Bachelor thesis consists of an evaluation of the current state of the organization People in Need using process analysis and financial analysis. The main activity of People in Need is humanitarian and development aid abroad. The organization works in countries all over the world, mainly in regions that are affected by poverty and natural disasters or other kinds of catastrophes. Theoretical part of the thesis was conducted using a documentary analysis of available resources about non-profit organizations, about their position in a national economy, about their financing and typology. Practical part of the thesis focuses on every part of the process analysis, each one is evaluated thoroughly. Possible problems and threats for the organization were proposed after the analysis was evaluated. Recommendations for the management of the organization were formulated based on the found threats. These recommendations can serve for further planning and decision making.

EU democracy promotion in contemporary sub- Saharan Africa: the case study of South Sudan

Democracy promotion aims to force or encourage a foreign state to become more democratic. This includes direct democracy assistance, or direct financial aid or training to the electoral arena, government and civil society, but also rhetorical commitments, political gestures, information dissemination, sanctions, conditionality and through "soft power" - cultural ties and their significance in promoting European values. The Diploma Thesis EU democracy promotion in contemporary sub-Saharan Africa: the case study of South Sudan examines these strategies as they were used by EU actors in democracy promotion in South Sudan. South Sudan is the youngest country in the world, and the EU, both in terms of EU institutions and member states has aided the country in its uneasy development to become a democratic state. How EU actors attempted to accomplish this, and how have these strategies changed between 2011 and 2020 is the focus of the research. The thesis comes to the conclusion, that the EU used a top- down approach, engaging more with government and other state institutions than with civil society. It also focused on developing good governance and rule of law, together with enhancing socio-economic sectors. The sources and the donors of the development aid are described; special attention has been paid to the international organisations, to the European Union and to the development aid provided by France and the Czech Republic. The aim of this thesis is to present the critical state of Education in former French colonies in Africa and the effort to solve the situation made by international organizations and France in particular. The main sources of information are the international studies and evaluation reports elaborated by the expert teams of the United Nations and the World Bank, together with direct personal experience made in the described countries. Kosovo issue and czech foreign policy

The Bachelor Thesis The Kosovar Issue and Czech Foreign Policy deals with three main aspects of the relations between the Czech Republic and The Republic of Kosovo: diplomatic and political aspect, mutual economic relations aspect and the Czech development aid. Centerpiece of the thesis predominantly consists of the mutual relations from the end of the war in Kosovo until now. The thesis examines the development of the mutual relations on the background of the historical events, that where direct movers of the Kosovar history. Thereafter are laid out the key moments, that where shaping the bilateral relations between the two states. The text analyzes the Czech foreign policy; its main goals were to stabilize the situation in Kosovo after the war and the active participation from the position of an NATO ally and EU candidate - potential future member. The thesis also examines the efforts of the private subjects interested in mutual trade, furthermore the efforts on the national level and evaluates its effectiveness. The thesis leads to the conclusion, that the evolution of the Czech-Kosovar relations in all examined aspects has surprisingly progressive nature, despite the dismissive stance, held by part of the Czech political representation. Regional distribution of development aid in Cambodia Abstract This bachelor thesis, examines development aid distribution in Cambodia, specifically focused on the distribution and allocation of development projects that target reproductive health and education. Within the introduction, the history and current situation in Cambodia is presented, followed by a discussion of current approaches to development aid. The reproductive health and education issues will also be examined as well as the continuing discourse of development aid allocation. The research analyses the relationship between development interventions and reproductive health or education indicators on provincial level. The main outcome in Cambodia's development aid only highlights the distribution of aid with regard to the level of development in several cases; allocation of aid is mostly influenced by other factors rather than recipient need. Problems and perspectives of development aid: donors and developing countries

The aim of this thesis called 'Problems and perspectives of development aid: donors and developing countries' are main questions of development aid in general. Basic ideas of the whole concept are defined in the first chapter. The history of development aid and international theories' perspectives of development aid are mentioned here. The second chapter consists of classifications and characteristics of developing countries together with their capacities for integration. The donors are presented in the third chapter. The main part of the thesis is the fourth chapter in which the problems of development aid are analysed on the grounds of contemporary field literature. At the beginning of the fourth chapter the qualitative problems of development aid are analysed together with the donors' motivations for its distribution. The best possible form of development aid is discussed later on - whether it is better to provide developing countries with loans or non-repayable grants. Moreover, the coordination problems within the development aid are discussed as well as possible alternatives to development aid - such as trade. The thesis pays also attention to negative consequences of development aid. Possible solutions to the problems mentioned are sketched within each sub-chapter.

Effectiveness of Danish development aid to Ghana

Diploma thesis "Effectiveness of Danish development aid to Ghana" deals with effectiveness of Danish development aid which is defined in close relation to the concept of sustainable development. The chosen approach for analysis is empirical-analytical methodology. The thesis starts with analysing Danish development concepts in order to point out the size of influence of the main actors of Danish development aid during procedure of their creation. Forementioned analysis is followed by comparison of the main principles of the concept of sustainable development and important objectives of analysed Danish concepts. This part is important for giving reader the main links between chosen concept of sustainable development and Danish development strategies. Final part of the thesis measures the aid effectiveness of Danish strategies for Ghana, based on Joint Evaluation findings with particular interest in health sector. The effectiveness is measured on the basis of sustainable criterion, which is related to seven factors of the sustainable development.

The Role of France and the USA in Battling Instability in Mali and Niger in the Years 2005-2014

The Sahel is one of the most unstable and underdeveloped region of the world. In Niger and Mali situation worsened after the year 2011 because of of the political vacuum, emerged after the overthrow of Gaddafi. Among basic problems of Mali and Niger, causing instability, can be named poverty, security troubles (uncontrolled extensive borders, terrorism), ethnic conflicts and misgovernance. This paper is concentrated on the US and French activities in solving those problems. The aim of the paper is thus defining of the basic problems causing instability of Niger and Mali, and analyse military and development aid aimed at solving those problems by the USA and France in years 2005-2014.

Development and migration policy as instruments of contemporary Turkish geopolitics

One of the countries that has enjoyed great international interest in recent years is Turkey. The long period of passive foreign policy oriented primarily towards the West has been replaced in recent years by a very active foreign policy focused on its own region. Turkey has included new instruments and activities in its foreign policy that are more in line with the position of the Middle Power. Two of the foreign policy instruments that have become important in Turkey include development aid and migration policy, or more precisely its response to refugee crises. This is also due to the fact that, as a result of the Syrian crisis, Turkey currently hosts more than three million refugees on its territory. The main goal of this thesis is to analyze the changes in Turkey's migration and development policy in the context of its overall foreign policy, as well as the way in which these issues are used to increase its soft power. The more general goal is to try to use the findings to enrich the Two-Good Theory with soft power tools. The Two-Good Theory attempts to explain the behavior of states in terms of their inclination towards maintaining status quo or changing the status quo in different areas of international relations.
