The concept of education according to St. Augustine
Pecková, Alžběta ; Rybák, David (advisor) ; Pelcová, Naděžda (referee)
The bachelor's thesis on The Concept of Education according to St. Augustine focuses on the analysis of Augustine's ideas concerning education and upbringing within the methodological framework of the history of philosophy. The thesis examines Augustine's view of what is the meaning of education and education. In this context, Augustine's thought is strongly influenced primarily by Plato's philosophy and, of course, by the philosophical and theological tradition that followed. We will trace this context in which Augustine is situated, and also the way in which he builds on earlier sources, especially Plato's idea of education as a bringing to ideas and the motive of anamnesis. We will use this comparison to characterize Augustine's thinking on education more generally, with key themes being the relationship between education and religion, the role of the teacher in the educational process, and the importance of love and truth, example and the individual approach to education. Augustine's writings On the Teacher, Christian Education, and the Confessions will be the primary textual sources.
Kutná Hora Antiphonary from the prague workshop of Valentine Noh of Jindřichův Hradec
Kořenková, Nikola ; Kubík, Viktor (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
The goal of this work is a monographic treatment of the Kutná Hora Antiphonary (Prague, NK XXIII A 2) from 1470-1471 in the context of the Prague workshop of Valentine Noh of Jindřichův Hradec. Its creator belongs to the generation of illuminators who helped to integrate, transform and overcome the heritage of the beautiful style tradition. The newly emerging style system significantly influenced book painting of the second half of the 15th century and the early 16th century. The work is based mostly on a combination of formal and iconographic analysis. The outcome of this work should be a refinement of the information on decoration and a summary assessment of the significance of the Kutná Hora Antiphonary for the development of book painting in our territory in the 2nd half of the 15th century and the early 16th century.

The presented dissertation thesis called " Německý Brod graduale by Paul Melnik in 1506" is bound to my bachelor thesis, which also dealt with manuscript from the Paul of Melnik's workshop. The introduction of the thesis summarizes the already existing literature on the topic (Chap. 1). Then the following chapters are focused on the illuminator of the studied graduale (Chap. 2.1); they are also engaged in the questionable issues of provenance and dating the graduale, which is allegedly dated in 1506, however, the illumination contained in it rather refers to the graphic analogy (ies) of A. Dürer, which was (were) issued not earlier than in 1511 (Chap. 2.2). The thesis also includes a chapter which is dedicated to the donator of the manuscript (Chap. 3.1). Moreover, there are emphasized problems of literary fraternity and art of Utraquism in Bohemia as well (Chap. 3.3). The chapter 3.2 tries to summarize the works of the illuminator Paul of Melnik, and also to describe his artistic character. The last chapters are devoted to the decoration of the graduale and to possible analogies within the illuminations (Chap. 4).

Kopecká, Pavlína ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
This thesis interprets the concept of human being in the work of Maimonides and ibn Rushd, two representatives of major Arab and Jewish medieval philosophy. It combines the ancient Greek philosophical tradition, especially Aristotle, with a religious context. When Maimonides and Ibn Rushd tried to harmonize these two traditions, they had to deal with many opposite views, that stemmed from the difference between religious and ancient world. Behind this intellectual ground have they created the original thesis and approaches to grasping reality, the world and the human being in it. The issue of human being is analyzed in three levels. The first level consists of the relationship between human being and creation, which addresses the question about origin of the world the human soul and the resurrection. The second level, i.e. the man and the world, is devoted to describing a scheme of the world, human knowledge and the theory of prophecy. Ethical and political views are analyzed on the third level, which represents the position of human being in relation to the polis. Keywords Ibn Rushd, Maimonides, Aristotle, Plato, neoplatonism, philosophy, religion, The Koran, Torah, human being, world, creation, eternity, soul, resurrection, emanation, knowledge, illumination, active intellect, prophecy, politics,...

Graduals from the Workshop of Jan Táborský of Klokotská Hora
Součková, Ema ; Royt, Jan (advisor) ; Brodský, Pavel (referee) ; Hlaváčková, Jana Hana (referee)
The dissertation focuses on the decoration of 16th century choral manuscripts. The first part is devoted to the person of Jan Táborský of Klokotská Hora (1499-1572) who was a scribe and an owner of a scribe manufactory, and to the most significant illuminators of the the 16th century who contributed to the decoration of songbooks in the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. Attention is given not only to the illuminators to whom Jan Táborský of Klokotská Hora assigned the work and whose contribution can be inferred from the documents or stylistic analysis of their illuminations, but also to their contemporaries. Besides the frequently mentioned Fabián Puléř, we can assume that Jan Taborský also collaborated with Matouš Ornys of Lindperk, Matyáš Hutský of Křivoklát, Ambrož Ledecký and, presumably, others. In this context, one part of the thesis is focused on engravings by Martin Schongauer, Albrecht Dürer, Bernard Salomon and on the domestic prints by George Melantrich the Elder, as these engravings, mostly woodcuts, served as patterns and inspiration for almost every Bohemian illuminator. Themes found in this type of manuscript are mostly based on Biblical stories, corresponding to the feasts of the liturgical year. In addition to these themes, the graduals contain many miniatures associated with various...
