Europe, determining the appropriate performance characteristics, which are then compared and evaluated.
HST Station at the Airport Brno Tuřany

This diploma thesis was prepared as an architectural study. The subject of the proposal was design of VRT station in Brno-Tuřany, near Brno airport. It was designed station building with platforms and four tracks. Two of them are passable and the other two are stationary. Rails leads below ground level. Above the rails is rail station that connect both areas next the rail corridor. Railway station serves primarily to transfer between rail and air transport.

The main content of this master’s thesis is design of RNAV SID and STAR routes for Brno Tuřany Airport. The study analyses usage of current conventional instrument arrivals and departures published for the aerodrome and describes its TMA. The new precision RNAV routes and the terminal area are designed based on the indentified information. A detailed construction of the chosen departure procedure is enclosed.

This diploma thesis deals with navigation on airport surface. In thesis there are described main surveillance systems, which are used for navigation on airport surface and systems for prediction and avoiding collisions. For all systems is listed principle of action, their usage, advantages and disadvantages and informations, which are provided by these systems. In last chapter there are compared properties of main surveillance systems.
