Influence of social networks on communication and culture

Má bakalářská práce je zaměřena na problematiku sociálních sítí a jejich vliv na dnešní společnost. Zabývá se jejich historií od prvotních pokusů až po nejnovější globální sociání sítě. Poté práce vysvětluje základní myšlenku vedoucí k vytvoření sociálních sítí i jejich charakteristické znaky. Dále nastiňuje problémy související se snadnou dostupností a nadměrným využíváním sociálních sítí, které následně ovlivňuje lidskou společnost. Práce se věnuje vlivu sociálních sítí na jazyk, mezilidskou komunikaci a kulturní adaptaci.

Methods of websites localization

Podniky se už dlouho snaží rozšířit své trhy do globálního měřítka. V počátcích mezinárodního obchodu bylo poměrně obtížné navazovat spojení mezi jednotlivými zeměmi kvůli nedostatku spolehlivých komunikačních systémů. Avšak situace se změnila, když se internet stal globálním zdrojem komunikace. Internet zavedl nový způsob prodeje výrobků a služeb pomocí webových stránek. Cílem této práce je rozšířit současné znalosti o lokalizaci webových stránek. V práci je definován proces lokalizace v rámci translatologie, její vznik a rozdíl mezi lokalizací a kulturní adaptací. Kromě toho se bakalářská práce popisuje klíčový metody lokalizace, se zabývá typickými chybami při lokalizaci a poskytuje doporučené postupy. Praktická část provádí analýzu lokalizace vybraných webových stránek s důrazem na jejich funkčnost. Výsledky práce by pomohly vývojářům a překladatelům lépe porozumět procesu lokalizace a vyhnout se chybám v budoucích projektech.

The Jesuit Missionary Policy of Adaptation in Japan under Alessandro Valignano

The aim of this thesis is to discuss the way of leading and managing the Jesuit Mission in Japan by Alessandro Valignano from 1579 to 1603. It focuses mainly on pioneering methods of this Jesuit missionary. Just his methods made the Japanese mission so successful, however, not for the eternity. Particularly it is about his attitude toward the Japanese culture and about a try to adapt both on this culture and on the general conditions. Despite the time Society of Jesus and especially some of its members, including Valignano, were incredibly flexible and capable to respond to the actual needs of the mission. That is why practical side of the mission - financing this project and the very first diplomatic contacts - will be also included in this thesis. Scientific and cultural assets of the Europeans will end the work.

Comparation of models of migration: Mexico and Czech Republic

This work aims to compare two models of migration, on the one hand, Czech migration to the capital city of Mexico on the other hand, Mexican migration to the capital city of Czech Republic. This text looks at migration as a cultural-social act, with its main protagonists, individual migrants. Therefore this work is not demographic, but anthropological based on qualitative research. With the background of basic sources it offers the monitoring of behavior of two groups of migrants, especially in their adaptation process. The basic research question then is: What is the process of cultural adaptation of the Czechs in Mexico, DF and Mexicans in Prague? To what extent are these models similar or different? Finding answers to this question necessarily leads to other topics, reply to completion, which are: How strong are the tendencies of development of ethnic communities? How respondents experienced the process of adaptation and changes of their identity? What strategies of living in the destination country they occupied? To what extent they communicate with compatriots and embassies? Methodology for website localization from the perspective of webdesign

Internet and websites are today one of the most important communication channels of almost all companies. They offer a simple, fast and effective way of communication, which is also available worldwide in a few seconds. With the globalization of market, more and more companies try to expand their business beyond the territory of the home state. In the current time of start-ups is the Internet also often a medium that allows formation of new spheres of business for which the website is absolutely essential channel. This type of business is internet based and has very often international ambitions from the very beginning. Given that each country (or region) can be seen as distinctive culture, it is advisable to locate websites for the needs of the foreign country. This is exactly the theme of this thesis. The concrete objective of this thesis is to offer a methodology for website localization in terms of webdesign. The basic building block is the delimitation of a multidisciplinary theoretical framework that examines the concept of culture and extensive literature review allowing current insight into the linking of website and culture, i.e. cultural website localization. Suitable method for gripping such a complex concept as a culture emerge from a theoretical framework as well. As the most appropriate method were determined Hofstedes cultural dimensions, which are then used for the analysis of cultural determination of web elements. Data collection for the purpose of analysis of web elements cultural determination is performed using a content analysis of websites from nine different countries. The results of the analysis are compared and synthesized with the findings stemming from a literature review. The final artifact of this thesis, a methodology for website localization from the perspective of web design, is based on this ground. Validation of the proposed methodology is done on the basis of assessment of the methodology for a domain of web design. This assessment is based on interviews with experts from different countries as well as presentation of concrete example of methodology use within a midsize website.

Acculturation of immigrants in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis deals with the process of acculturation of immigrants in the Czech Republic. The aim is to analyze the process of acculturation and its particular phases in case of foreigners with different nationalities and identify a possible tendency in ways they are able to integrate into the new society, including factors, which can possibly affect this process. Outcomes of the thesis are concrete recommendations for immigration authorities in the Czech Republic and determination of acculturation strategy, which is characteristic for immigrants.
