Global Developing Education for Primary School Students.

This thesis deals with global development education and how it is implemented in the education of students in the first grade of primary school. The aim of the theoretical part is to define global issues and globalization, as well as related basic concepts, principles, and goals of global development education. This part contains a description of the current status of global education and focuses on the application of global education to education generally. It introduces international and Czech organizations working in this field and describes related documents. The next part is devoted to individual cross- cutting themes, key competences and their characterisation. It focuses on their close links to global education. Emphasis is placed on the areas that are developed in students and on the actual benefits of integrating global education into education. The aim of the practical part is to design methodological worksheets that will help integrate global development education topics into the teaching of students in the first grade of primary school. The topic of the diploma thesis is development education in teaching geography. The main objective of this thesis is to create author's own design of teaching activities focused on development education in teaching geography at the 2nd level of primary schools. The presented thesis consists of two parts, the theoretical part and the practical part based on it. The theoretical part is primarily focused on defining basic terminology, it introduces main starting points, principles, objectives, topics and methods of DE. Furthermore, the author deals with the importance and position of DE in selected European countries. She focuses in more detail on the field of education in the Czech Republic and the main curricular documents. The practical part of the work contains three teaching activities, including the principles and topics of DE, through which the students are acquainted with selected global problems of today's world. The individual activities are briefly introduced in the introductory part, followed by the methodological structure and possibly the implementation of the activity in practice.
Controversial Issues as a Part of Education in Primary Schools

This diploma thesis focuses on dealing with controversial issues in primary schools. The main aim of this work is to find out why it is appropriate to integrate these issues into teaching, whether it is even possible for primary school pupils to deal with them and how these topics can be taught and integrated. The theoretical part begins by defining the term controversial issue, then it is devoted to developmental presupposition of primary school children for dealing with controversial issues, then how these issues relate to Citizenship and Global Education, and which methods can be used for dealing with controversial issues. School Management and Implementing of Global Developing Education into Teaching

The final bachelor paper deals with Global Developing Education and its level of integration in different kinds of schools' curriculum. Therefore it is based on the definition of Global Developing Education, basic documents (Národní strategie Globálního rozvojového vzdělávání pro období 2011-2015) and a panel discussion on this topic. In its research part the paper brings information on how the school stuff managers are familiarized with this topic and whether they are involved somehow. The found out data could bring advice for managers who are unfamiliar with above mentioned, reveal problems of integration. As well as help to clarify this issue and move the topic into the centre of school management's interest.
Globální rozvojové vzdělávání v českých školách

This bachelors thesis examines the educational processes, global education. The aim of this paper is to convey the experiences of lecturers from the non-profit organization ADRA with programs targeting global education. The first theoretical chapter provides the definitions of the basic concepts and describes the main principles and goals of global education. Next, the main areas of study are examined, concentrating on the ways in which these are being incorporated into the curricula across Czech educational institutions. This thesis introduces the most prominent organisations and institutions in the Czech Republic, focusing on the non-profit organization ADRA. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter on the evaluation of global education in the CR by the Czech Inspectorate of Education. Through an analysis of data obtained from interviews with lecturers from Opravdový svět, the practical part examines the lecturers motivation as well as their contribution and position with the students over the course of the class. The analysis also serves to illuminate the lecturers perspective on the overall climate of global education in the CR. Throughout the evaluation, the possible pitfalls and difficulties are stressed and discussed.
Studentské stáže v rozvojových zemích jako metoda globálního rozvojového vzdělávání

This thesis deals with innovation possibilities of scholarly internships in developing countries which are hold by Faculty of regional development and international studies at Mendel University in Brno. Following this, the author defined the objective to create a model development project for the needs of a specific community in Nicaragua, with a focus on the problems of polluted water. Using the survey was then verified assumptions and possibilities of innovated student internships implementation. Questionnaire results and processed model project were subsequently used as the basis for creating innovation proposals for the current internship system. Proposals include mainly elements of long-term and continuity in the work of students in these internships, furthermore the possibility to penetrate deeper into the real problems of certain communities and increase the level of student´s improvement suggestions being effectively implemented.
Position of Global Education in Primary School

This diploma thesis focuses on Global Development Education (GDE) and its position in education at primary school. The main aims of this work are to find out why it is important to integrate global development issues in education, what are primary school kids preconditions for working with global issues and how can teachers integrate global issues to education. The theoretical part of the thesis begins with definition of GDE, then it is devoted its specifics in primary school education, its place in curricular documents and how it is integrated into education. In empiric part, GDE is investigated by questionnaire survey and interviews if the topics of GDE are incorporated into education, how often and what is the reason for this integration.

The thesis is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part is made on the basis of the literature covering topic of DE. The practical part describes the schooling concept, which is including the DE into formal education.
Globalization and selected global issues in social studies at high schools

The aim of this thesis is to introduce the theme of globalization and global issues as a topic of school education. There will be a didactic analysis of this topic in relation with the content of Civil and Social Sciences and the cross-curricular theme Education for Thinking in the European and Global Context at secondary grammar school. The theoretical part briefly defines globalization and explains the necessary sociological terms, such as global poverty, global unemployment and consumerism. There is also a chapter on global education in schools and on researches on understanding of globalization. The practical part explains the methodology of qualitative research and the method of in-depth interview of the semi-structured type serving as the basis of this work. Then, it presents the results of the research conducted on students' understanding realized with the secondary grammar school students. Finally, it gives recommendations for school education based on these results.
