A pilot validation of Hofstede's original 4 dimensional cultural model and its marketing implications from the perspective of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland

The research hopes to provide a deeper understanding of the leading countries in the Central Eastern Europe (CEE) region from a culture sensitive marketing perspective. The aim of this work is to provide a pilot study upon which more critical national culture studies are to be introduced.The purpose of this dissertation is four-fold: 1) To discuss the proper methodology for the research; 2) to replicate the original study in order to suggest the values for the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia; 3) to introduce the marketing application theoretical framework for the original study, and 4) to translate the results to marketing scholars and practitioners.
Business plan of an organization providing education through culture

Theoretical part of this master thesis describes the structure of musical education system, importance of music in education, opportunities for organization based in the field of education through culture, and the main parts of a successful business plan. In practical part of this thesis the author proposes a model of organization providing educational music shows for children in nursery schools. This part of the work includes a marketing analysis for the model organization as well as marketing and financial plan. The final part describes conditions under which the model organization would function successfully.
Valuation of Allowance Organization – the Municipal Library of Prague

This master's thesis focuses on the valuation of the Municipal Library in Prague, the cultural institution allowances organization. Its aim is to estimate the value up for the date of 31th October 2013 for the purpose of its founder, Prague - the capital city, and to compare the measured value with the level of annual non-capital contribution for the Municipal Library from its founder. The valuation was performed by using the contingent valuation method, which is based on random sample of the questionnaire survey respondents who express their preferences. They are gradually guided to be able to provide the maximum price that they would be willing to pay for use of services and to be able to work out what financial compensation they would be willing to accept for the decrease in their quality life. The starting point of this thesis is to determine the prognosis of the number of registered readers, borrowings, economy of the Municipal Library, its market position and other requisites. This thesis is one of the few which contains valuation in the cultural sector in the Czech Republic.
The socioeconomic analysis of the town Jičín with emphasis on cultural an social life

The thesis is focuses on socioeconomic analysis of the town Jičín, with emphasis on cultural and social life in the town and on other potential possibilities of town development. The aim of this thesis is to define a potential of the artificial fairytale tradition, which is associated with the town, to catch its social and financial contribution to the town as well to the entrepreneurial subjects. The thesis analyses financial and non-monetary effects of cultural actions and suggests options of further development of cultural activities. The thesis finds out, that the man-made tradition of the town, as the town of fairytales brings Jičín and big local business entity mainly non -- monetary benefits in the form of higher social and ethical prestige. However, small businesses, especially those located where cultural events take place, benefit financially in a form of more customers and higher revenues. The thesis concludes that the realization of suggested development opportunities would utilise more of the fairytale potential of the town and would bring higher financial and non--monetary benefits.
Performance, management and financing of the Prague State Opera after its merger with the Opera of the National Theatre

The work compares available pieces of information about the management of the National Theatre and the Prague State Opera before and after the merger. The work does not aim to formulate final conclusions about the merger, as this extensive process is only in its early stages of development. The aim is to organize unsorted information about opera sphere in Prague, to analyse results achieved so far, to create a comparison with the previous status, and conclude author's own assessment of the direction of the transformation process. The merger is examined from several perspectives. Firstly, the author surveys the economic results and indicators in the long term horizon and interprets them in terms of the organizations themselves, but also in context of the cultural sector and public finance of the Czech Republic. The author draws information on the economic situation mainly from secondary documents, such as annual reports, management conceptions and also internal documents that were provided to the author by economic department of the National Theatre. In addition to economic impacts, the author also looks at other aspects of the merger, which are more qualitative -- such as dramaturgy or changes concerning employees. The author has received primary information for this purpose through personal interviews with current or former employees. In conclusion, the author presents the intentions of the institutions' leadership, as well as its visions for the near future.
Financing of transformed and private theatres from public budgets

The theoretical part focuses on financing options from theatres from public sources. It deals with resources from the budget of Municipality of the City of Prague, as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. This list is then transferred to the practical part, which deals with the use of these options in Prague's Archa Theatre, which has long maintained the highest rating among theatres in Prague and top position among alternative theatres in the country. The work does not aim to assess the effectiveness of the current grant system or criticize the system of financing culture in the country. The aim is to create a list of potential funding sources for a theatre from public budgets and assess the effectiveness of the acquisition of these resources to the Archa Theatre. The work also deals with the management of Archa compared with the Municipal Theatre Jablonec nad Nisou.

The subject of this thesis is the foreign policy and diplomacy of Japan. Aim of this work is to identify the specifics of Japanese diplomacy and determination of their cultural values. Then the aim is also assessment of the degree of influence of cultural determinants on specific features of Japan's diplomacy.
The thoughts and behaviors of the Vietnamese entrepreneurs about the economical market

This bachelor thesis is going to mention about the development of the Vietnamese economy; a general analysis and evaluation the situation of Vietnamese business people in both domestic and foreign markets as well as how traditional culture affects their business decision making. This work will go through two main parts. The first one is theoretical, which provides not just basic information about Vietnam and its culture aspect but also some certain suggestions while communicating and doing business with Vietnamese people. During this part we are going to talk about the way how Vietnamese people think about the market; which are their favorite industries which not with the reasons behind and their motivation in doing business. The second part will be the practical part which covering the analysis of the survey research and the results received.
Business and cultural specifics of Albania

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to explain the specifics of Albania in the business and cultural area, also helpful for business and tourism. The first chapter introduces Albania as a country located in Southeastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. This chapter mentions its natural conditions, history, and population. Also important is the knowledge of the economic situation of the country, religion, and individual economic sectors. The second chapter analyzes the foreign trade of Albania, its major trading partners, Albania's membership in international organizations, and the question of entry into the EU. The chapter also deals with mutual relations between the Czech Republic and Albania. Following this chapter is a subchapter with a questionnaire survey conducted among companies in the Czech Republic. The aim of the investigation was to determine whether the companies are aware of Albania, or are interested in business cooperation. The third and final chapter discusses the Albanian culture and its impact on business. Finally, the darker sides of this country are mentioned, including organized crime and child labour.
Intercultural communication and cooperation: the Czechs and French

This master's thesis deals with the encounter of two cultures - Czech and French, and its goal is to "identify Czech-French cultural standards and draw practical advice and recommendations for communication and cooperation." The first chapter explains the most important terms affecting the subject in theory. The next chapter introduces France and applies the foundations created in the previous chapter. The third and fourth chapters are devoted to my own research, which was carried out by using the methods of critical situations and is based on in-depth interviews with members of both cultures. Their testimonies are then used to establish standards, the main points in which the Czechs and French differ and to make advice on how to work with these differences.
