"Some trees flourish, others die?": Opportunities and Problems of the Video game Canon
BRIXÍ, Václav
The paper attempts to enter current discussions related to the perception of video games as art. The thesis will focus primarily on the emergence of the video game canon, and will trace the evolution of this entertainment industry towards an increasingly institutionalised reception and evaluation of video games. This development will be examined both in academic context, with attention paid, for example, to the emergence of university departments and scholarly monographs on the history of video games. At the same time, the author will focus on non-academic strategies of value creation, such as the operation of the The Game Awards event, or the efforts to establish a normative genre-based system of video game creation and evaluation by game developers, journalists, and emerging critics. Methodologically, the thesis will draw on the theory of the canon of other arts, with particular attention to the development of the film canon as an example of the establishment of a new art and its institutionalization during the 20th century.

Stylized 3D rendering
Jenikovský, Daniel ; Kudělka, Vladimír (referee) ; Vaněk, Vojtěch (advisor)
In my work I create a specific technical solution for creating stylized rendering. Rendering mimics the visuals of 90's games, but I add advanced visual effects to their pixel visuals, common to today's titles. It is created for a specific group project - a game, but it is also possible to use it independently of this project and thus implement it (or its parts) into other future projects.

Master's thesis "Comparison of popularly educational weekly youth magazines Mladý Hlasatel and Vpřed in 1930s through 1950s" contrasts two youth titles that were published around the WWII. Both titles, connected not only through the editor and father-like figure Jaroslav Foglar, were immensely popular in their time and constitute the phenomenon of journalism for children of that era. This master's thesis follows my bachelor thesis "Mladý Hlasatel and it's authors" describing history, authors and specifics of this magazine. Master's thesis adds comparably detailed information about the magazine Vpřed, but its main objective is to compare the titles published in "free" era before the WWII and after it, and the ones that were published during the limited freedom of the press during the war and after the year 1948. This work seeks not only to compare the content, authors and information in both magazines, but also to comprehend the contemporary context of that era, observe the impact of ideological and political influences, as well as describe different...
