The Effect of Arousal on the Learning Process
TORÁČOVÁ, Kamila
This bachelor thesis deals with the study of the influence of low-arousal (low-activation) and high-arousal (high-activation) music on the learning process. The theoretical part deals with the process of learning, attention, the mechanism of memory and the conceptualization of arousal as an emotional component and a general component of activation in the field of music. The practical part will be performed in the form of an experiment, in which the learning process will be influenced by the presentation of standardized music recordings evaluated on the basis of arousal. Memorabilia tasks are chosen as experimental tasks, and data analysis will address differences in memorization rates based on the presence of variation of musical activity. The experiment consists of two parts, in the first part the probands try to memorize number series and in the second part a group of words.
Games in primary school geometry
Myšková, Markéta ; Jirotková, Darina (advisor) ; Slezáková, Jana (referee)
5 Abstract This diploma thesis is called The Games in Primary School Geometry and it describes the benefits of the games in teaching geometry as a teaching method for acquiring and strengthening geometric knowledge. The goal of the thesis is to submit the set of didactic games which are suitable for teaching geometry and point out interesting cognitive and interactive phenomena identified in the communication among pupils and a teacher in the role of an experimenter. The work consists of a theoretical and practical part. The first one explains the key terms related to the game in geometry, for example: the learning process, teaching methods, didactic game, motivation, communication, spatial and geometric imagination. Literature concerning the fields of pedagogy, psychology and mathematics was used to elaborate the topics of the thesis. The practical part contains a set of game suggestions for teaching geometry. I chose a few of the games and used them when teaching the pupils of the 4th class of the basic school. The course of each game is commented on and described in details. The conclusion contains the self-reflection and I set the topics for my future work as a teacher. Keywords: didactic game, teaching methods, learning process, terminology, game strategy.
Evaluation of teaching in nursery schools in the Central Region
Toušová, Eva ; Trunda, Jiří (advisor) ; Voda, Jan (referee)
3 ABSTRACT: Final thesis deals with the question of evaluation of teaching in nursery schools. It provides information on what forms of assessment are used, which methods are the most frequently chosen, and what evaluation criteria to determine school. The paper also asked whether the evaluation in kindergartens focuses on the progress of the educational process or learning outcomes. The theoretical part provides an overview of the importance of individual concepts in the management of the educational process and its evaluation. A substantial part of the research, which was conducted through a questionnaire survey and analysis of the annual CSI. The result is a mapping of the current state of management and evaluation of teaching in nursery schools. KEYWORDS: Learning process, assessment, evaluation, professional portfolio, 360 feedback rating, assessment criteria, responsibilities of teachers.
Constructivist teaching of percentage in two classes with a different background in teaching mathematics
Pechmanová, Kateřina ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Kvasz, Ladislav (referee)
The content of the thesis consists of a description of constructivist teaching of the topic of percentage in the primary school, that is the teaching in which not the teacher, but the pupil is in the center. The principles of constructivist teaching and the learning process in terms of the theory of generic models are described on the basis of literature. In accordance with these principles, a number of textbooks have been analyzed, in which the the topic of percentage is introduced, and experimental teaching based on the above principles has been prepared. Experimental teaching was realized in two classes of the 7th grade with a different experience with the teaching of mathematics in their 6th grade. The main goal of the work was to prepare, implement, describe and evaluate the teaching of percentage based on pupils' activity and their individual discovery. The lessons have been described and evaluated on the basis of audio recordings, notes from the lessons, records of pupilss solutions, interviews, notes and interviews with a teacher assistant, pre-tests and post-tests. The lessons were analyzed mainly in terms of pupils' involvement in teaching, their discoveries and knowledge acquisition, including its anchoring in the knowledge structure. In both classes, part of the pupils managed to find a...
Constructivist teaching of the area of a triangle and parallelogram in two classes with a different background in teaching mathematics
Sovič, Pavel ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Tůmová, Veronika (referee)
The thesis deals with constructivist approaches to teaching mathematics in lower secondary school, which means that a pupil is the centre of learning process. Based on study of literature, textbook analysis, and, in particular, in accordance with the theory of generic models as a theory describing way to build pupils' knowledge, a teaching experiment was prepared, focusing on the area of triangle and parallelogram. Experimental lessons were realized in two 7 grade classes with different experience with being taught mathematics at the elementary school. One class was taught by a highly instructive series of textbooks, while the second by textbooks which respected the principles of constructivism aimed at pupils and allowed individualization of learning process. The main objective of the thesis is to describe the experimental education in both classes and evaluate it from two perspectives. First of all, qualitatively, by analysing video recordings of lessons, pupils' solutions, notes from lessons, print screens from interactive whiteboard, but also by examining attendance sheets from teachers observing some lessons. In the second case, quantitatively, based on pre- and post- tests. The qualitative analysis is mainly focused on key discoveries and didactical situations in teaching and on an assessment...
Motivation of High School Students for School Work
Fiedlerová, Lucie ; Morávková Krejčová, Lenka (advisor) ; Gillernová, Ilona (referee)
Many secondary school teachers are currently facing students' lack of interest in the subjects taught. Research findings have also repeatedly shown that students' motivation for school work decreases as the length of the studies increases. Furthermore, students' level of motivation reaches a very low level during adolescence despite the fact that many of them make choices regarding their future careers. This thesis focuses on the relation between the motivation of students for school work and the attitudes and skills of teachers - their educational styles, and whether the relationship between students and them is positive or negative. The theoretical part of this paper introduces and describes the above mentioned concepts - educational styles and motivation - or more precisely, what kinds of motivation there are, and how these affect not only the learning process itself, but also the performance, results, and performance goals, all of which are closely linked. The practical part consists of a research investigation focused on verifying the link between students' motivation for school work and the educational styles used by their teachers. Key words motivation, education style, adolescence, achievement goals, academic achievements, learning process, teacher, secondary school student

Look, smell and listen! Analysis of the relationship between material culture and sensual experience of children in the forest kindergarten.
Paterová, Markéta ; Ezzeddine, Petra (advisor) ; Bittnerová, Dana (referee)
This master thesis is based on a five-month research of a relationship between the children and material culture of a forest kindergarten. The main focus of the work is casted on the analysis of the significance of material objects during the children s information internalization by means of the sensual experience. The evocative role of concrete material items that are presented in everyday life of children in the forest kindergarten is shown in this thesis. The children senses are activated by material items and these items serve as an impulse for the children learning process. The work also contains an analysis of the important objects from the children s point of view. The conventional anthropological methods were used within the research in this master thesis - the participant observation in the forest kindergarten and the non-formal interviews with the kindergarten staff. Moreover, the picture analysis method was used to indentify the material items having an important role for the children in the forest kindergarten. The collected photodocumen- tation is employed to illustrate the specific environment and activities in the forest kindergarten. Keywords: forest kindergarten, material culture, sensual experience, learning process
