Neural and Genetic Basis of Epilepsy

This thesis describes neural and genetic basis of epilepsy, addresses the distribution of epileptic sezuries, which genes affect epilepsy and the connection between epilepsy and the nervous system. The thesis is based on data collection from scientific books, partly from data published by hospitals. Its focus is getting from the general expressions to the cellular level of the problem, which is necessary to clarify the epileptic principles. It also deals with the genetic nature of epilepsy, as it is with the inheritance of the disease and deals in more detail with early infantile epileptic. The beginning of work is about basic information of epilepsy. Next, it looks into the mechanisms that influence the emergence of epilepsy. Continues to look at the structures in the brain associated with epilepsy. And at the end, it deels with genetic nature of epilepsy. A brochure was created for this work, where basic information about epilepsy can be found, first aid for an epileptic seizure and early infantile epileptic encephalopathy is discussed in paragraphs.

Educational Specifics of Children with Epilepsy

The thesis titled Educational Specifics of Children with Epilepsy aims to find out what are the specifics of education of children with epilepsy. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the characteristics of epilepsy, contains information about epilepsy and epileptic seizure, it deals with etiology of epilepsy, classification of epileptic and non epileptic seizures. It deals with the provocative factors of epileptic seizure and informs about the possibilities of treating this disease. The diploma thesis further outlines the current topic of today, and this is the education of children with epilepsy in the family and especially at school. In the thesis one can read about the issues of family education and healthy siblings of a child with disabilities, as well as some prejudices that an individual with epilepsy can encounter today. The work highlights the educational specifics of the education of children with epilepsy and does not forget to mention the legislative framework and the possibilities of education. It explains the support measures and the concept of inclusion. In the practical part, it contains the questions and the objectives that have been answered by qualitative research. The Social View of the Impact of Epilepsy on Adult

The thesis "The social view of the impact of epilepsy on adults" is focusing on the specification of psychosomatic factors that are influencing the life of an adult with epilepsy. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the theoretical part, the disease epilepsy, diagnostic, therapy and treatment are defined, a fit of epilepsy is classified, and moreover, the first aid during the epileptic fit is described. Another part of the thesis is dedicated to description of some areas of life of the adult with epilepsy, which are bringing certain limitations to everyday life. This includes the family life and also problematic of professional life and possible job restrictions. These areas are described with regards to influences of lifestyle, medication, sleeping habits and leisure time activities on the life of a person with epilepsy. The thesis also focus on the problematic of social stigmatization, social isolation and on the list of possible psychological changes and cognitive problems of people with epilepsy, that occurs as a result of this diagnosis.
