Šilpochová, Daniela ; Hyánková, Tereza (advisor) ; Ondráček, Vojtěch (referee)
This thesis is focused on the analysis of three chosen civics textbooks for the 6th grade of primary school from the perspective of gender. The aim was to find out, using qualitative and quantitative content analysis, whether or not women and men are depicted in gender stereotyped roles and in what numbers they are represented. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is dedicated to explaining the concepts of sex and gender, gender socialisation, gender in the school environment and gender in language. The practical part is dedicated to the analysis of the textbooks. As a result of the analysis, it is found that in all textbooks women are significantly outnumbered by men. However, the gender correctness of the textbooks increases over time. KEYWORDS gender, gender roles, gender stereotypes, textbook, civics, school

Sametová revoluce v dnešním kurikulu základní školy
NEKOLOVÁ, Lucie
The subject of this thesis was the Velvet Revolution in the contemporary Czech primary school curriculum. I dealt with the analysis of textbooks of history and civics and their subsequent comparison in regard to their approach to the topic of the Velvet Revolution. In the theoretical part, I focused on the objective analysis of the Velvet Revolution and events that preceded the revolution as well as those that accompanied the emergence of a new democratic Czechoslovakia. Nor did I neglect to include the notable personalities of this period and oppositional activities connected with the Velvet Revolution. In the practical part I proceeded to carry out an analysis of textbooks. For each subject I chose textbooks from three publishers. First, I did a comprehensive analysis of the textbooks and then dealt with the Velvet Revolution. In history classes, students only study this subject in the 9th grade. Therefore, I exclusively analyzed these textbooks. History textbooks accord the topic a different number of pages as well as an unequal number of accompanying images. Also, information varies about the key figures associated with the Velvet Revolution. Civics textbooks do not contain a separate chapter dealing with this topic. I had to look at the textbooks for the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grade, and search for the information associated with the period. The information presented to students varies from grade to grade and by publisher. Finally, I carried out a comparison of the textbooks of civics and history.

Citizenship - Theoretical Bases and Teaching Practice
Bucvanová, Eliška ; Moree, Dana (advisor) ; Skovajsa, Marek (referee)
Eliška Bucvanová. Diplomová práce. Citizenship - Theoretical Bases and Teaching Practice ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH Weak civil society can be seen as a possible drawback of Czech democracy. One of the possible ways of building it is citizenship education provided within the compulsory school system. Citizenship is also the main subject of this work, which uses qualitative research methods to find out how the concept of "citizenship" is understood by teachers at a selected primary school, what information they provide to pupils on this subject and how. Since the scope of the paper would be insufficient, it does not intend to map the state of citizenship education in the Czech Republic: its aim is to find out how teachers approach the subject and whether their opinions coincide, and to compare their views with the information contained in literature. The results of the work show that the selected school is at a comparatively high level; however, the teachers' attitudes to citizenship education and its aims lack consistency and comprehensiveness and, also, the pupils' knowledge highly varies. This can be due to the fact that citizenship education has long been in need of an integrated approach and, very probably, also training opportunities for teachers that would help them develop their professional skills. Religion in textbooks for the second-grade elementary schools
Hanychová, Alžběta ; Beneš, Ladislav (advisor) ; Landová, Tabita (referee)
1 Summary Religion in textbooks for the second-grade elementary schools. Recently, there has been an increasing level of discussion about religion in the public space. Nonetheless, uneducated opinions are often being used. In my work, I focused on what kind of information are being passed onto pupils of primary schools, regardless of the interest of particular teacher. In the first part of my thesis, I compare basic curriculum documents (so called Whitepaper and Framework Education Program) and individual educational areas. In second part, I work with specific books of selected subjects (history, civics, ethics) that have been authorized by the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports (MEYS). I pay particular attention to how frequently, to what extent and in what context do they referrer about religion (including list of reported religions). Afterwards, I evaluate, whether they take evaluated stands, alternatively whether they encourage pupils to be interested in this area and finally whether they develop pupils' ability to look up relevant information on that subject. Keywords Religion, content analysis, textbook, Framework Educational Program, Whitepaper, prejudice, religiosity, Approval Clause, history, ethics, civics, evaluation.
