The world organic market and the position of the Czech Republic in this market
Novotný, Ondřej ; Gullová, Soňa (advisor) ; Klosová, Anna (referee)
The paper analyses the state of the world's bio product market and the Czech Republic's position in the market. It discusses basic bio product market information and its historic roots. The paper examines in detail the production and consumption of bio products, especially bio-eatables in the carefully selected array of sample countries. The section focusing on the Czech Republic demonstrates the structural and consumer development of bio products. Additionally, the Czech market is then compared with the world market and the factors that affect the production and consumption are highlighted. The examination of the raw data from both the world and the Czech market supports the first hypothesis that there is an increasing growth pattern in the bio product market worldwide. Second hypothesis focusing on the demand for bio products in the Czech market was not affirmed after careful scrutiny of the Czech bio product market. With regards to the elevated bio product prices and consumer's distrust in their quality, the bio product demand in the recent years had suffered from a decreasing trend.

Podešva, Jiří ; Koubek, Ivo (advisor) ; van Koten, Silvester (referee)
The per capita consumption of beer in the Czech Republic is one of the biggest in the world. However, in recent years the consumption has started to decrease. This thesis analyzes determinants of demand of beer and possible causes of decreasing of beer consumption. The whole market is analyzed using the time series models. In the next step, the market was separated into on-trade and off-trade part. No previous researches have dealt with this division. It was proved, that wine is a substitute of the on-trade beer, but a complement of the off-trade beer. On-trade beer is an ordinary good and if the price increases by one Czech crown, the consumption will decrease by 5 %. Spirits are complements of on-trade beer. No impact caused by price on the consumption of off-trade beer was proved. During the analysis of off-trade beer was found out, that the beer is the gross substitute of wine and that the good weather makes its consumption to increase. The future prediction for 2014 suggests that average person will consume 57,5 liters of on-trade beer.

Why Does the Instant Food Consumption Decline? Analysis of Demand Determinants
Pazdera, Martin ; Koubek, Ivo (advisor) ; Špecián, Petr (referee)
There has been a significant decline in instant food market. I investigate the determinants of demand for instant food in this thesis. Oligopoly market structure motivates me to investigate the demand for instant food produced by particular firm. I use yearly and quarterly scanner data for instant food sales on the retail market in Czech Republic in the empirical part of the thesis. The yearly data analysis finds healthy diet trend as a possible cause of instant food market decline. According to quarterly data analysis I find instant food as an inferior good with income elasticity -0,6295. Both these factors can affect stagnant or decreasing revenues of instant food producers. Analysis of demand for instant food produced by particular firm illustrates strong relation between demanded quantity of producer's instant food and prices of his own and competing production. This indicates that price increase is not an optimal strategy in order to stabilize revenues of instant food producer.
