The Process of Deinstitutionalization and Development of Community Social Services

The master thesis deals with the theme deinstitutionalization of residential social services and its transformation into community social services provided in natural community. The aim of this thesis is to describe basic principles of community social work, evaluation and importance of deinstitutionalization process nowadays and ascertain how social workers from residential social services in South Bohemian Region perceive deinstitutionalization of social work and how much they are aware of this matter. Theoretical part is focused on delimitation of basic terms related to the theme. It briefly describes residential social services in Czech Republic, transformation of social services, its causes and development in Czech Republic and foreign countries. This part of the thesis characterizes deinstitutionalization of social work services, advantages, disadvantages, risks and restraint of deinstitutionalization process and last but not least community social work and development of community social services. The practical part contains description of quantitative research realized by questioning method using online questionnaire, analysis and evaluation of dates and findings from questionnaire research. The research shows that social workers from residential social services consider deinstitutionalization of social services as positive process and important part of social services reform and that social workers have great awareness of this matter. However, they still want to know more about deinstitutionalization of social services. This thesis should not just serve as source of theoretical information about deinstitutionalization of social services, but it should represent a mean to raise awareness of importance and opportunities of deinstitutionalization of social services and utilization of community social services in social services transformation.
Selected Central European left-wing political parties in the context of the institutionalization theory

This diploma thesis deals with problematics regarding the theory of institutionalization and its application on certain political subjects in Central Europe. The thesis is based on multi-case study which analyses two political parties - Slovak SMER-SD and Czech ČSSD, using political science concept of institutionalization. The main objective is to analyse both parties since their foundation and to obtain results regarding these theoretical questions: 1) Is the strong institutionalization the main reason for longevity of social democratic parties? 2) What are the similarities and differences between each political party in level of their institutionalization? The thesis uses theories of institutionalization by Robert Harmel, Lars Svåsand and Hilmar Mjelde to acquire answers to these questions. Theories of institutionalization are then supplemented by Jakub Stauber's criteria; each dimension of the theory is further elaborated. At first, both political systems are introduced in which concerned parties operate, then the thesis follows up with approach of selected authors towards theory of institutionalization. Lastly, the thesis focuses on the research itself and inspection and comparison of final results.
New political parties from the point of view of the theory of institutionalization: the case of the Public Affairs

This thesis examines the formation and stabilization of genuinely new political parties in the Czech Republic through the theory of institutionalization. In the theoretical part the theory of institutionalization, which serves as a basis for the analytical framework, is firstly introduced. Institutionalization is understood as a process that occurs in four dimensions and can be strengthened or weakened over time. There are mentioned main approaches to the classification of new political parties, focusing on category of genuinely new political parties in the following chapter. These parties come to party system as external actors, so they represent suitable cases for examining the impact of their electoral gains at the rate of institutionalization. The next section is dedicated to development of the Czech party system with regard to the increasing success of genuinely new political parties. For a detailed analysis of the examined phenomenon a case study of political party Public Affairs has been chosen, because it represents case of genuinely new party which has achieved a relevant position in the party system due to the first candidacy in the first-order election. Patterns of Institutionalization of Political Parties in the Czech Republic

Research on political parties and their organizational stability presents one of the most important research agendas in modern comparative politics. Especially among newly democratized countries of the Central and Eastern Europe, the consolidation of democratic political institutions used to be considered as a key factor for the successful finishing of the whole transitional process. Despite the fact that most of the transitologists optimistically perceived the consolidation of the new democracies as a one-way process, the most of party systems in the eastern countries experienced serious changes and periods of instability within the last ten years. The most notable change was definitely the unexpected electoral success of genuinely new political parties and movements usually led by a political entrepreneur and formed without solid organizational background or solid ties to society. This tendency further turned into a new wave of unpredictability even within the party systems commonly perceived as fully stabilized and consolidated. Srovnání postavení metropolitních oblastí v regionální politice ČR a Francie

The diploma thesis deals with comparing metropolitan areas in the Czech Republic and France. The aim of this thesis is evaluate by a comparative analysis the position of metropolitan areas in regional policy of the countries mentioned above. The comparison is based on analysis of expert texts and with help of four evaluation criteria (state support, local support, territorial classification, topics solve within metropolitan areas). The comparison showed that in regional policy of Czech Republic are metropolitan areas included considerably weak, in compare of situation of metropolitan areas in regional policy of France. This fact is explained by absence of state interest. Due to the high fragmentation of settlement system, not too long support of municipal cooperation is not helpful for this situation. From the point of view of territorial classification are disunity in demarcation of metropolitan areas, or overall interest in its creation only from EU´s pressure assessed as negative. Next, the level of institutionalization in term of improved the position of metropolitan areas in Czech regional policy is assessed. From the findings about metropolitan governance in France and in other European countries it was possible to construct the suggestions of institutionalization metropolitan areas in Czech Republic.
Irregular Migration in the Mediterranean Sea: The Role of Europol and European Migrant Smuggling Centre

This bachelor thesis deals with the role of Europol and the EMSC in solving the migration crisis in the Mediterranean. As a result of the rising number of migrants arriving to Europe, crime rate has increased, mainly smuggling of illegal migrants, which required swift and effective actions by European institutions and agencies. This study uses the theory of new institutionalism which reflects the interest in the study of institutions that have a significant impact on formation of attitudes and behavior of institutional stakeholders. The aim is to analyze the process of institutionalization among the European stakeholders in response to the migration crisis from 2015 till 2019. The process of institutionalization includes political debates by EU officials and documents issued by the European Commission that have contributed to the reorganization within Europol and emergence of new platforms. By analyzing these individual steps, the thesis aims to present the role of individual institutional elements in dealing with criminal activities related to illegal migration and how these elements ensure security within the European area.
